Chapter Nine

The next morning, the phone rang....Aurora sleepily answered on the second ring....”Hello?” “Tiffany Aurora Kensington!!!!!” Her mother’s voice came piercing through the receiver. Aurora held the phone at arms length from her ear to save what little she had left of her eardrum...Then she put the phone back down on the cradle... Then the phone rang again. She answered it. “Hello?”This time it was Georgianna. “Guess what happened last night?” Georgie said excitedly. “Ummm, you got to play spin the bottle with Cousin Benny again? ”Aurora said teasing her best friend. “Among other things.” Georgie stated. “Oh, come now dearie, spill the beans, don’t leave me hanging.” Aurora stated with anticipation. “Your Cousin Benny proposed to me. He wants to court me and then we will get married next year sometime.” Georgie said. “That’s wonderful, that explains why my mother called just before you called screaming at me. I just hung up on her.” Aurora said. They both laughed. “Well, at least I don’t have to marry Cousin Benny like my mother wanted me to.” They laughed again. “I truly am happy for you.” Aurora said. “Thank you.” Georgie said and then they said good bye. Aurora pulled herself out of bed and put her slippers on and went to the bathroom. She sat on the toilet and brushed hair at the same time. She washed her hands and then washed her face. She patted it dry and then Gracie meowed for her breakfast. She got her some canned milk and some dry food and then placed it in a saucer for her. Then she washed her hands and started her breakfast with a Nespresso. She made Eggs Benedict, chicken sausage and Apple cinnamon fritters again. One of her favorites. She placed it all on a plate and then on the table. Then she set the frying pan and spatula in the sink to cool before she put them in the dishwasher. She sat down and ate a peaceful breakfast while she read the Wembley Observer. She wanted to get to know a bit more about this Collins character. He was handsome and something told her that he wasn’t a pauper. He had asked to take her out sometime and she agreed. She had enjoyed herself the other night at the gala in spite of Cousin Benny being there. She had done some research on Mr. Collins and found that both his parents were deceased and he had only one living younger, sister. Mr. Collins had written quite a few pieces and they were very well written. With photographs included. Some of the photographs she had seen at the auction the other night. She was impressed. She kept clippings of his articles and the photographs. She put them in her clutch. She planned to visit her mother, take her out for lunch and maybe this would help to calm her down a bit.
