Chapter 3: Losing the fight

The look on my face lessened the frown on Mrs. Denfords face to one of concern. "What's happened? Where is Melissa?" One thing about my boss that I loved was how quick she was at sussing out a situation with just the look on someone's face, like a real life lie detector. I explained the situation, and we got to work on tracking Melissa. In this job, everybody was required to be chipped with a tracking device for situations such as this one, which was another reason I figured it would be safer to leave my friend. When Mrs. Denford opened up the computer and tried searching for Melissa's location, however, there was nothing to be found. "What's wrong?" I asked. I was trying not to have a panic attack. Maybe I should have let him take me too. My boss, still looking at the computer as she spoke said, "they have either removed the tracking device and destroyed it or it's some form of spell keeping them hidden, which shouldn’t be possible." When she looked up and saw my face, she turned to me and said, "you did the right thing. If you had both gotten caught it would have taken us 48 hours to even begin to get suspicious, at least we can start looking right away." She touched my shoulder lightly and added, "it's eight in the evening, you should head home, try to get some rest, and we will do everything we can to find her first thing." I wanted to argue, but I knew it was pointless and made my way home. On the way home, I wondered if Melissa was awake yet, was she afraid? Was she mad at me for leaving her? Would he come back for me, and if he did, should I just let him? I jumped right into the shower when I got indoors and was thinking of ways I could try finding Melissa. Maybe if I went back to the house and started from there? I was so deep in my thinking, I yelped in fright at the voice. "Mmm, you're a right little tease, aren't you." Spinning around, I peeked through the glass to see the guy from earlier standing there, the syringe in his hand. Slamming my hands over my chest, I yelled, "get out!" Of all the things I could have said, I chose that dumb sentence. He laughed deeply and answered, "why? You're the one teasing me with your wet naked body and that tight virgin—" cutting him off, I scowled and said, "where is Melissa?" "Oh, she is fine. She's awake now and don't worry, she's been fed and well taken care of, and it will stay that way if you come along like a good girl." "Why, why do you need us?" I cautiously slid my hand out the glass door and snatched the towel from the side, quickly wrapping it around under my armpits, but making no attempt to move from out of the shower. Grinning he replied, "We need Melissa's blood." Sighing I answered, "stop giving half answers." Looking more serious and professional, he stood up straight from where he had been leaning against the side of the doorway and said, "ok, we need the blood of a dark witch, I realise she has never told you she has dark witch blood in her. While she has no actual power herself, her mother and her mother's mother do. As for you, well, always nice to have a virgin sacrifice too." Fear swirled inside of me, and I tried not to faint. "Well, that really puts my mind at ease. You're going to kill us both? Sure, I'll come right over to you." I couldn't stop from rolling my eyes, and he grinned at me again, "cute. But no, we don't need to kill your friend, but we will if you don't come along. If it makes you feel better, we won't kill you either, sacrifice can be meant for many things, not just death and I am done talking, so let's get this over with shall we?" He started moving over towards me, and I jumped out of the shower and ran, taking him by surprise yet again by using my shoulder and weight to knock him out of the way, making him crash into the wall hard. I heard him laugh but didn't slow down, not even for my shoes or phone. I was out of the front door and ran past my car down the street and turned the corner. There was no use getting into my car when he knew what it looked like or even possibly had tracking devices of his own. That could have been how he found me so quickly, and why he hadn't been so bothered when I had driven off earlier that day. Seeing a dumpster, I knew not to go for the obvious and ran past that and behind a silver car that was parked in a quiet street full of other parked cars. I stayed crouched behind it, again knowing to hide myself and my feet behind the wheel of the car so that if he decided to look under all the cars he wouldn't see my feet. Trying to catch my breath, I wondered what to do next. There was a small motel ten minutes down the road, but again, would that be too obvious? Fifteen minutes past the motel there was a big posh hotel, and I chose that to hide in for the night. One single room, and I vowed never to come here ever again for any reason. I may have an interesting and sometimes dangerous job, but it