Chapter 11
HaleyOnly two weeks until Christmas, it was time to decorate. Unlike last year or the year before, Haley wouldn’t spend the holiday alone. Excitement bubbled inside her chest. This year, she’d decorate the house inside and outside, much like her gran had. Earlier in the day, she’d picked up a fresh evergreen wreath and a nine-foot pine garland to hang around the door.
From the utility room, she grabbed her puffy coat hanging on a hook. "Jakey boy, I’ll be right back," she said as she opened the door and stepped outside. Heaven it was cold today. Oh, well, she’d hang the garland and be back inside the house in a flash. She hastened to the garage, snagged the four-foot ladder and dragged it to the porch.
