Kpishhh... ahhh The glass shattered. Cold air. The ground that had felt so far drew near. Both of them going through the window together. Thud. The sound of heavy bodies landing on the hard floor. Away from the three-story building. Blood. "KATHRINE!" --- "Mom" Anna said speaking to someone on the phone. A lady. Her mother. Who called her fifteen minutes after Eveline left the car to pick up her stuff on her own. She was bored after sitting for five minutes and decided to follow after her friend but received a phone call. Looking at the ID 'Naggy mom', she picked up already guessing what the conversation would be about. "Mom. Chill okay." She said to the woman on the other line who was talking angrily to her on the phone but took a pause when she had her daughters voice. "Ya know I can't really hear what you are saying, if you're talking like this, okay" Anna continued. "Be- more, gentle and less shouty okay" Anna said to the phone while doing an okay sign with her hands. Taking a deep breath. You could feel the woman releasing the tension in her breath. Silence. The woman on the other end of the phone spoke again. "Where, were you last night?" she said with half calm voice. But you could still feel the anger of the woman seep through the phone. "You stood up the date I helped you with. And. You didn't come back home last night." She said as her voice rose in anger. "Don't you. Cook up. some bull. Story. And give it to me straight." She instructed. Yelling through the phone. Anna held the phone away from her ear. As it felt like it was going to burst from the scream, while itching her ear. She puts the phone back on her ear and only said two words. "It's Eveline." Anna, saying this left the other person on the line silent. The silence only lasted for a few seconds before Anna spoke again. "Eveline got divorced. And then kicked out, mom." She says, making the other person on the line gasp in shock and disbelief. Clara Winston. Anna's mom. The woman who was currently in shock. And could not believe her ears. Drew in a sharp breath at the news. A few seconds of silence passed. "Oh, that poor child." She said, in a calm tone. "What really happen?" She said again. "Did Kent-." Anna blurred her mom's voice out as she felt like she could hear loud arguing coming from up the stairs. "Mom, can I call you back." She said as she steps out of the car. "I'm kinda in the middle of something. Okay". She says as she closes the car door not giving her mom to give a confirmation before she cut the call and made her way to the house. Dressed in a white crop top, a black leather jacket, a matching black leather boots. Anna looked and gave the feeling of try me a find out baddie. She started walking and getting close to the front door of the house. KIPSHHHSS... ahhhh. --- "KATHRINE!" The voice of someone calling out to Kathrine's. Kent. Anna thought. The glass shattered. Cold air rushed in where the window used to be. Anna heard it. A sharp violent crack followed by something heavier. A sound that didn't belong to anything good. She was already moving before she understood why. Anna run to the source of the noise. Her boots were loud on the stone path and stopped. The first sight that she saw, was the site of her friend lying in a pool of blood. Eveline was on the ground. Flat on her back, glass scattered around her like broken stars, a dark pool spreading slowly beneath her head. Kathrine was beside her, already stirring, already making noise. She rushes up to her friend. she dropped to her knees beside Eveline and reached for her face with both hands. "Eveline. Eveline, hey...hey, open your eyes. Look at me." Nothing. "EVELINE" Anna's voice tore through the yard. A sound above her. Voices. The family spilling out of the house, servants scattering. Anna looked up just long enough to watch Kent push past her without a word, stepping around Eveline like she was something in his way, and crouch down besides Kathrine. She stared at him. He didn't look back. "Get the car.' He said it to one of the servants. Rage seeping out of his voice. Already gathering Kathrine into his arms. "NOW." "Is she okay, is she breathing---" Eveline's mother rushed forward, both hands pressed in her mouth. Anna felt cold relief move through her chest--- until the woman walked straight past Eveline as she went to support Kent, who carried Kathrine in his arms. Anna went still. She watched Kent lift Kathrine. Watched her mother smooth the hair from Kathrine's face with trembling hands, whispering her name. watched the servants rush to open the car door. Watched Eveline's father stand at the edge of it all, as he walked around, got his car keys ready to follow suite to save his daughter. Not one of them looked down. Not one of the looked at the daughter bleeding out on the ground between them. Leaving her and Eveline to fend for themselves.