didn't pay well enough to afford two hundred and seventy pounds for a single bed and just one night. To say I got funny looks when I entered the hotel in just a towel would be an understatement. People stared, but nobody asked questions. I told the receptionist lady that I had run away from an abusive partner, trying not to smirk at the reaction he would have given if he heard my story. It wasn't exactly a complete lie, and once I told my story the receptionist and people eavesdropping changed their stares to looks of sympathy. "If you need any help, we are right downstairs, and you can use the phone to call us, ok?" the pretty receptionist lady had said. When I was in my room, I finally allowed myself to breathe a sigh of relief. I threw the towel off and pulled on some spare clothes the staff had provided in pity. A gray t-shirt and matching gray jogging trousers. It took an hour for me to recheck that there were no signs of the man, and even longer before I was calm enough to try and get some sleep. About three hours into sleep, I felt something heavy on my chest and opened my eyes. Sitting on top of me, syringe in hand, was him, smiling and ready to inject me. I kicked out and using the move I had learned from my karate teacher, managed to manoeuvre myself from under him and got up on all fours to crawl off the bed. He grabbed my foot and I kicked back hard, connecting with his face and loosening his hold on me. He laughed and called out, "I told you brother, this one’s trouble, a right little fighter." What?! My brain screamed. He had a brother? Or more importantly, backup? I raced for the door in a panic and slammed into a rock hard wall. Looking up, I tried not to drool. Even in my panicked state, my body still reacted for goodness’ sake. I met eyes that were a matching violet with gold around the rim like his brother but also golden flecks running through the violet. Same red kissable cupid bow lips and flawless skin. Whereas his brother was tanned, he was more porcelain like Melissa's skin tone to the point I could have sworn it almost had a luminous glow about it along with a sculpted face and cheekbones that were to perfection. He had the same athletic build as his brother too, so that his blue t-shirt clung to his body snugly and showed off the lovely muscles on display. Even his gray sweatpants looked good on him. I dragged my gaze away from his muscles and looked up to see that he had golden blonde hair, unlike his brother. Short and tousled, and it lightly fell into his eyes. All this in a blink of an eye, and I snapped back to reality. "Going somewhere?" He asked. His voice was deep like his brother, but much colder and devoid of emotion, like he would happily snap me in half and not lose any sleep over it. I gulped and took a step back. His brother had caught up with us at the door by this point, so that I was trapped between the pair of them. What do I do? I thought quickly. I kicked behind me, aiming for his crotch and knew I connected when he growled and fell back. I made eye contact with the blonde brother and saw his eyes were even more cold and empty than his voice, and I tried not to shrink back in fear. I didn't want to look at where I would hit him because it would give me away. I maintained eye contact as best I could and went to punch him in the throat. He grabbed my hand before it could connect and squeezed, making me cry out in pain. "Any tighter and it snaps," he snarled. I entered the fight or flight mode and bit down on his arm as hard as I could, drawing blood. He didn't make a sound of pain, but he did loosen his grip enough for me to break free and past him down the hall. Just one more flight of stairs and I would be in the reception, where hopefully they wouldn't try anything in public. I was almost at my goal when I felt arms wrap around my waist and literally lift me into the air, dragging me back and away from safety. "Ssshh, calm down baby, just be a good girl and all will be fine." I tried to kick out but with my back pressed up so tightly against his chest, I couldn't connect with anything enough to cause any real pain. I saw the blonde scary brother walking down the hall and refused to show him fear. I scowled instead. He frowned at me, probably not used to people scowling at him, I thought. He looked over me and at his brother, saying, "this would have been an easy job if you weren't so dramatic and didn't talk so much, brother. You’re lucky you got the most important one easily enough, or you would have felt her rage." I felt the brother holding me swallow, but he playfully replied, "well two pretty girls and an adventure, I couldn't resist having a little fun with them, didn't think this little one here would be so feisty though." His brother rolled his eyes and said, "f**k the drugs, let's just get out of here." Then he pulled back his fist and slammed it into my face making the world black as I lost