Charlie absolutely hated being out of the house, not only did the heat annoy the living hell out of her, the people out and about pissed her off more. All the bumping and pushing was the most irritating thing that people could do. Like why?? Why do it? she found it hard to control her urge to s**t into her wold and bit their heads off but she knew that would be no good.
Charlie had lost everything she was only 6 years old. Her mother was dead that much she knew; she was pretty sure her father was too but she could never place the man that entered her dreams at night she knew he had no relation to her but still, he had done something, he had saved her. at least that was what she thought. Charlie had been a rouge since the day she had lost her family, she had been found wandering the woods by a female human who had promptly thrown her into an orphanage. She had been in and out of the wretched place due to the families and foster families not being able to control her. she remembered making her great escape from the horrible place at the age of 12 and quickly learned how to survive on her own.
She quickly made her way into the store, grabbing a basket as she rushed in through the door. unfortunately, Charlie grabbed one that had already been commandeered by another, she looked up at the unknown person ready to tell them off, she was so not in the mood. her eyes met the brightest blue eyes she had ever seen, it didn’t stop there her gaze traveled down the nose and to the lips, oh those lips, that were now curving up in a smile. Charlie quickly let go of the basket but the unknown man seemed to have the same idea.
The basket fell to the floor with a clang, quickly grabbing another, she turned on her heel and quickly made her escape. Leaving the guy chuckling as she left, he couldn’t help watch her as she went, she had smelt like an apple and was just enticing to watch. Charlie shook her head to clear the piercing blue eyes from her mind, walking down the item aisle as she named the items she needed: milk, sugar, coffee, over and over in her mind. Grabbing each item as she spotted them, then headed towards the tills so she could pay and get the f**k out of here, get back home and back to work. She bit down on her back teeth thinking about the fact that she would have to go back to edit photographs of someone that she would rather burn. Her Ex.
Charlie sighed heavily as I stood in line. Noticing that the man she was standing behind was tall, crazy tall! She couldn’t help but stare, it was fascinating yet annoying that people were so much taller than her. Being only 1.48m tall it wasn’t hard for someone to tower over her, she continued staring, lost in thought, where luck would have it the man turned around, aaaand she had been caught out, she shook her head as her eyes met his brilliant blue eyes, he smiled and let off a breathy laugh as she looked down at her feet, f**k.
“We meet again,” he said smoothly. She looked up at him, his voice was magical, it had some kind of draw but she was able to ignore the pull she felt. he would make some awesome pictures she thought to herself, all the while man looked at her, as she stood there seemingly lost in her own thoughts, her biting on her bottom lip. He smirked before he cleared his throat, which seemed to bring her out of her mind. she raised her brow at him
“Ever think of modeling?” she asked without actually thinking, “you could probably make a good career out of it” at this point she didn’t know what she saying, but she was just running with it and quite obviously, her own mouth.
He smiled but didn’t reply, as he moved forward and paid for his items. Charlie watched as he moved, his muscles seemed to be screaming for release from the confines of the button-up shirt he wore. He glanced at her sideways and smirked, he was enjoying the attention, wild thoughts running through his head as her scent reached his nose, she just smelt so good. Charlie lifted her brow at him, he smelt weird but at the same time he smelt familiar, she tried gathering her thoughts but found herself to be staring at him again she quickly fished for her phone in her pocket, pretending to be busy with something as she tried to make heads or tails at the man’s scent. the man snuck one last look before he made his way out of the shop
“Ma’am?”
“Huh?” Charlie sounded looking up in confusion, he had gone and the cashier was now looking at her annoyed. It made her wonder how long he had been gone for.
“Paper or plastic” she snapped now reaching out to take the things that Charlie put down on the till
“Ah, paper” Charlie muttered looking around, the lady behind the till shook her head and placed the items in the bag, Charlie paid and almost ran out of the shop.
Back at home Charlie threw her newly bought items onto the counter, grabbing the kettle and filling it, flipping the switch to get it going, she stared off into the distance, her mind busy as her cat came trotting around the corner. The small black cat stooped at Charlie's feet meowing up at her, on autopilot Charlie stretched her arm out, the small cat taking a leap up from the floor into my arms as purred as Charlie smooshed her face against the soft fur, and setting her down again once the kettle started to steam and scream, signaling that it was done.
Armed with a cup of coffee Charlie sat down at the computer and started with the editing. Hell knows why she had agreed to do this shoot, she pulled a face as she started on the next picture. The woman looking up at her through her lashes made her stomach turn, her pregnant belly pissing her off all over again. She had spent an hour editing the picture, having added devil horns and wrinkles and a whole lot of things just to make the woman in the picture look bad, happy with what she had just done, she deleted the picture and started over, this time editing the picture to make the already glowing woman look like a goddess. She sighed as she went on to the next, and the next, and the next.
Charlie looked up at the window, as her alarm went off, the sun had disappeared and the street lights outside had lightened up. she stood up slowly, walking towards the door she opened the door and took a long deep breath of the night air. She leaned against the door frame as she looked at the bright full moon.
“Awooo” she giggled and then took another breath, her eyes closed as images flashed through her mind. all that anger she had thought she left behind, came boiling up again. she could feel her pain in her chest all over again, that feeling for gasping for air but unable to get any.
*Flashback*
“babe? Are you home?” Charlie called out as she walked in through the unlocked door, it was way too early for him to already be home. “babe?” she called out again, her heart in her throat as her eyes caught sight of a pair of bright pink high heels, that was definitely not hers, laying on the floor. She took a few steps forward and that’s when she heard noises, no, moaning, coming from the room. Her stomach felt like a lump of iron had it the bottom of it as she walked slowly towards the door, her blood running cold as her hand touched the door, she knew what she was about and she was sure she knew with who.
