Episode 2

"Good morning Mr Peter the governor has an appointment with you today at 9:00AM, " she says. "Okay madam Beatrice,," I answer as I push the door to my office open. It's a medium sized office with a framed picture of the Governor shaking hands with me at the far corner. The picture makes me think of how lucky I am.

***-Flashback***

After clearing campus I applied for a job I had seen being advertised in my home county. I had met Mr John who assured me of the job if I gave him only 50,000 shillings which I did remove from my savings from HELB (Back in campus I wasn't a spendthrift .) Soon we were listed for interview and once I had entered that interview room I found a bunch of old men nearly all bispectacled. I was surprised to see Mr John among the grilling committee. I answered their questions and I wasn't surprised to receive a mail a week later of my appointment at the county finance board. That's how I got a chance to meet and serve under the governor.

I quickly arrange my table and put all the files in place separating those that are important so that I would take to the boss for the scheduled appointment. Soon after the little paperwork Beatrice brings my coffee and to cool my nerves I take it as I peruse the newspaper-Its boring because it dwelt on politics a field I don't love. Its 8:58 AM I stand up and head to the county Chief's office .I walk briskly all that is heard is the sound of my well brushed shoes as it hits the floor. "Welcome Mr Peter how may I help you?" Sharon the boss' secretary greets me jovially. "Am fine Sharon I have an appointment with the boss now," I answer calmly. "Well the boss is with some committee. Nonetheless let me make a phone call to see if you are part of that team" she says as she picks the office telephone."Yes boss Mr Peter is here...Sure I will allow him in" she says as she motions me to enter the office. "The boss is expecting you Mr Peter" she says. I walk with a lot of gist thinking anxiously about why the governor wants me in his office. I knock and I hear a faint "Come in,". I enter the office. Its an office donned with a lot of regalia and the walls sparkling white not to mention the spotless tiled floor. I lift my eyes and I see a group of old men looking at me. "Have a seat Mr Peter," the governor says as the the other old men look at me with a lot of cold stares. My stomach is rumbling "What could it be?" I ask myself. My unders already boiling I took a seat
