3 April's POV

587 Words
April's POV (Present) I am rushing to the apartment before Colton gets home to make his supper. I don’t want a repeat of what happened last time I was late getting it done on time. Just the thought of it makes a cold chill go down my spine. As I rounded the corner, I was so deep in thought of what my life had become that I walked right into a wall of solid muscle. I am knocked off balance and start to fall to the ground. As I was waiting for the impact, I felt arm's wrap around me and pull me to a solid chest. When I looked up, I was met with the most beautiful green eyes I have ever seen. I am standing there looking into those eyes when I hear someone clear their throat. I look over and I am engulfed in a bone-crushing hug. As we straighten up, Cassie is standing there with a wide grin on her face. I was shocked. “I can't believe it” she said. “I haven't seen you in forever.” I smiled at her and said “I know you look so good” as I swept my eyes over her. I hear someone clearing their throat. Cassie smiled and said “April, I want you to meet my cousin Tylor”. I smiled at him and said, “nice to meet you” and shook his hand. He smiles and says “likewise” Cassie grabs my arm and starts to walk, asking me where I had been and why I didn’t come back to school. I really don’t know what to tell her. She starts rambling as we walk on. I felt eyes on me and started looking around and saw Tylor looking at me. Suddenly, Cassie poked me in the ribs and I wenched. She notices my discomfort and asks if I am alright. I told her I was fine. When she asked what happened, I told her I tripped up the stairs of my apartment building and fell and bruised my ribs. I wasn’t going to tell her that I was late making breakfast for Colton, and he pushed me into the counter and dug his fist into my ribs. She frowned at me. In a low voice she leaned in and asked, “are you still with Colton”. I dropped my gaze to the ground and nodded my head yes. I heard her take a sharp breath and I looked up. She started to dig in her bag, and I glanced at Tylor. He was looking between Cassie and me with a confused look on his face. Cassie pulled out a notepad and pen and started to write something down. She handed me the paper and told me to call her. I took it and put it in my pocket. I turned back to Cassie and said “I have to go but it was nice seeing you again”. She smiled and gave me a hug and said “call me and we can go for coffee sometime”. I told her I would like that.” As I started to walk away, I looked over my shoulder and saw Tylor looking at me. He is a good-looking guy. He has sandy blond hair that is cut long on top and short in the back, around 6’3, with broad shoulders. I sigh and continue to walk home hoping I am not late.
