Dear Stary,
Thank you for the opportunity, but after reading through the contract, I’ve chosen not to participate on your platform. There are several issues that I find problematic.
The grant of rights for the entire term of copyright is excessive, and the contract’s restrictions on exiting the agreement—especially the requirement to repay all earnings over three years—are too stringent. Having to pay back double for Premium Content only makes this more concerning.
The required output for bonuses—such as writing 50,000 words per month and daily chapter updates—simply isn’t feasible for me. The added pressure of another writer being brought in to continue my work if I fall behind is unacceptable.
Moreover, the payment schedule lacks clarity. Without clear guidelines on when payments will be made and how revenue will be calculated, I’m not confident that I would receive fair compensation.
The first refusal clause on future works is also concerning, as it lacks a clear timeline and leaves me without the option to refuse an offer.
Lastly, the strict confidentiality requirements and penalties for breach are too restrictive, making me uncomfortable with the overall terms.
For these reasons, I will not be moving forward.
Sincerely,
Lexi
