Sometimes, we keep certain secrets not because we don't want to be honest but because we want to protect our loved ones from the pain and disappointment that they would experience if they knew. I almost lost Roseline because of the secrets I kept hidden from her and vowed never to keep any more secrets but here I am, hiding yet another thing from her. Not that I wanted to hide it anyway. Mirriam persuaded me into not telling Roseline about our one-time encounter in her suite.
"We can't tell her," she said, her fingers shaking.
"Why?" I asked.
"I know my daughter will go crazy if she found that out. If you love her, you'll help me keep this from her. It happened before you met her but she'll be disappointed in you and me. We can't tell her."
