“Oh no definitely not, we haven't met before”, Olivia stuttered. Have a seat, Alex pulled out the seat for her.

I'm so happy that you've finally decided to settle. She said looking at Alex and Olivia. Oh my she's so adorable, Mrs Cathy said adding more fries for her to her plate.

Tell us more about yourself, Mr Alfred mentioned.

I'm the only daughter of Mr & Mrs Hilbert; My dad is the CEO of The Hilbert Ventures Company. I'm a model and I own the Via’s modeling Agency, Olivia stated.

You're from a very responsible background. Mr Alfred replied scooping a spoonful of rice to his mouth.

A servant walked up to him and whispered something to him. No!! Don't let her in he jeered.

Honey, what's the problem? Mrs Cathy asked. Mrs Susan is at the gate, she's causing a whole lot of drama, they shouldn't let her in!! Mr Alfred ranted as his face turned red boiling with anger.

Don't worry dad, I will handle it, David stood up adjusting the chair backwards and left the dinning.

Mom what are you doing here again, David asked feeling frustrated as he released his tie.

I only came to see my husband to wish him happy birthday, she staggered to the gate.

Coming to a family where you aren't welcomed? aren't you tired of all the drama and insults?? Huhhh…. He scolded with rage in his voice and pulled her back from the gate.

He drove her back to her apartment. As they opened the door the maid came out. Ma'am are you alright? The maid said holding her and laid her on the couch.

Did she drink? David asked before he saw the bottles of alcohol on the table and went there, don't tell me you've started drinking again!! He said angrily, throwing the bottle on the floor.

What do you expect a lonely woman like me to do? She uttered as she was taken to the bed.

You know how bad your health is and you're still drinking, didn't the doctor tell you to quit drinking!! huh…. he raved as his face was already turning red. Please take care of her, he begged as he took his phone and left.

Mummy my teacher said I shouldn't come for classes again if I can't afford to pay my fees. Liam mumbled, looking a bit upset.

Don't worry I will gather the money by this weekend. We will be staying at Aunt Zara's place for now okay?? Mia said, patting Liam's cheeks. Just remember to always be a good boy okay? Now it's time to sleep, she cheered him up as she spread the mat and laid some clothes on it.

But mum, why are you packing our clothes, are we packing out again? Liam asked, a bit curious.

(The next morning)

Mia took bubu to Aunt Zara's place. Zara was Mia's best friend since they were at college and she has been helping her since her husband died.

Hope the guy that almost hit you with his car, paid for what he did, Zara asked.

He paid for all the bills and….. Mia was still talking before her phone interrupted. Hello, Good morning, she said.

Good morning ma'am you submitted an application letter yesterday, right? The caller asked.

Yes I did, Mia responded, it's been approved and you're required to come to work now for some verifications too, the caller demanded as he hung up.

OMG! Finally I have a job!! Mia screamed as she and Zara started dancing. I have to go now. Take care of bubu and make sure he eats before sleeping. I might come back a bit late, she said as she carried her bag and left.

Hello, Your mum is at the hospital, she fainted again. The maid said. David hung up the call immediately and rushed out.

You're Mia Faroki right? Mr Sam asked. Yes sir, Mia responded. Have you had any experience with cooking? Yeah, I worked as a cook before, Mia said. Okay someone here actually recommended you, I hope you give us your best, Mr Sam said as he stood up. Mia stood up, thank you very much sir I promise to give my best, Mia responded as her face was blooming with smiles.

*At the hospital*

How is she doing? David asked the doctor as they were sitting at the doctor's office. I think her kidneys are completely damaged due to excessive drinking and smoking habits and she would be needing a kidney transplant sooner or else…. The doctor concluded. Okay how much for the kidney let's do the transplant immediately I will pay for all the bills. David said with a miserable face.

I'm sorry Mr David, but the only way here is to get a donor, strictly must be a family member. Any body who is undergoing a transplant has it's procedure. So I would advise you to go home and tell your people to know who is ready to donate a kidney to your mum. The Doctor said as he left.

(In his mum's room)

What did the doctor say Mrs Susan asked as she adjusted her pillow to the wall. How long do I have left to die. She asked with a very weak voice as she coughed.

I warned you to quit drinking. David said looking at his mum with his hands in his pocket. The doctor said you need a kidney transplant to keep living. He said as he walked out of the hospital.

As Mia was on her way to her house, she noticed someone following her, she started walking faster. She decided to make a call but she couldn't find her phone in her bag.

The more she walked fast the faster the person increased his steps. Just as she was about to run, other guys surrounded her from the front. She turned her back to escape and saw more men at the back.

She heard someone clapping and turned towards the direction she heard the sound from. You think you can keep running forever right? A man named Black said.

Black was known as a loan shank who gives loans to people and expects them to pay three times the money they borrowed. He looks so ruthless and huge with the tattoos on his boy that you could barely see his complexion.

Boys!! check her bag and collect anything that smells like money, Black ordered. His boys gathered Mia and took her hand bag and poured everything in the bag on the floor and took the 10 dollars she had in her bag. Next time you run away from me again I will make sure to get your son and make him pay.

Please don't hurt my son,he doesn't know anything about our business please keep him out of this, Mia pleaded on her knees as tears were rolling down her eyes profusely.

Boys, let's go, Black said as they turned and left.

Mia was crying as she was packing her things from the floor and saw a picture she took with her late husband and liam.

She remembered how she collected money from the loan shanks to save her dying husband.

Oh, my phone, that was she came back to reality, she ran her hands through her pockets and her bag, I think I left it at the restaurant she concluded as she rushed back to the restaurant.

(At the restaurant)

David and his manager were in the upper room at the restaurant while Mia was coming to the upper room where she did the interview with Mr Sam and forgot her phone there.

She overheard the conversation between David and his manager and stood at the corner to eavesdrop.

So what do we do now Mr Sam asked. I don't know David answered as he was standing with his hands in his pocket looking across the window.

I think you should tell your dad, Mr Sam suggested. My mum said she doesn't want him to know about her illness, but I think I have a suggestion, David replied as he turned towards Mr Sam.

Okay, and what's that, Mr Sam asked, paying attention to hear what David would say.

Since the hospital made it mandatory that the donor must be a family member, I think you should get me a wife who is ready to donate a kidney. I promise to pay any amount of money she wants. David replied.

And where do you think you will see such a lady from, Mr Sam said.

Mia was already calculating such an amount of money for just a kidney before she noticed David was coming out as she was about to leave, she mistakenly hit the flower vase by her left which alerted David and Mr Sam that someone was listening to them.

Who is there David shouted as he rushed out. Mia was already running before David caught her. You again?? David asked, pointing at her. MARRY ME, Mia said staring at David directly into his eyes.
