THIRD PERSONS POV
Marion was a strong Luna, ever since she had Lucy, she knew that Lucy would grow up to be a strong Alpha female. Except, almost every strong Alpha female needed a strong Alpha male. She would know that, because she was also the only daughter of an Alpha couple and she got lucky when a rogue Alpha named Luc tried to come after her. He could and would have killed her, he had her pinned down, if it weren't for the fact that they were mates. That luckely solved her problem of almost getting killed, but it also thaught her that her only daughter would probably need a strong male Alpha to look after her.
That was also why she was preparing her daughter to have the best manners and best education possible so she would be the best supporting Luna ever.
Luc on the other hand did not mind that his only child was a girl and that she learned how to be on her best behavior and how to run the packs buisnesses, but he also wanted to make her strong. Strong enough to fight a male Alpha. So she would never be forced to give up on her dreams or into a situation she would not be able to get out of. He could only imagine what an illwilled male would or could do to her.
In the past he was kicked out of his former pack. He was the bèta's son, only sixteen years old, but the Alpha was scared of his blood. Luc was too much an Alpha. Therefor he was banished on some stupid thought of reason. He hated that Alpha. His name was Xander.
Luc and Marion had talked about it when Lucy was young. They would train her and try to prepare her the best way possible. She would grow up to be a well educated (intellectual and physical) Alpha female. Luc would step down at a certain point and help her grow in her role as pack leader. They both would give her the chance to find her mate when she was 18 years old, but a lot has changed in the past few years. Xander's pack, the West pack, has grown. And in order for Lucy to be Alpha with Mike as her Bèta, she might also need a male Alpha to stand by her side. Therefor the plan changed a bit.
So that is why they contacted the East pack to form an alliance. Bruce was 23 years old and though Luc did not wish for his daughter to be forced into anything, he disliked the idea of her quite possible death more.
Luc knew he had not much time left. He had only told his Bèta George and Marion, but he was sick and dying. Lucy would need more than her best friend Katie and Bèta Mike to keep her safe. George would not be able to help her much, since he could no longer be Bèta when Luc would die and no one would listen to him anymore.
Marion had contacted Bruce personally to invite him over the phone. She was the Luna and had a better way to persuade Bruce into forming an alliance. A father and Alpha is good at giving directions and orders. A Luna, especially one like Marion, has a soft touch of persuasion. Luc would know. Marion could have him rolling on his back and dancing without music for her.
Bruce had responded enthousiasticly and if toninght all goes well, Lucy would be bethrothed by the end of the evening and the Northern and Eastern packs would merge. overpowering the other two (especially the West pack). Bruce had enough mistressess lying around. He was not that interested in Lucy, though he heard she looked good and she had excellent Alpha blood running through her veins that would produce good offspring. Bruce would eventually need a kid to take over and the increase in land and property was also a nice bonus. It was good that their borders were close. They could make one huge pack that he would lead.
This was the plan of the parents, unknowing and naïve that Bruce would put his own intrests first and maybe not even love Lucy. They wondered if THEY could pull it off. Going from preparing their girl to be the first ever, possibly single Alpha female, to a forced allignment as Luna, was a difficult but neccessary step in their minds.
Lucy was a victom of curcomstance and she would have to deal with it.
