The Search for My Mate

Michelle POV I woke up 20 minutes late on August 27th and rolled out of bed to take a quick shower. If I’m not downstairs to join the pack for breakfast my mom will kill me. As I begin rushing to get dressed I hear my mom yelling for me from down the hall. “Michelle Josephine If you do not get down these stairs in 2 minutes I will send your father up there!” My mother is the Luna of our pack and my father is the Alpha, so they always want everyone in our family on time. “Okay mom, I’m on my way!” I yell back. As I am going down the stairs from the top floor, my best friend walked out of her room. “Hey Jade, how are you this lovely morning?” I joke, knowing that she hates morning time. She looks back at me and rolls her eyes and says “You know if my parents weren’t the Betas I would sleep through this damn breakfast, waking up in the morning is complete bullshit”. I laugh at her as we continue our way down the stairs. When we arrive at breakfast Jeanie, my favorite omega has already prepared me a pate of my favorite breakfast, pancakes, and bacon. I thank her and take my seat. Everything is going normal until my mother begins to talk about her plans for my 18th birthday party. She and my father have waited for this day for what feels like an eternity. My mother began to talk about decorations and plans, while I trailed off in thought. They have always talked about me finding my mate and having true love. They even soundproofed my bedroom because wolfs are known to have loud, crazy s*x with their mates when they find them. I, on the other hand, am nervous. I know that wolfs are supposed to find their mate and spend the rest of their lives with them happily, but there have been cases of wolfs being rejected by their mates, and what if that happens to me? I have no clue if I would be able to handle that sort of pain. My parents have assured me, that with my rank, and purity, no mate would ever reject me, but I am still nervous. I was brought back to reality by my mother saying that she has invited many other high ranking members from other packs to my birthday party. And that is when it set in, my mate could be someone from a different pack, and I would have to leave my home and everyone I’ve ever known and loved for him. I became even more nervous than I was before.  After breakfast, the rest of the day flew by. The next thing I knew it was 10 pm and I was getting ready for bed. I laid in bed thinking about everything that was going to change and soon drifted off into sleep. The next morning I was awoken to the sound of craziness in the packhouse. Even though my family lives on the 5th floor and my room was soundproof, it was still madness. I took a quick shower and headed downstairs to see what was going on. When I arrived on the 2nd floor, the rooms were being prepared by the omegas for our soon to be guests. I continued my way down to find the whole first floor being rearranged to allow for more space during my party the next night. When I finally found my mother she was going crazy telling people where to put things. “I want the couch up against the far wall and the chair next to it! Thank you, dear. Oh, Michelle! Breakfast is being prepared, and afterward you and Jade are going to go shopping for a dress for your party tomorrow!” Before I could respond I was cut off by her giving more directions to the people helping her. So I went to the dining room where I found Jade and her family. I took my seat, and as the others filled in breakfast was benign brought out. As promised, after breakfast my mother sent Jade and me in a car to the city to go shopping.
