Tylor’s POV
As I watch April walk away, I have this overwhelming feeling of running after her. Something just doesn’t feel right letting her walk away. I turn and my cousin Cassie is also looking at April walking away. She looks at me and sighs. We start to walk again, and my thoughts are in April. I asked Cassie “where do you know her from?” Cassie tells me “She was her freshmen year dorm roommate when she went to college.”
I just nodded my head. She started telling me about April. As we are getting to the restaurant, we are going to. I go to open the door and out walks the biggest d**k I have ever met (Colton Washburn). Cassie stops in her tracks and moves to the side of me. He walks out with his little entourage but not before almost knocking into Cassie. He looks at her and then looks at me. He plasters on a smile and moves to Cassie to put his arm around her. She shrinks back behind me and holds the back of my shirt.
Colton says “Oh come on Cassie, I haven't seen you in a long time. I want a hug.” and goes to grab her again. I pushed him lightly away from her and said, “keep your hands to yourself, can't you see she doesn’t want you touching her” and crossed my arms.
He throws his head back and laughs. Looks back at his friends and says “look who it is Tylor Hayes, what are you doing in my neck of the woods? Come to spy on my training” and chuckles. I shook my head and told him “I wouldn’t want to see your training regimen; remember I have seen you fight. My nieces' dance training would be better than yours”. He looks pissed. He just shakes his head and chuckles and says, “I don’t have time for this”, looks at his friends and says, “Let's go. I can't keep my women waiting. I have big plans with her tonight”. As he is walking away, he turns around and tells Cassie “I will be sure to tell April you said hi”. And walks away laughing.
I looked over at Cassie and she looked pale. I went to ask her if it was the same April. We met today but she bolted into the restaurant and to the bathroom. I waited by the door for her to come out. When she finally does, her eyes are puffy. We go to sit down at a table, and she starts to look at the menu. After about 10 minutes, she tosses it back on the table and says she is not hungry. I looked at her and asked, “are you going to tell me what is going on”. She says she doesn't want to talk about it here, so we leave and go back to her place.
I went to sit on the couch and wait for her to start. She is just pacing the room. I got up and stopped her and asked, “how do you know Colton and is it the same April we met today he was talking about”. She sighs and says “yes, it’s the same April” and looks down. She goes on and tells me how she knows him and what she put together about April before she just disappeared. She tells me “I think he is the reason she didn’t come back to school. He was always very controlling and jealous if she talked to guys. I think he is the reason she lost her job at the café she worked at back then.” She continued to tell me what she noticed, like April being hurt all the time, saying she fell or walked into a wall. She quit being her normal self (happy all the time). She also told me what happened to a guy named Matt who, April was helping with some course work. She said, “I always thought he had something to do with Matt getting hurt.”
As I sit here listening to what she is saying I am hoping April is OK and that Colton won't take it out on her when he gets home tonight because I pissed him off with my comment.
