I couldn’t wait for the day to end. All day, I kept glancing at my office door, counting down the minutes.
Being back here, being near Katherine again—I just wanted to hold her, to feel her in my arms.
When the office finally started to empty, I felt a rush of excitement. Soon, it would just be us.
I watched as the last few staff members left. The place grew quiet, just the way I liked it.
I smiled, feeling a little giddy like a kid sneaking around to do something he wasn't supposed to. I made my way to Katherine’s desk.
She was still busy, typing away, her eyes focused on the screen. Always so dedicated, even when I wanted her attention all to myself.
“Katherine,” I said, leaning on the side of her desk. She looked up, her eyes brightening when she saw me. But the
