Episode 1: The storm that changed everything
The rain poured hard against the windshield as Mira clutched the steering wheel, her fingers trembling.
“Why now?” she whispered, her throat tight as tears welled up in her eyes. “Why today of all days?”
Her grip tightened, as though the weight of the moment might slip through her fingers.
She had left everything behind—her city, her job, her past.
A fresh start. That was the plan.
The GPS spoke, cold and final.
“You have arrived at your destination.”
She parked in front of a tall, glass building that looked nothing like the small-town firm she had imagined. This was Zayden Corporation—sleek, intimidating, and too polished for someone like her.
Taking a deep breath, Mira stepped out into the rain, suitcase in hand, and walked into her new life.
Inside, the receptionist barely looked up.
“You’re the new assistant? Fifth floor. He’s waiting.”
“He?”
“Mr. Zayden Cole. The CEO.”
Her heart skipped.
The CEO?
She thought she’d been hired as a personal assistant—not for the boss himself.
The elevator ride felt endless.
When the doors opened, she stepped out and nearly collided with a tall man in a dark suit.
His eyes, stormy gray, narrowed.
“You’re late.”
She froze.
“I’m… I’m Mira. The new—”
“I know who you are,” he said flatly. “Follow me.”
He turned, not waiting for a response.
Mira trailed after him, confused and slightly irritated.
Who talks like that?
Inside the office, he sat behind a massive desk.
He didn’t offer her a seat.
“Tell me, Mira,” he said, eyes still on his laptop, “why should I keep you on when you can’t even show up on time?”
She blinked.
“The rain—”
“No excuses. Just answers.”
Her frustration bubbled. She wasn’t used to being talked down to.
“I came here for a new beginning. I don’t plan to fail—no matter how harsh my first impression seems.”
For the first time, he looked up.
There was something in his eyes.
Surprise.
And a hint of intrigue.
“Hm.” He leaned back. “We’ll see how long you last.”
Before she could respond, he stood.
“Your desk is outside. You start now.”
He brushed past her again, their shoulders touching.
She felt it—a spark.
Or was it tension?
Whatever it was, one thing was certain...
This man.
This job.
This city.
None of it was what she expected.
But maybe... just maybe...
This was the challenge she needed.
The one that would force her to become someone she never thought she could be.
