Nathalie’s POV
The hospital room had finally become quieter.
My family had spent most of the afternoon with me, and although I was exhausted, having everyone around made me feel safe.
I was talking to Samantha when the door suddenly opened.
Daniela walked in first.
“Nathalie!”
I smiled.
“Daniela!”
She hurried toward me and hugged me carefully.
“I heard you were in the hospital. You scared me!”
“I’m fine,” I assured her.
Then I heard another voice.
“She’s always saying she’s fine.”
I looked toward the doorway.
Sharlene.
My eyes immediately lit up.
“You came!”
She smiled and walked inside.
But then I noticed something.
Someone was standing behind her.
Greyson.
I raised an eyebrow.
Sharlene immediately noticed my expression.
“What?”
I looked between the two of them.
“Why are you together?”
Daniela turned around.
Her eyes widened.
“Oh.”
Greyson laughed.
“We just happened to meet outside the hospital.”
Sharlene nodded quickly.
“Exactly.”
I narrowed my eyes.
“Outside the hospital?”
“Yes,” Greyson answered.
“At the same time?”
Sharlene glanced at him.
Greyson glanced at her.
Daniela burst out laughing.
“You two sound like you’re rehearsing the same excuse!”
Everyone laughed.
Even Greyson.
Sharlene covered her face.
“There is nothing going on!”
I smiled.
“Of course.”
She pointed at me.
“Don’t start.”
I raised my hands innocently.
“I didn’t say anything.”
Greyson pulled a chair closer.
“We came to check on Nathalie. That’s all.”
I looked at him suspiciously.
“Hmm.”
Sharlene sat beside me.
“Stop looking at us like that.”
“I know you, Sharlene.”
She smiled.
“And?”
“And you’re hiding something.”
Her cheeks turned slightly pink.
Greyson noticed.
A small smile appeared on his face.
I noticed that too.
Interesting.
Very interesting.
For the first time in days, I laughed without forcing it.
And as I looked at Sharlene and Greyson, I had a strange feeling.
Something had begun between them.
Neither of them wanted to admit it yet.
But I could see it.
Sometimes love didn’t announce itself.
Sometimes…
It simply walked into your life when you weren’t looking.