Charlie pushed the door open slowly. The woman’s long blond hair was swishing around as her whole body bounced up and down. Charlie felt what felt like an explosion in her chest, she dropped the bottle of wine that had been in her hand, the sound was deafening. The woman spun around, moving and trying to cover herself up with the smuggest look on her face. Charlie said nothing as she turned and started to walk away. Joe came tumbling out the room grabbing her arm and begging her to listen. Saying that it was a moment of weakness, nothing more.
“excuse me,” the woman said rushing up to them, wrapped with a sheet around her body
“Weakness?” the woman retorted “that isn’t what you said, yesterday or the day before that”. Charlie had heard enough. She was seeing read and could stop herself with what happened next. Charlie swung her arm back and forward with a force, her fist landing against the woman’s stupid face. A cracking crunch beneath her knuckles made her smile. The woman staggered backward, screaming and clutching her face as Charlie walked away as she felt her bones beginning to pop, she knew she needed to get out of sight in case all hell broke loose. Joe was unsure of what to do as he looked from where Charlie had been standing to the other woman who was shouting about her perfect face being broken as her hand was stretched over her face.
Charlie pressed herself against the coolness of the wall in the kitchen, taking a deep breath as she steadied herself
“f*****g humans” she growled to herself as she walked over to the counter, the butcher's knife catching her eye. She stared at it for a few seconds before she grabbed it from the chopping block
“Now let’s not do anything rash,” Joe said trying to get his leg into his jeans without falling over. Charlie walked out of the kitchen and back into the lounge, coming out with a butcher knife in her hand.
“Get out of my house,” she said under my breath, looking straight at him. he lifted his hands walking backward and towards the tart taking her by the arm and leading her towards the door. she was still wrapped in Charlie’s sheet,
f**k it now I would have to burn all of the bedding, she thought to herself as the door closed behind them. Charlie felt the blood drain from her face she looked around the living room. unable to stand she slid down on the floor as tears began to stream down her cheeks.
*end of flashback*
Charlie opened her eyes once again looking at the bright white moon before she started making her way to the back of the house. She smiled and chuckled at the memory of the woman’s shocked face after she had been punched, the blood that gushed from her nose, her stupid high-pitched scream.
she remembered the night, all too well when he came crawling back, begging for her forgiveness as she piled all his clothes, and belonging outside on the lawn.
“Baby please it was a mistake” he begged her. Charlie continued to dump gasoline over his things and lit a match while looking him deadpan in the face, throwing it onto the pile. He yelled as he asked what the f**k she was doing. Charlie had laughed as she made her way back into the house. That didn’t last long though, she ended up on the floor tears streaming down her face as she longed to touch Joe again, he spent another 10 minutes slamming his fits against the door each bang booming through her spine.
The thought made her angry, she had hoped he had been her mate but she was slowly coming to realize that she might not actually have one. Charlie walked into the woods that circled her house, looking around to make sure no one was watching her before she stripped down.
Her bones began to creak and pop as she shifted into her wolf form, she didn’t do this as often as most wolves. She had learned a lot from the roughs that she had come across when she was younger. The one thing that she had been taught was more she shifted the easier it would become.
Charlie stood against the tree, the grass soft against her big paws, she began walking about aimlessly before taking off in a full-blown sprint
*Flashback*
“Who is there?” a man shouted as a little girl no older than 13 years emerged from the darkness of the woods around them. she looked dirty and starving.
“It’s a child,” a woman said standing up next to him touching the man’s arm before she moved towards the child. Who flinched slightly as she reached out to her. she pulled her hand back in hesitation before reaching out again and taking the girl's hand.
“You are roughs,” the girls said walking slowly behind the woman as she guided her towards the campfire, the woman’s eyes flashed with a hidden sadness as she sat down on a decaying log.
“We lost our pack 6 years ago in an attack,” the man said looking into the flames “those that were smart enough to flee were the only ones to live”
“Magnus!” the woman hissed, before looking up at the child and smiling “What is your name child?”
“Charlie,” she said softly, she looked up at the woman’s face, her eyes were wide.
“The Beta daughter?” the woman said in a soft voice, but it had lost all its care, it sounded dangerous. Charlie quickly shook her head.
“I don’t know where I come from, I was brought up in the orphanage down the lane" charlie lied. The woman seemed to visibly relax,
“You have a wolf? What is her name” the woman questioned, Charlie looked up at her confused?
“my name is Charlie,” Charlie said slowly, confused by what the woman was asking. The woman pulled a face looking at the man that sat next to her.
“ I can smell your wolf,” she said slowly “what is her name,” the woman asked again, when Charlie didn’t answer she sighed “I am Miranda, my wolf is Maddie, has your wold made its self-known to you?”
“I can shift if that is what you are asking”
“it’s not,” the man said looking at her with a brow lifted, every Werewolf has a wolf in them, a second-half if you will. The wolf and the human are separate but one” he said slowly making sure he was making sense to the young girl that sat in front of him. Charlie stared out into the flame and shook her head
“I have a wolf form,” she said slowly
*End Flashback*
Charlie came to as she hit the border of the old pack territory, she had been surprised with how close she had been to it when she had bought her house. she panted as she looked around wearily, the last time she had been here there had been roughs that were hiding out in the buildings, ones that she didn’t know. She trotted along the road towards a building that had been blackened by fires that has swept through the village. Letting out a huff before her huge head pushed its way in through the door. using her back paw she bumped the door closed behind her.
