Chapter four Lunar Veil Pack Cold winds swept across the massive borders of the Lunar Veil territory while armed wolves stood guard beneath the silver banners of the pack. The atmosphere around the palace remained heavy and disciplined as soldiers moved in organized silence. Suddenly— Two wolf guards rushed through the palace entrance, breathing heavily as panic covered their faces. Their boots echoed loudly against the polished black floors as they dropped to one knee before the throne. “My Alpha!” one of them shouted between breaths. “A report came from the eastern border. The Moon Celestial delegates were attacked on their way here!” At the center of the throne room sat The Alpha of Lunar Veil. One hand rested against the arm of his dark throne while his piercing silver eyes remained fixed ahead calmly. “The report also says…” the second guard swallowed hard, “…the Alpha’s younger brother was stabbed during the attack.” The guards lowered their heads further in fear. Then slowly, he rose from his throne. Every soldier in the hall stiffened immediately. The Alpha was tall, broad shouldered, and carried the kind of presence that crushed the air around him. His long dark coat flowed behind him like shadows while silver markings faintly glowed beneath the skin around his neck. The pressure from his aura alone made breathing difficult. “Prepare the cars.” His deep voice echoed across the throne room quietly. But the authority behind it was absolute. “We leave for the border immediately.” No one dared waste a second. --- The convoy of black armored vehicles cut through the fog-covered roads at terrifying speed. By the time they arrived at the border, the Moon Celestial delegates had already reached the checkpoint safely. The moment the Alpha stepped out of the vehicle— Every wolf immediately bowed. Even elite soldiers lowered their heads instinctively. Fear and respect mixed together in the atmosphere. Only one person remained standing normally. Kaelion. Kaelion’s expression remained annoyed and exhausted while the cold winds brushed through his dark hair carelessly. The Alpha’s sharp eyes landed on him instantly. His gaze briefly moved toward the bandaged area near Kaelion’s side. Relief flickered across his face for only a second after noticing the wound had already healed. “I heard your convoy was attacked,” the Alpha said calmly. The Supreme Commander of the Moon Celestial military immediately stepped forward and bowed respectfully. “Yes, My Alpha.” The Alpha’s eyes darkened slightly. The Lunar Veil soldiers instinctively straightened themselves further. Because everyone present knew one thing— The Alpha hated disorder within his territory. Before the Alpha could speak again, Kaelion suddenly interrupted. “We don’t have time standing around discussing it,” he said bluntly. “You people can investigate it yourselves later. Let’s focus on why we came here.” Several soldiers widened their eyes instantly. No one spoke to the Alpha that casually. The Supreme Commander looked horrified while Skye subtly tensed beside Kaelion. But unexpectedly— The Alpha smiled faintly. His sharp eyes studied Kaelion carefully. Most people trembled under his gaze. But Kaelion still stood there stubbornly despite clearly being the weaker wolf in the room. Courage. And that was something the Alpha respected deeply. “Very well,” he said calmly. He turned toward his soldiers. “Take them to the prepared quarters.” His voice instantly became cold and commanding again. “By daybreak, introduce our warriors to them. Ensure the training proceeds smoothly.” “Yes, My Alpha!” The soldiers bowed immediately. The Alpha walked back toward his vehicle before suddenly stopping. Without turning around, he spoke once more. “And find the ones responsible for the attack.” A terrifying silence followed. Because this time— There was no calmness left in his voice. . . . Kaelion POV The night air inside the guest quarters felt unnaturally peaceful. Soft golden lights glowed against the dark wooden walls, and the mattress beneath me swallowed my body like warm clouds. For a moment, I simply stared at the ceiling in silence, listening to the faint sound of rain tapping against the distant windows. This… this was luxury. A slow whistle escaped my lips as my eyes wandered around the room again. Crystal lamps. Heated floors. Massive glass walls overlooking the mountains. Even the scent in the room smelled expensive. I almost laughed. So this was the famous Lunar Veil Pack? All my life, I imagined them as uncivilized wolves hiding in forests, dancing around fire while worshipping some fake wooden moon goddess. But this place… No. This place looked more advanced than some cities back home. My fingers brushed against the silk sheets again as exhaustion settled into my bones. Everything here felt too perfect, too calm. The smile on my lips slowly faded. Blood. The image flashed through my head without warning. The attack from yesterday. The shattered windshield. The blood splattered across the glass. My stomach twisted violently. I quickly looked away, gripping the blanket tightly as my breathing grew uneven. I hated blood. I hated it so much. Ever since childhood, the sight of it made my chest tighten until I could barely breathe. A sharp knock suddenly echoed through the room. I immediately sat upright. “Come in.” The door opened quietly and Skye stepped inside, dressed in his usual black military uniform. Calm. Straight posture. Expression unreadable as always. “We’re leaving,” he said simply. I groaned loudly and dragged a hand through my hair. “You people don’t sleep in this pack?” He ignored my complaint completely. I reluctantly stood up, still tired from staying awake all night playing games on my phone. The moment I