"Lyra!" I hear a yell from outside my door, it was my mother's voice. thank god it wasn't Alpha Max. "get dressed you wretch" she spoke before walking away from the door. I got up, sighing before getting dressed. I walk out of my room to enter the kitchen to start on my infinite list of chores I had to do, along with cooking lunch and dinner for the entire pack. my mother started to hate me just about after my fifth birthday when it became clear I wasn't a beta like my two brothers and three sisters, and my mom, my father being an old alpha from another pack before his pack was killed and he joined this pack, but decided not to step up as alpha seeing how this wasn't his pack to control. Instead, my father is a trainer, training male pack members ages 13-54. I loved my father though, he was the only one besides my brother Mason who treated me as an equal, as a pack member and not an object. I had started working on the bathrooms and storage room in the pack house, hoping no one would notice me, when my hair was harshly pulled, spinning around to see who it was this time, to find it was my sister's mate, Dylan he grabbed my hair and slammed me into the hard Wall. "oops" he said with a smirk before walking past me to my sister Allison, who was giggling. this was normal for me, I seemed to be the pack play toy that almost everyone abused. all because I was the shy and quiet one in the pack I rarely said anything unless to answer my alpha. but I decided a long time ago I would run away and leave my pack on my 18th birthday, aka my first shift. I left the room to start on my chores for today, I didn't have much today since I would be released early to prepare for my first shift. I started on lunch for the pack, and today would be smoked salmon and salad for lunch, I called the pack to let them know the food was ready, but there wasn't any left by the time they were done so I didn't eat anything.... again, the same as usual. I began on dishes, then laundry and now I was working on my last chore of the day seeing how it was 6:35 pm. "how dare you deny your alpha!" his voice a loud angry growl. realizing he was making his way down the stairs, I ran outside fast as I could, he decided to make it a game so he sat and gave me a nearly ten-minute headstart, before he shifted and ran in the direction I just went. I was shifting! the pain was excruciating as I felt every bone in my body crack and reassemble itself, but I wasted no time after I fully shifted I began running as fast as I possibly could, and I finally reached the border, I heard him starting to catch up to me so I forced my legs to start running faster, I stopped when I heard several growls around me a beautiful black wolf came out of the bush in front of me, and was just about to do something when my wolf form got too weak and my body was forcefully shifted back, covered in cuts everywhere from where I'd been thrown. that's when Max caught up to me and with five other wolves as well. the wolf that wasn't from my pack stood in front of me in a protective manner, whilst they howled and a few seconds later about ten other wolves showed up by their side. Alpha Max lunged forward only to have the wolf in front of me growl and bite his neck, Alpha Max fell to the ground whimpering in pain causing him and the others he brought to leave. the wolf in front of me shifted into their human form only then i could see it was an absolutely beautiful girl she had long black hair that went to her mid-thighs, and she was rather tall, about 5'9-5'10 if I had to guess. another wolf next to her shifted as she kneeled in front of me observing me curiously with an almost emotionless expression. the wolf who shifted next to her began to speak "what are we gonna do with her Alpha Raine?" wait the most feared female Alpha in the region?!
