Dear Stary,
After reviewing the terms of your contract, I’ve made the decision not to participate on your platform. I appreciate the opportunity, but several aspects of the agreement raise concerns.
First, the rights grant for the full term of copyright is overly restrictive. The limited ability to terminate the contract, especially with the requirement to repay earnings over a 36-month period—potentially at double for Premium Content—is too harsh.
Additionally, the punishing writing schedule for bonuses—such as daily chapter updates and 50,000 words per month—is unrealistic for me. The possibility of another writer taking over my work if I can’t keep up is unacceptable.
The lack of transparency in payment terms and financial reporting is another issue. Without clear guidelines on payment timelines and revenue calculations, there’s too much uncertainty surrounding fair compensation.
The first right of refusal clause on future works is also problematic, as it lacks both a set deadline and the flexibility to decline.
Finally, the confidentiality clauses and penalties for breach are too restrictive, leaving me uncomfortable with the overall terms.
For these reasons, I must respectfully decline.
Best regards,
Lexi
