CHAPTER ONE
*****A Pawnshop******
Aria Flynn's fingers trembled as she grasped the locket, its golden chain slipping through her fingers. Her mother's last gift, a reminder of happier times.
"Please, Mr. Jenkins, help me," Aria begged, desperation creeping into her voice.
The pawnshop owner's expression softened, but his words remained firm. "Aria, I can only offer you five pounds. It's more than the locket's worth."
Aria's heart sank. Five pounds wouldn't cover the rent, let alone the debt to Kael Blackwood.
"Kael Blackwood's men will come for us if I don't pay," Aria's father had said, his eyes sunken with worry that morning before she left.
Aria's determination hardened. "I'll get the money, Father. I promise."
As she left the pawnshop, a chill swept through the damp streets. The gas lamps cast eerie shadows, whispering warnings of the darkness that lurked.
*****Kael Blackwood's Estate****
Kael Blackwood's gaze swept across the ledger, his mind calculating debts and interests. His assistant, Victor, cleared his throat.
"Sir, the Flynn family's debt has surpassed—"
"I know," Kael interrupted, his voice low and commanding. "Send my collectors. I want Aria Flynn brought before me."
Victor's hesitation was palpable. "Sir, consider the...consequences."
Kael's eyes narrowed. "I'll handle the consequences."
As Victor departed, Kael's thoughts drifted to the Flynn family's desperation. Aria's touch would seal her fate.
*****Aria home******
Father,I am sorry I couldn't get enough for the locket so I preferred not to sell it for nothing.
oh dear Aria you should have just collected what was offered to you cause Mr blackwood men would be here today as per agreement and there is nothing to give them, Aria's father Mr Flynn said with worries in his eyes.
Father I know but it's better not to sell it than to sell it cheaply,I would find a way around it I promise don't worry.
(Able bodied men burst into their home and scatterd everywhere scaring Mr Flynn and Aria before leaving with Aria and her father)
********THE BLACKWOOD MANSION********
As Aria and her father, Mr. Flynn, stood before Kael Blackwood's imposing desk, the weight of their debt hung heavy in the air.
"Your loan has reached its limit, Mr. Flynn," Kael declared, his voice cold and unforgiving. "You owe me £5,000, plus interest."
Mr. Flynn's eyes pleaded. "Please, Mr. Blackwood, we'll pay. Just give us more time."
Kael's expression remained unyielding. "Time is a luxury you can no longer afford."
Suddenly, Kael's phone rang. He stood up, his movements fluid, but as he turned to answer the call, his foot slipped on the polished floor.
Aria gasped as Kael fell, his body crashing onto hers. She felt the warmth of his chest against hers, the surprise in his eyes mirroring her own.
But what happened next stunned everyone.
Kael's family and bodyguards rushed to his aid, expecting him to erupt in anger or pain. Instead, he lay calmly, his gaze locked onto Aria's.
"Sir, are you alright?" his butler, Victor, asked, shock etched on his face.
Kael's response was a gentle smile. "I'm fine, Victor."
The room fell silent. Aria's father looked on, bewildered.
"What's going on?" Aria whispered, feeling Kael's warm breath on her skin.
Kael's eyes never left hers. "It seems I've found an...exception."
As Kael slowly stood up, brushing off his clothes, Aria sensed a shift in the atmosphere. The Blackwoods exchanged uneasy glances.
"Take Mr. Flynn into custody," Kael ordered, his voice still calm. "But leave Aria alone."
Aria's heart sank. "No, please! Don't hurt my father!"
Kael's gaze softened. "I won't...hurt him. Yet but I would if you don't do what I ask of you Aria,he said
As the guards led Mr. Flynn away, Aria felt Kael's piercing gaze linger on her.
"What do you want from me?" she asked, trembling.
Kael's smile hinted at secrets. "You'll find out soon enough."
And with that, Aria was left alone in the opulent room, surrounded by the eerie silence of the Blackwood mansion.
***The Blackwood Family's Private Gathering***
Kael's family retreated to their private chambers, their faces etched with a mix of emotions.
"Could it be?" Kael's father, Edward Blackwood, asked, his voice filled with hope. "Is Aria the one?"
Kael's mother, Vivian Blackwood, frowned. "We can't be certain. Her background...it's questionable."
Kael's sister, Lila Blackwood, chimed in. "But what if she is? What if she's the key to breaking the curse?"
Edward's eyes sparkled. "Then our family's suffering will finally end. Kael will be free."
Vivian's expression softened. "But at what cost? Aria's family is...troubled. We can't ignore that."
Lila's voice filled with empathy. "I understand Mother's concerns, but think of Kael's happiness. He's been cursed for so long."
Kael, standing at the edge of the room, remained silent, his eyes clouded with uncertainty.
"I don't know if I believe it," he said finally. "Aria could be a fluke. A coincidence."
Edward's face set in determination. "We need to confirm it. Arrange another test."
Vivian nodded. "Agreed. But discreetly. We can't risk Aria discovering the curse."
Lila's eyes sparkled. "I'll prepare the east wing for the test. We'll make it seem like a casual encounter."
Kael's gaze narrowed. "And if she's not the one?"
Edward's voice hardened. "Then we continue searching. But I sense something about Aria...something special."
The family dispersed, each lost in their thoughts.
*******The Test******
Later that day, Aria was escorted to the east wing, unaware of the Blackwoods' intentions.
As she entered the lavishly decorated room, Kael stood by the window, his back to her.
"Aria," Lila said, her voice sweet. "Join us for tea."
I should join you for tea, you guys f*****g locked up my father after our pleas and you want me to join you for tea and that in this secluded place so people won't see us together, woah just woah blackwood's.
Would you seat down and join us for tea or would you rather be thrown out of the mansion and that without seeing your father again,Kael said
Aria approached the table and sat down angrily with her eyes locked on Kael's rigid posture.
As she reached for a cup, Kael turned, their hands brushing.
The room held its breath.
Would Kael react?
Would the curse prevail?
Or would Aria prove to be the exception?
