And Caelum is pleased with his payment..

Chapter 1: His First
ARIELLA I sat on my bed, as my maid, Fiona, added more wood to the fireplace. It was cold, but I could barely feel it, as my mind was filled with the anticipation of what was to come. My mate, Alpha Nolan, was coming back tonight. For two months, Nolan had been away, fighting along side the Lycan king, against the rogue alpha’s of the North. The war had ended a few weeks ago, but the Lycan king had demanded Nolan stay back until he deemed him fit to leave. Now Nolan was coming back, and with him, the ruthless Lycan king Caelum Dravehn. Two years ago, my pack, the Valleythorne pack, had been hit by the rogue alpha’s of the north. Despite being one of the strongest, we had been defeated, and had to flee our land and everything we knew, to seek shelter under Nolan’s pack. I could still smell the blood and feel the warmth as I held both bodies of my parents in my hands, while Nolan fought off rogues from my weak body. I had been weak, the only child of alpha Douglas Heaghen, and had become alpha of the pack the moment both my parents took their last breaths. When Nolan had asked for command over what was left of my pack, I had in grief, and thirst for revenge, surrendered it to him. The sounds as he tore through rogues that night, would forever be etched in my memory. We were far from fated, but that night had been forged by the goddess herself. With our two packs forged together, we had taken each other as chosen mates, with Alpha Nolan swearing his loyalty to me. I loved him, and through our bond, knew his feeling ran deep, even if he never failed to tell me how much he loved me every morning. Now, I couldn’t wait to have him in my arms again. Now, we could finally seal our bonding with the last step. I bit my lips as I got to my feet, walking into the closet where I had lined up different lingerie that brought heat to my cheeks just by looking at them. In the twenty one years I had been on earth, being feminine had been the least of my concern as every passing day had been spent on the training grounds. My toned body was evidence of that. But I was no prude. Nolan and I, had just said our vows when he got the call from the lycan king. Now, he was going to be mine. Finally. “Is this enough wood, Luna?” the ever-confused Fiona called from the bedroom. “Do your legs feel like they are about to melt off?” I asked, rolling my eyes. “Yes, Luna.” she yelled back. “Then they are enough, Fiona! We aren’t trying to bake the alpha and I.” She giggled, then I heard her put the wood away, before she dashed into the closet, her eyes immediately lighting up when she saw the lingerie. “Ouuu.. someone is getting laid tonight.” I raised a brow at her. “Don’t you have omega duties downstairs, Fiona?” I pressed, stiffling the amusement in my tone. Fiona had been part of my former pack, the last daughter of my father’s most trusted omega. In the war, she had lost her parents and only sibling. I was older by four years, but in her, I had seen shared grief, and somehow, over time, we had in our grief, developed a bond. She let out a sigh, then stomped her feet as she made her way out of the closet, and my bedroom. Once I was alone, I breathed out a sigh of relief. I loved Fiona’s company, but I needed to be alone at the moment, as my nerves were getting the best of me. I checked the time, and felt my eyes go round as I realised I had just an hour before Nolan come back. An hour later, I was dressed and rushing down the hallway to make my last rounds inthe dining hall. I had prepared a lavish welcome dinner of Nolan’s return, and of course, the Lycan kings arrival. It would be rude not to give the king a befitting meal. But my focus was on Nolan. I couldn’t wait till he took me in his arms and pressed his lips against mine in one of his possessive kisses. “You are here.” a stern voice said from behind me, and I turned to see Nolan’s mother, Nivir, walk towards me, her eyes taking in my appearance. “I do not think that is a dress appropriate for a dinner with the king.” I frowned, looking down at the long silver dress I had on, and wondered wha was wrong with it. Nivir had been one of the first to open her arms to me when I had first arrived at the pack, and never failed to thank me for all of the good fortune I had brought since my arrival, but in the past two months since Nolan left, I had noticed a shift in her attitude. A shift which had only gotten worse with the nearing of her son’s arrival. “Alpha Nolan got this dress for me as a present. I’m sure he will like it.” I said slowly, keeping my tone low. I had no idea what had caused the shift, but I could only guess she missed her son. All I could do, was avoid her, and any thing that would cause a rift between us. Nivir said something under her breath, before walking away, but not before giving me a disapproving look. Nolan had indeed gotten me the dress, and before he left, he had spoken so much about how excited he was to see me wear it. The dress fit like a glove, giving just the right amount of cleavage. But the slit behind was scandalous. I blushed just thinking about Nolan’s reaction when he saw it. The sound of cars coming into the driveway had my ears perking up, and everything in me instantly growing alive. I took my position at the entrance, noticing Nivir stepping forward, even if she was to stay behind me since I was Luna, but I let her, my eyes fixed on the door as I awaited my mate. The door was pushed open, and my heart leaped to my stomach as I set my eyes on Nolan for the first time in two months. Butterfies swam in my stomach, and I resisted the urge to jump into his arms like a child and instead, stayed calm, and took a slow step forward. “Nolan.” my voice came out in a small whisper. Nolan looked up, his eyes warming a little. “Ariela.” That voice. My lips broke into a smile, and I lifted my arms, increasing my pace, but a voice stopped me. “Nolan?” it was the most feminine voice I had heard. So tiny it sounded fragile. “Nolan, could you please help me up the stairs?” Confusion made my legs grow cold, and I watched my mate immediately turn, the warmth disappearing from his eyes and replaced by urgency as he reached for whoever it is that was speaking. Who was... I didn’t get to finish my train of thought as Nolan pulled a female into view, and when I saw her face, I felt my heart stop. Valerie. Nolan’s first love.