consciousness. When I woke up, my face, as well as my head, pounded painfully. I could hear them talk as they jumped out of the van I was in. I knew it was a van because I was dumped in the back of it. I stopped thinking when I heard them mention Melissa. "That blonde one, Melissa? She's a hot piece of ass, though. I'd love to do her." I rolled my eyes at that voice, knowing which brother it was. The scary one simply murmured, "mmm," nonchalantly. "what? you don't think she is?" "I never said that, did I?" The way he said it sent chills down my spine. I didn't want to think what would happen if you got on his bad side. But his brother clearly wasn't concerned because he carried on, "come on, I know you got a d**k in there somewhere, admit it, say she's hot, and you wouldn't say no to that." I guess it was a brother moment because he sounded less annoyed and more exasperated. Sighing, he answered, "will it shut you up?" Pervy brother must have nodded because the blonde one said, "fine. The Melissa chick is hot as f**k and if she allowed us a reward, I would choose the blonde and f**k her p***y red raw." "Thats better brother." I heard him slap a hand on his brother’s shoulder, and then they were opening up the doors to the back of the van at the same time I realized that their boss must be female. "Hey babe, sleep well?" Pervy brother chirped happily. I grinned back at him sarcastically and answered, "best sleep I've had in decades, thank you." He laughed, while the other brother simply raised an eyebrow. Pervy brother said, "See, funny and feisty...I like it." I had no idea where we were, it looked like an abandoned building and I wondered why they would choose such an obvious place. I was fed up of calling them pervy brother and scary brother and asked the pervy one, "what's your name? I'm getting tired of thinking of you as pervy brother." He looked down at me and laughed. "Of course, how rude of us. I'm Jake, this here is my brother Hunter." "Hunter? What kind of name is Hunter?" I frowned. Hunter looked at me coldly and said, "what the f**k kind of name is Destiny?" He put emphasis on the word Destiny. I hadn't realized he could hear and blushed. "Don't mind him, he's a sociopath but I promise I’m not and much more fun to be around." Hunter snarled at him but said nothing. I giggled, surprising both myself and the brothers. Jake smiled and said, "you have the cutest damn giggle, should do it more often." Without thinking, I retorted, "I bet you say that to all the girls." Why was I flirting? I figured seeing as fighting or running hadn't worked, my brain had decided that perhaps flirtation might. Jake wrapped his arm around my shoulder and whispered, "oh no, darling, that line was just for you." I giggled again and when he squeezed my ass lightly I blushed hotly. He realized I had gone shy and whispered, "I keep forgetting you’re a virgin." I blushed harder, and he said, "can I ask you a question?" I nodded, and he asked, "is it really tight?" I looked up at him and answered, "how would I know?” Pulling me in closer to his side, he murmured, "does it feel tight when you put your fingers inside?" When I looked up at him confused, he grew wide eyed and clutched his chest dramatically, making Hunter turn to look back and ask, "what?" He looked at his brother and said, "s**t! I forgot to tell you, this little one here is a virgin." Hunter looked at me for the first time then. Usually, he looked through me, but in that moment he gave me a look, and I could not tell as he looked at me from top to bottom, whether it was in that way a man will sometimes do when his wondering what you look like underneath your clothes, or whether he was wondering what you would taste like and not in a good way. I figured it was the latter when it came to him. Jake carried on, "the best bit brother, she hasn't even fingered herself. Completely unclaimed and unstretched." I blushed hard at that and wondered why he was so overly s****l. I couldn't tell what Hunter was thinking but relaxed when he frowned at Jake and snapped, "seriously? you need to wank or something while we wait? you've been like a b***h in heat all day, sort it out." Jake feigned innocence, raising his eyebrows and placing his hands on his chest, "me? Can I help it if one girl looks like a goddess and the other is a virgin so tight she could probably milk my c**k in minutes?" I shoved the feelings those words brought out of me way down inside and said nothing. Hunter shook his head and muttered, "hurry up, she doesn't like to be kept waiting." We reached the top of the building, walked down a hallway and I figured would keep walking towards the door at the end, but we didn't. I saw a shimmering of something, like a mirage, and when we stepped through, we were somewhere completely different. It looked like a palace. I looked around in wonder while Jake stayed holding my arm and Hunter went off somewhere.
