Chapter 4

1044 Words
Charles watched as Molly ran out the door after an older man, whom he was suspecting was her new partner. He tried to focus on his training but it was no use. He needed to talk to Layla. Charles casually walked over to the drinking fountain where she was and pretended to tie his shoe. “Roof.” He whispered as he got up and waited for the drinking fountain. Layla finished getting her drink and rubbed the back of her neck with her right hand. This was their secret signal. She walked away and acted as though she was going to get back into training. Charles took his drink of water and turned to exit the gym. He didn’t get too far before he ran into the institution’s coach, Helga. “Vere do you zink you are koing?” Charles paused for a second, trying not to seem to eager to leave. “I was just going to go for a run around the building. Inside of course! There’s just too many people to run into in here.” Helga glared at him. “You petder pe pack in ten minutes. I haffe mein eye on you.” Charles backed out of the room with his hands up in surrender. “Vateffer you zay, Helga.” He smirked as he ran out of the room before she could curse at him for mocking her accent. Charles didn’t even pretend that he was going to jog around the building. He knew the security on the building inside and out. He ran immediately for the door to the stairs and bolted to the top. He pulled the key he stole out of his pocket to gain access to the roof. Once he had shut the door, he turned around and looked for Layla. They only had a few minutes before Helga really would call security on him. “Layla? It’s just me. Come on. We have to talk.” Layla came around a corner and gave him an irritated look. “Oh, now you wanna talk? Didn’t you just call me a witch to that… child?” Charles rolled his eyes. “Chill out. At least I didn’t call you a bitch.” He smirked and shrugged his shoulders. “I hardly see a difference.” “Please. You’re the one who said we had to keep up pretenses. Molly doesn’t like you and as far as she knows, neither do I.” Layla smirked and walked up to him until her chest was against his. “We both know that’s a lie.” Charles smiled and slammed his mouth against hers. Their lips moved in unison as their kiss became deeper and more passionate. Layla took her hands and started to lift his shirt. Charles broke the kiss and backed up. “Sorry, sweetheart. We don’t have time for that. I really need to talk to you.” Layla became irritated again and sat on a wooden box that was sitting on the roof. “Fine. What do you want to talk about?” Charles sat on the box next to her. “Okay. So Molly was telling me that she’s going on her first assignment but it’s with an older agent.” “Really? You wanna talk about Molly with me when we could be doing other things?” “Yes. I mean no. I mean this isn’t about Molly.” Charles ran his hands through his hair unsure how to escape his situation. Layla sighed. “Could’ve fooled me. But whatever. Fine. What’s this about then?” Charles looked her in the eyes with a serious face. “It’s about her new partner. I didn’t catch a name because you walked up to fast, but I caught a glimpse of him and I’ve never seen him before.” Layla stood up and started to pace. “Well sorry that I didn’t like seeing her all over you.” “We are not having this argument again. She’s like my little sister. No romantic feelings between either of us.” “You can’t know that about her. She’s an impressionable young girl and you’re-.” “Layla! Focus!” Charles screamed as he stood up beside her. The two of them looked around to make sure that no one had heard his sudden outburst. “Be a little louder, would you?” Layla hissed at him. Charles threw his head back and closed his eyes. “I’m sorry. You can just drive me nuts sometimes.” “Yeah I know. But that’s one of the things you love about me.” Layla smirked and wrapped her arms around his neck. “Okay. So you think Molly’s new partner is the one we’re looking for?” Charles smiled and pulled her closer by her waist. “Yes. Can you do your magic and figure out what you can about him? Please? If I’m right, Molly’s in danger. You know how important she is.” Layla smiled, liking hearing him beg. “Of course, I will. But you know you’re going to have to pay up eventually.” She whispered seductively into his ear before she pulled back. Charles didn’t let her go though. He held her tighter and started kissing down her neck. “Tonight. Molly’s going to be gone and busy, so you’ll have me all to yourself. That is if you have some results of course though.” Layla let out a giggle and pushed him away. He willingly let her and started walking towards the door. Their ten minutes was up. “Hey! Where’s my kiss?” Layla pouted. Charles smiled over his shoulder. “Like I said, tonight if you have any results.” He winked at her and went back to the gym before Helga could punish him.
