CAFETERIA ENCOUNTER

1261 Words
OLIVER Oliver made a hurried almost frantic escape towards the door immediately the bell went off for next period, he still felt a pair of dark orbs watching him as he made his way to his next class pushing past crowded teens in the hallway. 'Why was he running away'? The boy kept asking himself this question but he never had an answer or a reason, was it the fact that the new kid who happened to be his mums client , was just in his class, sitting right in front of him, or was it that the new kid was Infact very hot? . He had to give it to his mum for not using dad's name in her place of work, because 'Hoffman'!?. would have been a dead giveaway. "Hey !!" He heard an almost familiar voice call before he felt a light touch on his shoulder, Oliver was standing by his locker now, ready to grab his notes for his next class which was AP. he turned to the direction of the hands to find Mateo , lips pressed and brows slightly furrowed, placing his books in the locker felt like eternity, as he reluctantly let out a 'hey' while he slammed the metal door shut. "I was wondering if you could show me around during lunch, or if that's too much just tell me where I could find my next class? " this was annoying, the one person he actively wanted to avoid was now approaching him, it seemed the boy wanted to be shown around but at the same time didn't want to come off as too demanding. What was nerve racking was the fact that he had come to Oliver , of all people.. him? . If he wasn't mistaken, a few people had approached Mateo before he near darted away from English like he was being chased by a ghost, so why was he here wanting to be shown around by him. "Sure" Oliver answered, keeping it simple as possible, he didn't trust himself enough to say more. "Sure, you'll show me around? or sure, you'll just point me to my class?" the dark haired boy had an inquisitive yet somewhat calm tone to his words, his eyebrows were raised now awaiting Oliver's reply. "Both, what class do you have now?" Oliver asked taking note of every single feature on the boys face, he tried not to do a once over, he noticed the boy was tall, now that he was standing up close it was hard to miss, because he was literally tipping his chin up to meet his eyes. "History" He blurted , Oliver had history too but it was AP. "AP?" He further inquired. Hoping and praying it wasn't the same. "No, just history, I don't and can't take AP , have you seen my grades? , AP?" Mateo all but snickered as he called himself out. "Right... " Oliver trailed off , "..... down this hall to your left the third class opposite the non-academic staff room" "Thanks" Mateo greeted before leaving. He watched the boys retreating figure until he made a turn towards his class, and with a sigh he continued down the opposite way to his own lesson . It was lunch now and Oliver couldn't fathom as to why the day hadn't ended, why was it running at such a slow pace, he wanted to pull out his hair from exhaustion. School was somewhat a breeze for the teen, he was what one would call a "Natural". The knowledge came to him easily, he could be taught once, or read it once and it would click. The hard part was being in a busy setting such as highschool, going through the hellish process just to acquire said knowledge-walking to classes, walking out of classes, heading to lunch , heading back from lunch, sharing bathrooms, the unnecessary heys and hellos, being in crowded spaces, he hated all of it . And hated it more today because he was overstimulated at this point. Oliver made his way to the usual table where he and his friends sat, occasionally Troy and Devan, -Matt's friends would join in, even Milan and Sophie, but much to his surprise since the beginning of the semester, they had been frequenting the table like it was a normal thing. Oliver didn't mind, as long as the girls didn't ask who he was crushing on and the boys didn't ask him questions about sports, or gaming or to choose between boobs or ass. He was good, he would survive. MATEO So far Mateo had gotten past most of the day easily , aside the few stares he got -okay like a handful, but who was counting? He got around his classes, independently, but he was still going to take that tour to be on the safe side, he hadn't spoken to anyone in school aside from Hoffman, and that was because the lady at the desk said so, he didn't need to converse with anyone or be friends with them he didn't have that time or said luxury. The more time he spent at school, the more his thoughts kept drifting to the twins, were they OK. Were they safe, was his mom home with them, he could hardly concentrate with his clouded mind. Lunch rolled around soon, and he dreaded eating in front of people, what's worse than that was him eating at all, whenever he had touched food because he was hungry David would beat the living s**t out of him, at this point he hated food and a gathering with so much people. But he had to find the star student for his tour, and maybe a little part of him wanted to rile him up like in English. "Hey where's the cafeteria" he approached a timid looking girl with glasses, who simply gave him the directions and scurried away . Mateo found it easily, and walked through the doors, stopping a few steps in, he was searching for Hoffman, but he couldn't ignore the many eyes that were darting his way, he quickly ignored them focusing on why he was there in the first place, he wondered if one of those pairs belonged to a distinctive curls. Bullseye. He spotted Oliver on one of the table with a handful of people, the sight of him surrounded by this much people didn't quite fit the picture he formed of him. When he was sure the other boy had spotted him , he instinctively smirk at him, making his way there. His journey was cut short by two boys, one about the same height as him and the other taller than their two, the one who was about his height spoke first. "Hi, sorry to bother but I'm Luke and this is Nic, we are members of the volleyball team and we wanted to say hi" Luke was all smiles, with his admirable set of pearls , and Nic looked like he wanted be anywhere but here. The two had dark hoodies on and volleyball shorts on causing him to believe them. "Mateo" he replied stoically, turning to the direction of Hoffman still watching him, instantaneously he smiled at , causing the boy clumsy nervousness to bloom into light. Before he could register the situation he was being dragged by the pair, he hated any form of physical touch but he was too lazy to do anything about it, and plus his brain was clouded by the nervous wreck that he made of Hoffman
