                                                                                            Chapter 7

A week later Spencer wakes up to the sound of Merlin barking at the backdoor again. The squirrels could be seen near the door through the curtains that filtered the sunlight entering the house. The squirrels would get really close to the glass, near the door and just stand there nibbling on the nuts taken from the feeder. Spencer lye in his bed thinking about the reunion and Asia. He spoke to his mom yesterday and come to find out mom has invited his ex girlfriend to the reunion and has put her on standby for the dates and locations. Spencer would prefer to avoid any and all conflicts and or awkward situations. Not that there relationship ended badly of anything like that, hes would just rather avoid the whole introduction; but since it's out of his control he thought why not make the best of the situations he's working with. Never giving it much more attention, he sometimes believes his mom is just probing and teasing his emotions like a child currently under development. Merlin has still barking by the time Spencer made it back to the coffee pot this morning; peeking through the curtains he realizes there maybe a special occasion for the wildlife this morning because there sure is a lot activity. This morning Merlin acted as if he wanted to chase away all the wildlife that has accumulated outback for some reason; he couldn't make sense of his behaviour. He couldn't let it bother him to much, after a few minutes Merlin acted as if was no problem at all,  quietened down as soon as he sensed the breakfast Spencer was going after for him. Spencer didn't bother venturing outside to the chair were he usually sat in the mornings to enjoy his coffee when the seasons permitted. Not feeling that energy today he heads towards the office, sits jis coffee on the desk and begins his day; he's continuing to make contact with all the quests as well as planning with Asia. By the time he made it to the office, a large bolt of lightning flashed followed by roaring rumble. A day of multitasking and hanging out inside isn't so bad he thought to himself as the rain begin to fall. He thought perfect to himself, as he begin to sip on his coffee and enters his web browser. He has work for days in his email, thinking to himself it's a good thing he's retired and available. Sometimes he don't wanna be involved in anything the outside world has going on, some days he's happy invisible inside his home, just him and his dog in his own mind and in there own world. A few hours and a few cups of coffee later, the task was complete. Everyone notified, now all we have to do is wait for people to begin the response process. We can make it this day but not that day; we prefer this day over that day. Apart of the process of organizing the family he thought to himself, he also notifies everyone every year to plan it themselves if they think they can do a better job; they leave all the planning up to him every year, once again he don't mind, he offers but would prefer the task himself. Later that same evening Spencer waited for the sun to begin to fall before taking the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. He would occasionally enjoy a glass of water in the evenings by the pool of patio. The wildlife have had their fill for today, so there was nothing for Merlin to spectate at; nothing to chase or nothing to harass, only Spencer to watch and follow around this evening. Asia calls to see how Spencer is doing and to have a chat for a moment, just to check up on him and to just say hello as well. Asia still in Florida with mom and dad sure have been thinking about Spencer awful hard, decides to break the news to Spencer and confess to him how she really feels. She tells him she loves him and that she cant stop thinking about him; and how much shes ready to return to spend more time with him. She's been traveling to and from her Florida home to spend time with Spencer the past few months. Not sure of her plan for their future Spencer just waits an listens. Really admiring her strength for her confession. Spencer has felt his own special sort of emotions soto speak, however refused to speak upon it of fear of the effects. Supporting the decision and embracing her emotions, he welcomes her into his life with open arms and a welcoming and loving heart. They plan to return to the wilderness when she returns from Florida once more. Happy to be connecting with each other on a more intimate level. Spencer spends a good deal of the early evening on the phone with Asia, almost like they've been waiting to talk with each other for ages. As the nighttime sets on the town, Spencer finds himself sitting by the window, peeking outside watching the bolts streak across the sky. With the thunder in the distant, Spencer tells Asia how thrilled he is with her openness, tells her she is loved by him and ends the call; crawling in the bed, wrapping himself with the quilt while quickly drifting off to sleep with Merlin at his foot.

