Five years of loyalty, a successful company, and dreams of a happy family were destroyed in one afternoon. Selena was ready to hand over her company to her husband, Alex, only to catch him cheating on her in their own home with the woman he called his “adopted sister.”

Instead of crying or begging, Selena immediately replaced the company transfer papers with divorce papers. She wanted nothing from Alex except the money and sacrifices she had wasted on him and his family. Love no longer mattered to her. Her only goal was to push her company into the city’s top ten businesses before the year ended.

But growing the company would take money, and the only person who could help was Adrian, the city’s most powerful businessman. His condition was simple but shocking. A marriage.

Selena agreed, believing it would be nothing more than business. She promised herself she would never trust another man again. But Adrian was completely different from her ex-husband. He was caring, protective, intelligent, and unexpectedly gentle with her. Slowly, Selena began to depend on him.

And when she learns another painful truth, Alex’s so-called adopted sister was actually her stepsister, Mara, who had secretly planned revenge against her for years. Hurt by the betrayal, Selena throws herself into Adrian's arms.

But soon, Selena starts noticing something strange. Everyone who had ever hurt her ended up disappearing. Alex, his manipulative mother, Mara, and even a corrupt director who once harassed her.

Selena becomes terrified when she realizes Adrian knows secrets about her life she never told anyone. Their first meeting was not accidental, and the marriage was never just business. Adrian has been watching her far longer than she realized, and his obsession may be far more dangerous than love.

As another mysterious woman enters the picture to destroy Selena’s life, Selena is trapped between fear and desire, forced to wonder whether Adrian is her protector… or the biggest danger of all.

chapter 1
The night of my five years marriage anniversary with Alex should have been the day I finally announced I was ready to have a baby. I was going to hand over company matters fully to him and focus on getting pregnant and building our little family, I was even planning baby names in my head already. But instead, what I got was my husband getting his d**k sucked by the very woman he'd claimed was his adopted sister. They didn't even notice I was at the door. My cheating husband moaned as she gagged on his d**k screaming she was the best at c**k sucking My hand squeezed the document I was holding, tears welling in my eyes. This was the man I'd spent three years of my life chasing and the other five being married to, a cheating scumbag who even banged his adopted sister I wanted to storm in there, cry, scream at him, ask how he could do this to me after everything we've been through together, and castrate him, a cheater like him didn't deserve a d**k, but I simply turned back and went out of the house, the rain drenching me in seconds as I walked farther away from the house, farther away from them. Screaming at him wouldn't do anything. The best that could happen was his apologizing, and no matter his excuses, it wouldn't change what I saw I didn't know I was shivering until a young girl holding an umbrella patted me "Are you ok? You are drenched and shivering, you should use an umbrella," she sounded worried, concern written in her eyes I didn't say anything, only stared at her, my mind blank. She paused when she saw my face, then took my hand and handed me the umbrella. "I don't know what's happening with you," she said, "but you should know your health is the most important. If you don't care enough for yourself, no one will care about you. I hope you get over whatever is going on with you and learn to put yourself first." Her words landed like a slap, and I blinked. Before I could even mutter a reply, she was gone, holding her bag over her head as she ran in the rain Yes. If I didn't care enough for myself, no one would care about me. Whether Alex cheated on me or not, I had to put myself first. Something I hadn't done in years. I pulled out my phone and called my lawyer, asking the one thing I never thought I'd ask in my life. "I'm getting a divorce. Yes. Right Now." I sat on a bench at the bus stop as a waited for him, the rain dwindling now. I stared at the crumpled and soaked document and the shopping bag containing the sexy lingerie I'd bought to celebrate our anniversary. A laugh escaped me, then another and before I knew it, I was laughing and crying at the same time. I laughed at the years I'd wasted, I cried for the feelings I had for him, for the amount of years I'd spent trying to prove I was the only one worthy to stand by his side. My lawyer arrived faster than I expected. He ran over to my side the moment he got out of the car and handed me the document. "It's just a draft since I had to do it in a hurry," he started breathing heavily, "but it includes important details, you can sign this and work the rest out later. Would you like me to drive you back?" I nodded, "Thank you." This was why I'd chosen Liam to be my personal lawyer. He didn't ask unnecessary questions and didn't try to give me unsolicited advice. He was practically deaf and blind to anything that wasn't his job, and right now, I appreciated that. I thanked him when he dropped me in front of my house and drove off, I smiled a little at his indifference, maybe I wouldn't be this hurt if I was as indifferent as he was. When I walked into the house again, the atmosphere was different. The table was set with flowers and candles, and balloons hanging in the air. Alex greeted me with a bouquet of flowers, and his 'adopted sister' was holding a cake, smiling like she didn't have my husband's d**k in her throat moments ago. "Happy five years anniversary, sweetheart." Alex greeted, his sweet voice, which made me blush, only made me want to puke now. He paused when he saw me drenched, "Baby? What's wrong? Why are you wet? Didn't you come with your driver?" He moved to touch me, but I stepped back. "I'm wet, I'll go take a shower and come down." The room was different from what I saw just moments ago. The bed was neatly arranged, no sign of the dirty acts they were carrying out in it. When I came down later, I paused at the sight of them at the table. It was obvious now, the way Mara blushed at everything Alex said, and the way he lovingly put more food in her plate. They didn't even wait for me to start eating. Before, I would have thought he was just being a loving brother, but now, I could only imagine how many times they must have made fun of me for being so dumb. When I took my seat at the table, Mara was taking a sip of my 'château sombrelune', the most precious piece in my wine collection, the only piece left of my father's collection. I'd planned to use it to celebrate our anniversary but here she was taking a sip of something I'd not even tasted. "What the hell is happening here?" I asked, my eyes scanning between the two of them. "What do you mean?" Alex replied puzzled "Why is she drinking from this?" I asked, taking the bottle and shaking it, and it was almost half gone. "Why are you being dramatic, Evelyn? It's just a bottle." He replied, already closing the subject, "I'll just buy you another." I laughed, buy me another? His salary for a whole year wasn't enough to buy even a fraction of the bottle. "Alright then, buy me another, it's only $10 million." Alex scoffed, "$10 million dollars? For just one bottle of wine? I understand, you just want to cause a scene. Why are you doing this on a day like this?" He dropped his spoon and sighed, "You're always so reasonable. Why are you acting out today? Let's talk this out later, alright?" Even Mara joined in the act, "Sister-in-law, it's your special day, let's not ruin it, whatever my brother did, you can just talk it out, no need to throw a tantrum." Her voice was tender, almost chastising, as though she was speaking to a little child making a scene. Tantrum? Scene? I placed the document in my hand on the table, sliding it to him. "What's that?" he asked, greed and excitement flashing through his eyes. He probably thought it was the share transfer I'd promised to give him. He opened it excitedly, and I watched with equal fervor as his face paled when he saw what was written there. "What is this?" He asked again, this time with anger and shock evident in his voice. I smiled, “Let's get a divorce.”
