The Secret

Nineteen

   Kanaya immediately rushed to follow Sabrina who stepped out of the office excitedly after receiving a message on her cellphone.

  In the small office parking lot, she was stood still to see Sabrina was with Luke. The man handed her a white rose and Sabrina smiled happily in acceptance while blushing. There was no mistaking it, her junior collegae was really in love.

  'I couldn't just stay silent. I have to do something. Maybe find out who Luke really is. I don't want Sabrina to sink into the sadness of loving the wrong person.'

   "What's this?" Sabrina asked as she looked at the white rose in her hand.

   Luke was silent for a moment.

"Do not you understand?" asked the man at last.

   Sabrina shook her head.

"No, after a few days of not being contacted, then suddenly hanging up on the phone, now you come to me with this flower."

   "I'm sorry! I thought you knew, but I think I was wrong," said Luca quietly as he was about to take the flower back.

   Sabrina immediately hid the flower behind her back.

   "Why didn't you say it?"

   "What do you mean?"

   "Your's feeling. It's obvious you like me, why don't you tell me now?"

   Luke looked down. A moment later he whispered softly.

"I do not know what to say."

   Sabrina smiled and hugged the man.

"Then let me say first that I love you."

  Luke was silent, but a smile that appeared on his face could not hide the happiness that was bubbling up.

  Sabrina went back inside with a happy smile. She was surprised when she met Kanaya who crossed her arms while staring intently.

  "So that's your decision? You decided to accept Luke as your lover? Didn't you hear my advice? He's not a good man and he can't be trusted. I'm sure he has big secrets and may also have bad intentions for you," she said.

   Sabrina stared back.

"I trust him. He's a good guy, maybe even the best I've ever met. And most of all, I love him very much."

  Kanaya took a deep breath and shook her head.

"I don't understand why you're being so stubborn. I just don't want you to be sad and regret this decision later."

  "I won't regret it. I have faith in the choice I made and I also believe that I will be happy with Luke."

   Kanaya was silent for a moment, then finally nodded.

"Well, if you believe that him is a good person for you, okay, I will definitely support you."

   Even though she said she would fully support Sabrina, Kanaya's mind were still afraid. She really had to find out who Luke really was. What secret is the man hiding? She had to find and tell Sabrina.

  The ringing of incoming messages on her cellphone made the woman stop thinking about that. She immediately opened the message she had just received and gasped when he found a photo of Adrian with a young girl in sexy clothes. The photo, which was taken at a restaurant, shows the girl looking at his husband affectionately and Adrian held the hand of that girl which is sitting opposite him.

   'What's this? What does all this mean? So Adrian really has other women out there?'

   Kanaya immediately rushed home. When she got home, it turned out that Adrian was already at home.

   "You came home early?" Kanaya said while looking at her husband who was sitting on the living room sofa while reading the newspaper.

   "There's something important I want to talk to you," Adrian said as he folded the newspaper and placed it on the glass table.

   'Is this the end? Adrian and I going to separate?'

   Although her mind restlessness raged, Kanaya was finally able to calm down.

  "Let's go to our room! There's something important I also want to talk to you about."

  'I have to be strong for Kayla,' Kanaya determined in her heart.

  The bed with white sheets that matched the walls had been the most beautiful place for the two of them. There, they knit love and crochet dreams of spending the rest of their lives together forever.

  Now all these beautiful memories seem to even cut Kanaya's heart. There is no longer the warmth of love between her and her husband.

For a while, the two of them were silent as if they were both transported to the past. Kanaya took a deep breath and repeatedly blinked her eyes to prevent the tears that were about to break out.

  "What do you want to talk about?" Kanaya asked after steeling herself. Ready or not, she had to endure this.

   Adrian paused for a moment, then shook his head.

"No, you'd better tell me what the problem really is. You look very shocked and depressed. Maybe you already know that...?"

   Kanaya repeatedly took a deep breath, then showed the photo.

Adrian's face tensed for a moment, but then returned to normal.

"So you think I have a affair relationship with that girl? She's just one of my friends. Right now, she was in trouble. It's all because of the guy you met at the restaurant that time."

   Kanaya was shocked.

   "What do you mean?" She said without hiding her surprise.

   "Here," Adrian exclaimed as he took out the photo of Kanaya and Luke that he had shown before.

   "You'd better stay away from that young man. The girl I was with in the photo said that the young man you were with was chasing her. In fact he almost killed her when the girl rejected his love. I know you're upset and angry with me, but that guy isn't good person."

   Adrian's words made Kanaya stunned for a moment. This was all it took to convince Sabrina that Luke wasn't a good person. Tomorrow, she had to tell everything to Sabrina.

   "I do not believe it!" said Sabrina in the next day when Kanaya told her what Adrian said.

   "It could be that Adrian lied to cover up his secret affair with that girl."

   "I don't think so," said Kanaya, shaking her head. "I have complete trust in Adrian."

   "I have faith in Luke. He's a nice young man. There's no way he would seduce a girl, to the point of threatening to kill her. That's completely unreasonable."

   "Okay, then, to find out the truth, we'll call that girl. I'll call Adrian to invite him over too."

   "Go ahead! But I still believe that Luke is innocent."