                                                                                   Chapter 8 

A month later he's out back preparing for a days worth of work. Preparing lawn work and maintenance to the property when Asia pulls into the driveway. Merlin was sure happy to see her can pull into the driveway, as was Spencer. Returning from her hometown about 3 weeks ago, she sure seemed happy to be back, Spencer sure knew he was. She greets them with a gentle kiss for Spencer and a firm stroke on the head for Merlin. She tells Spencer she's been looking for her own apartment all morning, witch was good confirmation and a great sign to Spencer; indicating she may find permanent residence near him. Says she'll be staying with her grandparents until she gets her own place. She's holding a bag of clothes in her hands, telling spencer she wants to go for a swim with a large smile on her face. He lets her know it's perfectly fine anytime she wants. Merlin follows her toward the poolhouse as she goes to change her clothing while Spencer continues working of the maintenance. She will be staying at his house tonight, he thought to himself 'great'. He's been missing her, s this will give them a chance to actually spend some time together. She comes out of the poole house and straight to the diving board, bouncing a few times before making a great cannonball splash into the water; Merlin was so thrilled that he plunged in after her. The birds and squirrel perched on the feeder didn't even flinch; just remained with there snack near there safe haven. Not to long, a few hours or so and the tasks were complete, Asia was full of the poole and had retreated inside the house with Merlin he assumed because he has not seen him in a hour or so. He heads in side to discover Asia sitting on the couch with a bowl of ice cream watching TV and sitting with the pet. He jumps in the shower, dries off and returns to her on the couch to begin to relax with her. By the time he had completed the shower the ice cream was long gone. It was just him, Merlin and Asia for themselves, for the remainder of the day. She scrolls through a few housing markets in the area to get the opinion of Spencer; not having to much to say, or wanting to influence her to much he would simply comment on the beauty of her choices and the neighborhoods and every now and again he would mention the man cave just for the masculin humor of it the whole situation. She didn't mind, it actually eased her mind for the future and help enlighten her to the possibilities of their potential long-term relationship. They both believed in each other; both parties adults in the relationship and understand the importance of the role there attempting to pursue. There both aware of what each other is thinking also neither one of them wants to be the person to destroy the friendship by moving to fast or saying something that would demote the relationship or confuse the other. Out of nowhere Merlin begins barking at the door again, assuming the wildlife was teasing him by the backdoor again like the other morning, and the time before that. Making his way back to the couch where Asia sits, he begins to hear his phone ring from the office; making his way into office, picking up the phone, the name 'dad' is appearing on the screen. 'Aye Dad' Spencer says in a loving and inviting manner like always. Dad needed his attention for a moment, needing his opinion on a few things that's been brought to his attention. Mom and Dad currently and continuously working with their children to keep them in their minds and hearts. Spencer thought this was good; while on the phone with Dad he hears Merlin attempting to get back inside, or at least letting them know he was trying to get back inside. Dad  brings the conversation to a close as he begins to let Merlin back in; Spencer thanks him for calling to include him in the dynamic he's been faced with. He tells Dad he loves him as he ends the call them Spencer returns to the couch, right beside Asia, right where he wanted to be. Asia has started watching a very interesting show on TV. As he flops down on the couch beside her, she begins to explain to him what his has missed out on since he been away and working. From out of nowhere Merlin comes running from out of the kitchen with his tail wagging fiercely and lunges onto the couch colliding with Spencer and Asia. 

