Chapter 41
Nathalie’s POV
Something was different about Sharlene.
I noticed it the moment she walked into the room.
She was smiling.
Not the polite smile she always gave people.
A real smile.
The kind that reached her eyes.
I looked at Daniela.
“Do you see it too?”
Daniela smiled.
“Oh, I definitely see it.”
Sharlene looked at us suspiciously.
“Why are you both looking at me like that?”
I crossed my arms.
“Because you’re hiding something.”
She immediately looked away.
“I’m not.”
Daniela laughed.
“Sharlene, you’re terrible at lying.”
Before she could respond, the door opened.
Greyson walked in.
And suddenly everything made sense.
I looked between them.
Then I smiled.
“Finally.”
Sharlene’s eyes widened.
“What?”
“You and Greyson.”
Her cheeks turned slightly pink.
Daniela gasped dramatically.
“You’re together?”
Greyson smiled.
“Yes.”
The room immediately became full of excitement.
“I knew it!” Daniela shouted.
Sharlene covered her face.
“You two are unbelievable.”
I laughed.
But deep down, I was happy for her.
After everything she had been through, she deserved someone who made her feel loved.
Later that evening, Greyson met with Finnick and Lionel.
“So,” Finnick said, smiling. “The impossible finally happened.”
Greyson frowned.
“What?”
“You actually fell in love.”
Lionel laughed.
“I never thought I would see the day.”
Greyson rolled his eyes.
“Very funny.”
But everyone could see it.
He was different.
The old Greyson was confident and carefree.
This Greyson was softer.
Happier.
Because of Sharlene.
⸻
That night, I sat with Zachary at dinner.
For once, there was no argument between us.
No distance.
Just silence that felt comfortable.
“You’re happy for them,” he said.
I smiled.
“Of course.”
“Even after everything you’ve been through?”
I looked at him.
“Everyone deserves happiness, Zachary.”
He was quiet for a moment.
Then he said softly,
“You really are different.”
I looked at him.
“What do you mean?”
He looked away.
“I don’t know.”
But I noticed something.
The way he looked at me was changing.
Slowly.
⸻
Meanwhile, Greyson and Sharlene stood outside under the night sky.
“I still can’t believe you said yes,” Greyson whispered.
Sharlene smiled.
“I can’t believe you didn’t give up.”
He held her hand.
“I told you.”
“What?”
“I won’t give up on you.”
She rested her head against his shoulder.
And for that moment…
They believed nothing could break them.
