I looked around in awe. The place was huge and looked royal. Red long rugs were atop mahogany flooring. The walls were white and concrete, stairs led up to somwhere, wherever it was, it was where Hunter had headed.
I looked up and up and saw how high the roof was, it was covered in patterns of silver and gold, decorations of angels, fallen angels and then demons torturing people falling into hell...nice.
When Jake stared up at the stairs, I followed his gaze and saw why. I knew without a doubt this had to be their boss. The woman was just as unnaturally beautiful as the men. She looked like a goddess, a love child between Marilyn Monroe and Cleopatra, and even that description wasn't enough.
She was around five foot ten, With long legs and a slim, toned yet curvy body. Her skin was flawless like the men and sculpted beautifully, it was somehow both tanned and porcelain with an almost luminous glow to it like Hunter.
Her hair ran in thick soft curls down to her waist and was a blend of white blonde, dark blonde, metallic gold right down to a warm brown. As she glided gracefully down the stairs in a pure white goddess looking flowing dress.
I took the time to take in her face. Her eyes were a strange color, as if violet could have a hint of pink to it and a dark red around the rim. Her lips were full and shaped like a cupids bow just like the men too, and I wondered why they looked kind of similar to one another right down to the almond shaped eyes.
It would be really weird and gross if she was their sister because neither men were staring at her like they were thinking brotherly things.
When she reached me she smiled sweetly and said in a serene voice, "so you are the female that has caused my boys such trouble."
I was too scared to speak so I said nothing. Somehow no matter how beautiful this woman looked it could not hide the sinister feeling of pure evil that seeped from her.
She looked at me frowning and said, "you are so little, you shouldn't have been so hard to catch. Never mind. Boys get her dressed and take her to her friend." With a dismissive wave of her hand, she left going back the way she had come.
Jake went to take my arm, but Hunter grabbed me first, pulling me closer to him. "No brother, I will take her to get changed."
"What, why?" Jake asked, annoyance in his voice.
Hunter turned to look him in the eyes and answered, "I fear what will happen if you are left alone with her naked and vulnerable in your presence."
He never gave Jake a chance to answer because he was already walking away and pulling me along with him roughly. I would have preferred Jake because he seemed the safer choice between the three of them.
Hunter took me down some halls, through some doors, and into what I could only say was some kind of an arena. Yes, that's right. It looked like an arena, all white, and clean and polished like it was brand new, with gold veins running along the walls and pillars.
I almost expected the roof to be open, but it wasn't, just a white ceiling.
Seeing Melissa sitting on the floor, I tried to run to her, but Hunter gripped my arm tight and dragged me to the end of the arena room or whatever the hell it was until we were alone behind a wall.
There he produced a gross ugly rag looking night dress, like it was from Victorian times or something but in no way pretty. It looked old and a more beige color than white.
When I just looked at it, he said, "put it on."
"Why?"
He looked coldly at me and said more dangerously, "because I said so, put it on. Now."
I didn't try to test him and took it carefully from his hands, afraid he might lash out. I stood there awkwardly for a moment and he frowned at me. "What are you waiting for?"
Feeling shy, I whispered, "do you have to watch?"
Dawning reached his eyes and his frown lessened. "Usually not, but seeing as you have been such a problem, I do not trust to turn my back, and you not try something. Yours is not the first body I've seen naked, and it won’t be the last."
When I looked to the floor quietly, he sighed and said, "look, if you don't get dressed you will seriously piss off the queen. I have seen all kinds of people naked, slim, fat, white, black, tall, short. You name it, I've seen it, nothing I see will surprise me in any way."
Sighing and still blushing I reluctantly pulled my top off, no bra because the hotel staff hadn't had any of those lying around to spare. He watched me undress, but he looked as cold and emotionless as he always did, and it, strangely enough, put me at ease.
When I was ready, he unfolded his arms and led me back to where Melissa was sitting. Melissa's ankles were chained to chains that were attached to the marble wall, no chance of breaking free or escaping. Hunter pressed gently on my shoulder until I knelt, and then sat down on the floor, where he started to chain my ankles too and also my wrists.
When he did my wrists he must have read my look of confusion because he answered, "she doesn't trust you yet, so you get to be tied up properly until decided otherwise." With that, he walked off and left us alone, locking the big metal chamber door behind him.
"Melissa!" I cried out and crawled towards her frantically. The chains were long enough that we could move freely, and Melissa grabbed me and pulled me into a hug.
"I'm so sorry Melissa I-" Melissa cut me off and sternly said, "no Des, no. You did the right thing, I'm just sorry they caught you before you could find me."
"Mrs.Denford knows and will be looking for us."
Melissa nodded, and eventually, we pulled away from the embrace.
"What now?" I asked.
Melissa, even in her night gown and with her hair a mess, still looked beautiful as she looked to the floor and sighed, "nothing. They just keep you in here all day until the queen gets bored, or she thinks you need punisment. Sometimes they don't come in at all except to feed you."
