KATHERINE POV. The sun had barely set, and I was already pacing around the living room, my phone clutched in my hand as I dialed Adrian's number for the third time that evening. He’d been distant the past few days—quieter, more reserved. I knew something was off, but every time I asked him about it, he just brushed it off.
