Chapter twenty one

Joseph:

I wake up to find my mates side of the bed empty. She must already be awake.

Baby? Where are you?

Hey! We can mind link now. She giggles.

Of course. We mates remember. Now where are you?

I’m down stairs in the office with Michael. You’ve got to see this.

What is my mate doing in the office with Michael? I throw some clothes on and run down stairs.

“Hey baby”. Michael is standing over her as they look at some papers on the table. “ Come have a look at this”. I look over the papers and she informs me of everything they’ve found out this morning.

“Wow”.

“Could it be possible for Michael to be the true Alpha?”.

“Well I mean an Alpha only gets they’ve Alpha ability’s and all the perks that comes with being Alpha when their sworn in. Thats why Alpha sons can be so pushy about there fathers stepping down once they turn 18. I mean they do have some extra strength before that due to there blood but nothing to major.”

“So that means it’s possible?”.

“Yes it’s possible”.

“Look at the Michael! See you might be the real Alpha.” Michael looks at me with a pale face.

“If that’s so, then that makes it so much worst what I did to you”.

“What do you mean?”.

“If this is correct then I’m your uncle. And I practically r***d you. Oh god”. I can’t help the growl that escapes my lips.

“Sorry.” I say. My mate reaches for my hand.

“Michael it’s ok. You didn’t know and I’ve already except your apology. You weren’t in control of what you were doing.

“You shouldn’t have though. What I did to you was unexceptable . You shouldn’t have forgiving me so quickly I wouldn’t have”. He frowns.

“Michael. The truth is I’m not over it. It hurts everyday, and sometimes that’s all I can think about but I don’t want it controlling me. I’m not a scared little girl anymore and I just want to be free. I don’t want this weighing me down. Now May we go see the pack doctor now? He may know more about this whole situation”.

“Sure”. The walk to the pack hospital only takes a few minutes. The path is over grown with Weeds and dead flowers everywhere. The hospital looks quite new though. The doors slide open as we hit the sensor spot. We walk straight up to the desk and I press the bell. An older man and women come to greet us.

“Oh your heirness. I didn’t expect to see you here. I’m doctor Andrew and this is my wife nurse Chelsea.”

“Hello” she politely says.

“Hello. Doctor I seem to have a few questions for you if you don’t mind”.

“That’s no problem. Come this way”. We enter an office and he chesters for us to sit down.

“ Now which person is this about”. He points this finger between Michael and Emily.

“Both”. I say. “So you know what we’re here to ask you about?”. He nods.

“I’ve had to keep a lot of secrets while William was Alpha due to threats of death. It’ll be nice to finally get them off my chest.”

“Ok. Thankyou. Let’s start with Emily then. I think she’s been waiting the longest” I say.

“Of course”. He turns to Emily. “You want to know about your parents don’t you?”. She nods.

“I don’t know to much about your father all I know is he was powerful man. Your mother on the other hand I knew very well. She spend a lot of time at the hospital with me. She wanted to be a nurse.”

“She did?”. My mate asks.

“She did. All she wanted to do was help other people. She was a very kind person.”

“Like you”. I say to my mate.

“When it hit her 18th birthday and she started getting her Fay abilities your grandfather was worried she wouldn’t be able to control them so he sent her to live with her mother. She was so upset about it as she didn’t want to leave her pack but agreed. Unfortunately She didn’t make it there. No one knew what happened. Heaps of people thought she was killed by rogues as she left with no protection due to the Alpha not wanting people to know where she was going. Then one night about a year later. I had just hoped into bed and all of a sudden started hearing these loud knocks on the door. When I opened the door there was your mother ready to give birth to you. She begged me not to tell her father.” He sighs.

“She didn’t know he had already died and I did not want to put that strain on her while she was in labour. I promised not to tell. You entered this world at exactly midnight when the full moon was at its highest. I helped stitch her up and checked you over. She thanked me and left with you. That was the last time I saw her”.

“That’s it?”. My mate asks with tears in her eyes.

“That’s it. I’m sorry. A few days later I had to let beta Anthony know about you so he could document your birth in the records but he swore he wouldn’t say a thing.”

“What did happen to beta Anthony?”. I ask curiously.

“Him and his wife left. William found out a few years later that he failed to mention that Ariel had given birth and was going to have him killed. So they fled. He never told his children. He knew they wouldn’t be hurt and didnt want them to worry”.

“Why would it matter that she has me?”. My mate asks.

“Because if he doesn’t have any kids by the time you turned 18. Legally you could fight for the pack”. I say. “And you most likely would have won cause you have real Alpha blood unlike him”.

“That brings us to you”. Andrew points at Michael. “You won’t believe it but there was actually a mix up. Entirely my fault. The Luna and Lisa gave birth only a few hours apart. I had put both of the babies in the nursery and some how managed to mix up the names. If it wasn’t for that car accident you had after you turned 21 we might have never known there was a issue”.

“I never had a car accident?”.

“You did. You almost died. You lost a lot of blood. Your parents offered to both donated but neither of them were a match for you. Your o- which means both on your parents should have been o but paul was A+ and Lisa was B- which means biologically you couldn’t have been there child. Alpha Mark came to visit you in hospital as he always saw you as a second son and your parents had to tell him what had happened. He instantly demanded I test him. He was o-. After some investing it was found that I some how switched you at birth. The Alpha of course was furious. He demanded that William step down and make room for the true Alpha.He refused. Alpha Mark died 2 days later. But not before updating the records. He made sure to put your name down as his child so if someone was to look they would find out the truth”.

“So William killed him?”. I asked.

“No one knows. He said they were running in the woods and rogues attacked. No rogues we’re ever found though”.

“Ok so how come I don’t remember the accident?”. Michael asked.

“ William ordered you to forgot about it. He was worried you over heard what was said while you were passed out and would fight him for the Alpha title. Didn’t you ever wonder why he made you Beta once beta Anthony fled? It was to keep an eye on you”.

“I just thought he saw potential in me. But that makes so much more sense. Wait does that mean my names actually William?”. Michael asks.

“Well legally it was originally , but William got your parents to sign a form and legally changed it to Michael so he could keep William. He didn’t realise Alpha mark had already changed the records so it was pointless to do”.

“Thankyou doctor. This was all very helpful”.

“I’m just glad to have that horrible mistake of my chest. It’s been weighing me down for years”.

We said good bye to the doctor and headed back to the pack house.
