Hurt

She acually managed to get some more sleep, now being woken up by her alarmclock. With a groan she turned the alarm off and stood up from her bed, she made way to her closet. Amelie put on some ripped, dark jeans and a white tank top. She also put on an oversized dark brown cardigan along with some socks. Amelie went out of her room and into the kitchen where she grabbed an apple as breakfast, she then got back to her room and sat down at her vanity. Looking at herself with a frown she picked up the concealer and tried to hide the reddish spots around her temples along with her dark circles. She also put on some mascara for good measure, picked up her bag she quickly went to the bathroom to brush her teeth before going to the hall by the frontdoor. She put on her converse and started walking towards school, she hadn't seen her mother all morning and she was happy about that. Seeing her mothers pained expression from what happened last night was still making her chest hurt. She knew her mother was avoiding her, it always happened after she had hurt herself. Her mother would not speak to her or want to see her, sometimes for just a few hours and sometimes full days. Amelie knew she was hurting her mother as much as she was hurting herself, but the physical pain was so much better than the psychic. While she was walking on the sidewalk she was looking down on the ground, lost in thoughts. Suddenly she walked into something hard and she stumbled backwards, a strong hand catching her arm before she could fall. "Look where you're going." said the voice of a man, low and deep. She knew this voice even though she only heard it a couple of times. Damien. She looked up at Damien in front of her, she never remembered seeing him on this way to school. Her expression must've been lookin weird because Damien chuckled and smirked. "Cat got your tounge?" He asked and raised an eyebrow. Amelie litteraly felt like she had no tounge, like she didn't even know how to form words. She was just staring at Damien with wide eyes and watched as he shrugged and turned to walk away from her. She watched him walk away and suddenly shook her head, what was wrong with her? She started walking at a fast pace towards school again. Sitting by her tree at the football field as usual Amelie could tell it was already lunchbreak by how many students were outside, the sun was shining today and she was letting it warm her pale face. She wasn't feeling hungry so she stayed by her tree listening to music in her airpods. She rarely went to classes but she couldn't find a reason not to leave home other than going to school, she felt suffocated inside her house. Amelie was never treated badly, she just didn't feel like it was ever her home. Suddenly she felt an unsettling shiver run down her spine, she removed one of her airpods from her ear and looked around. He was right in front of her, Damien, he was looking down at her with an unreadable expression. Without thinking about it she pulled the sleeve of her cardingan down to the palm of her hands and held it tight. Damien slightly tilted his head studying her action carefully. "Do you ever go to class?" He asked her while crouching to her level. "Sometimes." Amelie replied with a low voice and looked down at her knees, why was he here? Damien slowly came closer and grabbed her fingers to straighten her arm, then pulled the sleeve up to reveal irritated red scars. He frowned and slowly stroked them with the fingers of his free hand. He was very gentle and for a second she think she saw his eyes shift from the icy blue to deep red, but with a blink of his eyes they were back to the blue. Breaking from her daze Amelie tried to pull her arm back, but he was firmly holding her so she couldn't. "W-w-what are you doing?" She stuttered the words, she felt very uncomfortable the way he looked at her. There was hunger and sadness, then he looked up and locked eyes with her, his eyes returning to something unreadable and almost cold. "Why?" was what he asked her back, quickly glacing over her scarred arm again before looking her in the eyes. "T-thats.... none of your buisness.." Amelie answered lowly, almost like a whisper. Why did he care anyway? He was the one acting weird yesterday, not to mention her wounds had almost instantly healed afterwards and that was the weirdest part. Damien looked at her for a long moment and Amelies cheeks burned red with embarrasment as she looked down on her knees again. She jerked back her arm and he let her go this time, she quickly covered her arm with the sleeve of her cardigan again. "Sure." Damien stood up and frowned, he turned away and walked back to school. What was his problem anyway, tears formed in Amelies eyes. No one had ever asked her about it, not that anyone had ever seen her scars. She was very careful with hiding them under long sleeved shirts, hoodies or cardigans. It was easier to wound herself than deal with the emotions inside her, it was easier to just cut than talking about what was happening inside her mind, it was easier to stay away from people than make close friends and get hurt later. The only close friend she had was a boy years ago, he had also asked her why, he had seemed to care for her. But he left her with more scars than before, he wasn't better than anyone else even tho he seemed like it. Amelies hands started shaking and her breaths became irregular, her head started pounding and her chest felt like it was going to explode. She banged her head against the tree trunk, hard. Again, again. The pounding in her head replaced with the ache in the back of her head. It felt better, moving the pain to the outside. She closed her eyes and felt a stray tear roll down her cheek. Why was she thinking of that guy now, it was 2 years ago he left her, she should've forgotten him by now. Another bang to her head on the tree trunk, she felt a little better.  Amelie had not attended school all day, she had gotten a couple of texts from Miranda and Lucas asking her whereabouts. She had only replied with outside and knew they would understand, she sat by the tree when she felt a pat on her head. She looked up and removed both her airpods to be able to talk to whoever patted her head, it was Lucas. "Hey there." his concerned eyes studied Amelie and his brows furrowed together. "Hey, didn't really feel any classes today." Amelie gave him a weak smile. Lucas nodded and handed her a couple papers. "Crystals notes, she told me to give it to you." He explained and sat beside Amelie. She scooted over a little to he would be able to also lean against the tree trunk. "Thank you, aren't you heading home?" She asked and stuffed the papers inside her bag, not really caring if they wrinkled. "I am about to, want a ride?" He asked with a smile. Amelie shook her head, she always got incredibly carsick no matter the distance. "No thanks, you know how I get, I'll just walk." Lucas nodded a couple of times, he moved his hand over his busscut and frowned a little. "I need to get a haircut.." Amelie giggled and also put her hand on his hair, the tiny hairs almost tickled her palm as she was stroking over his head. "It's already so short." She said and tried to imagine Lucas with longer hair, he was already pretty good looking with this buzzcut so imagining him having longer hair was nearly impossible. "It's getting too long!" He said with amusement in his voice as he stood up and offered his hand to Amelie to help her up. She took it and also stood up, swinging her bag over her shoulder. Lucas was looking tough but he was always trying to cheer people up any way possible, he was gentle and caring beneath his hard surface. "I need to get going, thank you for bringing over the notes Lucas." Amelie said gratefully. "No problem, see you tomorrow, it's friday so you should come to class and hand in the papers." Lucas reassurely squeezed her arm. That's right, she had most classes together with Lucas on fridays so she would not be alone in class. "Yeah, see you tomorrow." She turned around and started the walk home.