We couldn't tell whether it was day or night, but eventually, we grew tired and laid down in our makeshift beds that had been made for each of us. Just a bunch of blankets and a pillow each.
In the silence, I whispered, "why did you let him touch you earlier?"
With my back turned facing away from Melissa, I could hear her turning into a more comfortable position when she sighed and whispered back, "I don't know. He was so beautiful, and I've felt so lonely after the breakup with Josh, and I let things get out of hand. I'm sorry."
"Don't be sorry, it's not your fault, and it wouldn't have made a difference anyway, they still would have gotten us eventually."
"They look like angels, don't you think?" Melissa whispered.
For some reason, I hadn't thought of angels, probably because I didn't think they existed on earth, but now Melissa had said it...yes, that's exactly what came to mind when I thought of them and their unnatural beauty.
I frowned as I thought about this and wondered, if they were angels then the evil I felt from the queen and sometimes got from the men...did that make them fallen angels?
When I next opened my eyes I assumed it must be morning because both Jake and Hunter came in carrying a silver tray each with orange juice, toast and a small slice of butter along with a plastic knife on.
Jake gave Melissa one, while Hunter gave me mine.
"Morning babe, how are you?" Jake grinned at Melissa and sat down beside her, wrapping his arms around his legs.
Hunter sat beside me giving me much more personal space than Melissa was being given from Jake right now. Hunter sat with his legs stretched out with his ankles crossed, and then crossed his arms too as he leaned back against the wall.
They waited for us to finish our breakfast, with Jake trying to either flirt with Melissa or just talk about the most random things.
When we were done the guys took our trays and left. They did the same thing for lunch and then dinner.
The same thing happened the next day and the day after that. I sighed when Hunter sat beside me for the fourth time. It was typical I would have the sociopath assigned to me rather than the flirty one. I was so bored and restless by this point that I wouldn't have minded a little flirting just to pass the time.
I wondered how Melissa had coped for so long because I knew that when the guys left I was not going to be sitting around this time.
When they left, I jumped up and tried looking for a way out of the chains. Melissa looked up at me and asked, "what are you doing?"
Looking down at Melissa's worn out face, I answered, "trying to find a way out of here."
Melissa told me it was pointless, that she had already tried, but I couldn't bring myself to spend another minute sitting here doing absolutely nothing, not even knowing whether it was day or night unless the guys came in.
I yanked and pulled and tried looking for weak spots, but there were none and I had to eventually give up and sit back down.
When morning came again and Jake and Hunter entered with the usual breakfast tray, I had a plan.
Hunter sat in his usual spot, as did Jake. While Jake was busy flirting, I turned to Hunter and tried to casually ask, "what are you guys?"
He looked up at me frowning and replied, "why does it matter?"
It was the first time he had uttered a word to me and vice versa since we had been here. I shrugged nonchalantly and answered, "just trying to pass the time. It's pretty boring in here, but if you're not allowed to answer..." I trailed off hoping he would talk.
"We are demons."
I couldn't help but giggle at his blunt answer.
"what?" He frowned again.
"Nothing, you're just very blunt, that's all. I must say, you don't really look demonic."
It was his turn to shrug his shoulders. "Demons, fallen angels, it's all the same."
When I looked at him questioningly he carried on, "yeah to your unasked question, we were in heaven and we fell. we each have our own ugliness to remind us of our sins."
"Like what?" I asked, suddenly intrigued.
"For Jake and I, we are cursed with what you humans would call a werewolf form. Most of us still have our original form as you can see, but depending on the severity of each of us and what we did during the war, well...let's just say not everybody got to keep their original form too."
I thought for a moment and then asked, "what's the point of allowing you to keep your original form? surely there wasn't much point in giving you an uglier side?"
"It's kind of like mocking us. Once such beautiful beings now cursed with an ugly side...so we mock him back."
"With the upside-down crosses and three am stuff?" I guessed.
He nodded, and I asked, "can I see your wolf form? Is it full wolf or half beast?"
He smirked at my question. "it's full wolf and I don't know why you would ask to see such a thing, most women freak out or scream when they see us in our wolf form."
"I'm not most women," I answered in a flirty way and instantly slapped myself mentally, glad he couldn't see me blushing.
He narrowed his eyes at me and replied, "no, you're not."
He got up suddenly and pulled his long sleeved muscle-fit white top over his head and threw it to the floor. I couldn't for the life of me stop myself from staring.
His body was incredible, muscles visible as well as his now bare chest. He was smooth and built like a warrior. I came to notice that with these...fallen angels, they seemed like they had been formed from mashing together all of the most beautiful people and their body parts on earth together, creating these perfect looking beings.
He took off his yellow timberland boots and socks but left his usual gray sweatpants on. I understood as he changed why he wore loose pants now.
He began to shift from human to wolf, and the sight looked agonizingly painful. Either they didn't feel pain or he had gotten so used to it because he neither cried out, or showed that he was in any pain except for some growling.
His body split and twisted, blood showed, and I heard as well as saw the bones under his skin breaking and remending themselves until finally, after fifteen minutes, stood a huge golden and red wolf.
