One
“Your father needs you in his office little one.” Lona tells me. I look up at her with a look of why. “I don’t know he just told me to get you and send you there. Now hurry and don’t make him wait.” I get up and walk to his office and knock on the door.
“Enter.” I hear him say. I open the door and walk inside. I see my father behind his desk, his wife standing behind him and a man sitting in one of the chairs in front of his desk. “Cian this is my oldest daughter.”
“How old is she?”
“She turns eighteen tomorrow.” My dad says to him. He stands and turns to look at me.
He walks over to dad’s desk and signs a paper on it. “Go pack up anything of value to you.” He says to me.
“What’s going on?” I ask.
“Your father owed me money, that he doesn’t have. So we made a deal. I get you in exchange for that money.” Cian says to me. I look at my dad.
“Tell me he is joking.”
“He is not joking. Now do as told and go pack your things.” My dad says.
“You no longer get to tell her what to do.” He tells my dad. “Gregory, escort her to pack her things.” He says before another man walks into the office. I turn and walk out. But stop and turn around and walk back in. “You said to pack anything of value to me?” I ask, when he nods I continue. “What if the thing of value is another human being?”
“Then we will take them with us as well.” He says.
I turn and walk out again.
“Lona, I need you to pack your stuff, while I am packing. You are coming with me.” I say as she walks past me. She stops and looks at me.
“Lona stays here.” I hear my father say.
“The contract states anything of value to her she can bring. If Lona is of value to her then she comes with us.” Cian says walking out of the office. I walk over and start up the stairs as my step sister comes down them.
“Well hello there cutie.” She says.
“We need to get your things and go.” He says walking up to me. I see her walk past us down the stairs and right to dad’s office. I walk to my room and pack up some clothes. “Is that all you want?”
“Yes,” I tell him. “Since my mom died and he married her everything has been about her daughter. Even though this is my mother’s house, therefore it is mine by her will once I turn eighteen.”
“And the woman you are bringing with you?”
“She has taken care of me since my mother died ten years ago.”I tell him. He nods his head as Lona comes in. I see him pull out a phone.
“Yes, I need a room made up on my floor. She will be staying indefinitely. Also clear out half of my closet and get a second dresser in my room.” He says. “What shampoo, conditioner and body wash do you use?” He asks me.
“I will use any.”
“Put a bottle of Native Jasmine body wash, shampoo and conditioner in my shower as well. We will be home in a few hours. I am taking my wife shopping.” He says then hangs up. “Leave that stuff here. We are going to get you new clothes, and some other stuff.” He says. We turn to leave and see my dad, stepmother and step sister in the doorway.
“Change of plans.” My dad says. “Penny wants to go instead.”
I watch Cian walk up to my dad and whisper something in his ear. He then steps back and grabs my hand. “Am I clear?” He says out loud.
“Perfectly clear.” My dad says. “Everyone move out of their way.” I see my dad step out of the doorway pulling my stepmother and sister with him. Penny starts to say something but my dad gives her the look, and she shuts up. “Come let’s go.” He says.
We get out to his car and he opens the passenger door for me. “I have never seen my dad back down like that. What did you say?”
“I simply reminded him that the contract I signed was for you, by name. And that if he was to go back on it in anyway he won’t like the consequences.” He says.
“Who are you?” I ask him, “cause no one threatens my dad.”
“I am Cian Rossi.” He says.
“As in the Cian Rossi of the Rossi crime family?” I ask him.
“The one and only.” He says.
“So my dad gave me to the mafia.”
“It’s not actually a bad thing. As my wife you will be spoiled and pampered.” He says as he drives. I sit there thinking about what I learned. I feel the car stop and look up. “Let’s go get you some new stuff.” He says climbing out of the car. He comes around and opens my door and extends his hand and helps me out. Then he starts walking towards the mall. “First stop is the jewelry store. You get to pick out your engagement and wedding rings.” He says as we walk inside. He takes me right to the jewelry store. We walk up to the counter and a guy walks over to us. “We need to see engagement rings and wedding bands.”
“Yes sir.”