                                                                              Chapter 9

The next morning he awakes feeling refreshed and more recharged than ever before; makes his way towards the coffee pot. Outside he sits still in silence as Merlin and Asia lie still inside apart of his mind, apart of his body and now apart of his long-term future. He's happy that he's able to move on, now happy about the introduction, glad he can move on from any conflict from within regarding his mothers decisions; now developing the inner man within. He's happy this morning, happy about the thoughts he has, happy about the day and happy his life. There going shopping today, they have to pick up a few items for a trip they was talking about last night; he actually thought that was great. He loved the idea. There is a outdoor pet store combination up town much like the pet stores advertised on the TV. A place where they could create and experience while dreaming for a day. A few hours later they find themselves looking at all the wonderful items on the shelfs of the outdoor store. Merlin had the opportunity to smell a few new dogs as they were passing; his tail was continuously wagging throughout the store, Asia and Spencer was smiling from ear to ear and was enjoying their day to the fullest. Asia had a canister of dog treats in her hand and Spencer with Merlin in his as they turn the corner to make there way to the next isle when suddenly Asia collided with an older gentleman pushing a cart with his cat in cat. The old man seemed so excited to be encountering people inn such a interesting manner. Thrilled as could be as he introduced himself and his cat to Spencer and Asia. So full of happiness that he barely could contain himself while explaining and introducing himself to them. The old man was sure happy about running into them, almost as if his purpose was just for that. As she recovered the treats that fell to the floor the old man went into apologizing and trying to help clean up the mess at the same time introducing them to his cat. The dog treats only took a minute to recover, the introduction between Merlin and the cat was a very interesting encounter. The cat was very loving and sweet on Merlin, and the old man was very apologetic at the same time very happy to be encountering them. Introducing the cat by the name of Sylvester. The old man, Spencer, Asia, Sylvester and Merlin shared a very loving and bonding experience right there in the isle. This was not Merlins first cat encounter and Spencer was sure glad that Merlins cat friendly nature was confirmed. Asia and Spencer believes that they may have actually discovered a new fishing area by listening to the old man and Sylvester. He spoke about his past pets, current pets and that secret fishing hole near his hometown. The old man enjoyed a moment of talking with a few stranger before he has to move on with his day. Asia picked up some new lights while in the market today, Spencer got a new lantern and open fire hot plate and Merlin got some dog treats and the squirrels and birds outback got nuts and seeds. They spent a few hours up town, having a great time shopping and planning for the camping trip. They were very excited to planning another future event together. They got a large majority of the items they need for the trip to come, Asia says as they were back on there way home 'if we need anything else we can just stop back by later, on the way to the water' or 'tomorrow'. They do a bit more shopping at a few other stores before they begin to head back towards the house for the day, but before they begin to head back home they stop by the fast food joint to get a snack for a afternoon of lounging around the house after a hard day of shopping and work at the same time, depending on the perspective. Merlin didn't waste any time rushing to the food bowl when Spencer turned the key to gain access to the house; powering through the front door just as soon as he spotted the c***k form between the door and the threshold of the door jam. Asia was excited as Merlin was to be back at Spencer's place. A long morning or shopping really had them both exhausted and ready to rest the day away. Not long after the arrival back at the house they all find themselves lying around on the couch, sleepy and curious about the evening and the plans yet to be made. Asia begin to speak about the old man they crossed paths with a few hours ago and how he has impacted her day so much on the inside and Spencer was curious to know how so. He asks and she begins to explain what's going on in her mind and how he has influenced her. Asia has had a moment of awareness looking at the old man looking at Spencer. The thought of growing old and having purpose for the future crossed her mind, the thoughts of family and friends begin to create and recreate within her mind as she remembers the age of the old man. Neither one of them asked but from the looks of the man he was at least 100 hundred years old and sill getting around all over town by himself, or at least all over the store. She wonders why he was alone, and begins to wonder about herself and her future; wondering about partners, children, family and there age. She asks Spencer where she wants to be in 20 years, then she asks 50 years, reading his looks and body language carefully and curiously. Come to find out Spencer don't really think that far into the future and Merlin didn't care to much for the future himself either. Not to long after that Spencer begins to talk about his feeling and how interesting it will be at that age and how he can only hope to be that healthy at that age, he also jokingly says to Merlin asking him 'do you believe you will be around in 100 years?' Merlin just looked at him wagging his tail with that look on his face, the look that says 'what's 100 years'? Asia just leans forwards, scoups the remote off the table and turns the TV on as she strokes the head of Merlin.