walked beside him through the hallway, yesterday’s memories returned again. The smoke. The gunfire. The blood. And the way Skye threw himself in front of me without hesitation. My steps slowed slightly. “Thanks… for yesterday,” I muttered quietly. For a second, I thought he did not hear me. But then his eyes shifted toward me briefly before facing forward again. “It’s my duty.” That was all. No pride. Outside, several armored vehicles waited beneath the cold morning mist. The engines hummed softly while soldiers moved around with frightening discipline. Mac stood near the front vehicle with his arms folded while the Lunar Veil delegates waited opposite us. The moment I stepped out, my gaze immediately landed on the only woman among them. She was beautiful. Sharp eyes. Dark silver hair tied neatly behind her head. Black gloves covering elegant fingers. Her posture alone carried enough pressure to silence an entire room. And strangely… She did not look intimidated by anyone here. A tall man suddenly stepped forward. “Before entering the training grounds, all communication devices must be surrendered.” My brows were instantly furrowed. “What?” “You people from the Moon Celestial Pack are more than capable of leaking our military secrets online,” the man continued coldly. I scoffed. “So you don’t trust us?” “Trust has nothing to do with security.” One by one, phones were collected. When they reached mine, irritation immediately rose inside me again. “You’re taking mine too?” The soldier lowered his head respectfully. “My apologies, Your Royal Blood. There are no exceptions.” My pride burned instantly. I was about to react when Skye calmly stepped beside me. “Kaelion.” I clicked my tongue and handed the phone over harshly. The delegates exchanged handshakes while I walked ahead of everyone into the massive underground facility. The deeper we entered, the colder the atmosphere became. Steel walls. Armed guards. Heavy security doors. This was not just a training base. This place looked prepared for war. Inside a large briefing hall, a long table had already been prepared for us. Everyone sat down while silence filled the room briefly. Then one of the Lunar Veil soldiers smiled casually. “I think introductions are necessary since we are comrades now.” Comrades? When did I become their comrade? “I’m Skye, leader of the special forces of the Moon Celestial Pack.” Polite applause followed. “I am Mats,” the tall man beside the woman said confidently. “The Obsidian Wolf.” The room shifted immediately. Even Skye looked surprised. An Obsidian Wolf. Rare. Monstrously strong at night. Stories about them sounded more like myths than reality. “I’m Mac, leader of the palace wolf guards.” Another introduction followed. “Titan.” What kind of ridiculous name was that? Then finally, the woman spoke. “I’m Aurora, leader of the secret assassins.” Her voice was calm. Elegant. Beautiful. But something about it made the back of my neck feel cold. Then her eyes slowly moved toward me. “It’s your turn… comrade.” The word irritated me instantly. I smiled coldly. “How dare you call me your comrade?” “You have the guts to look me in the eyes too. Do you have a death wish?” The atmosphere exploded immediately. Mats rose from his seat aggressively, but Mac blocked him before he could touch me. Chairs scraped against the floor. Tension filled the air. But surprisingly… Aurora simply smiled. “I apologize,” she said softly. “Can you follow me to the restroom? There’s something I need to show you.” My brows furrowed in confusion. Still, I stood up confidently and followed her out. Maybe she was trying to flirt. Women usually acted strangely around royal bloods anyway. The hallway was empty and silent as she led me deeper inside. The moment we entered the restroom— Everything changed. My back slammed violently against the wall. Pain exploded across my face as her fist connected with my jaw. Before I could even react, her heel pressed against my chest, pinning me to the ground effortlessly. My breathing stopped. The woman standing above me no longer looked elegant. She looked terrifying. “How dare you look into my eyes like that?” Her voice had completely changed. My heartbeat started shaking violently. “H-How do you know my—” Her hand suddenly grabbed my throat. I froze instantly. “My rank is nearly equal to your Supreme Commander,” she whispered dangerously. “And you dared speak to me with arrogance?” Fear spread through my body so fast my fingers began trembling. “Are… are you trying to kill me?” I forced out weakly. A terrifying smile appeared on her lips. “I could walk into your pack and kill you myself if I were ordered to.”“You have a birthmark on your back.” My eyes widened instantly. “You spent five years in military service.” My chest tightened harder. “I know far more about you than you think. How the hell did she know that? Nobody should know about the birthmark. Nobody outside the palace. Fear crawled violently into my stomach as she released my throat. I remained frozen on the floor, breathing heavily while my hands shook uncontrollably. Aurora calmly adjusted her gloves again as if nothing had happened. Then suddenly— She smiled sweetly. Completely different from the monster seconds ago. “Kaelion,” she said gently, “we should head back now.” I stared at her in horror. Who… who was this woman? I slowly stood up, unable to hide the fear in my eyes anymore. My legs even felt weak beneath me. As we walked back toward the hall, she suddenly spoke again. “Oh, one more thing.” My throat tightened. “There are only three rooms.” I looked at her carefully. “To encourage unity,” she continued casually, “we’ll be sharing rooms.” Then she smiled at me again. “You and I are roommates.” My heart nearly stopped.
