Betrayed by fate, accepted by my worst enemy

Jade turned to look at the man lying beside her. He was tall,handsome with a strong physique. She hurriedly wore her clothes and ran. The man wasn't someone she was ready to offend,yet. She needed him for something more important than just a one night stand. The night before was a long orchestrated plan she had carried out against the most revered and feared prince of the capital's most elite mafia clan. She was not just playing with fire,she had signed up for her death warrant. If the prince unfolded her scheme,she was as good as dead. Yet the seemingly innocent Jade was not scared. She had decided she'd rather die in the hands of the bloodthirsty prince than her bloodsucking family. As she sat in the lecture hall,she recounted the events that led to that dangerous decision. Jade was admired by everyone in and around Dragon Springs University. She was the campus belle and the most outstanding student academically. If one had to look for her flaws,then she had none. She was the perfect beautiful and independent career driven student who lacked nothing. Only she knew this was just a facade. Behind the sexy,innocent and charming face,lay a broken soul hurt and betrayed not just by family but also by fate. She was only six years old when her family abandoned her on claims of being a cursed star of doom. Since her conception,her father had said,everything went wrong in the family. Her brother was disabled in the family construction site, her sister was divorced by her husband on baseless accusations,her niece dead of congenital anomalies and her mother succumbed to post partum bleeding. That fateful morning,her father held her hand and went shopping. But she had underestimated her father's selfishness and cruelty. On the pretext of using the washroom,he left her alone and she was whisked away by kidnappers. She was only six but she noted the knowing glances between her father and the kidnappers. She was terrified,scared,alone but she had no one to rely on except herself. As they drew far and far away from the urban center,she knew she had to decide her fate henceforth. By dusk,they were in the middle of nowhere where she was abandoned by the kidnappers and left to the hands of fate. She lay down under a tree,gnawed by mosquitoes and flies. She cried herself faint and when she came to,she was too weak to lift her legs. But she had a firm resolve,she was not ready to die just yet. She crawled into the wilderness and chewed leaves,wild fruits and roots to survive. That evening,she came across an old habitat that looked like an ancient temple. She stealthily crept inside and sat by the lit lanterns eating offerings that were almost going bad. As she slept ,she had a nightmare. It was horrifying and as she tried to unravel the meaning of the dream, a shadow appeared. She looked up with fear slowly to meet the terrifyingly calm face of the temple attendant. He was an old man with a rather righteous aura. He held her hand and led her to a nearby room. After what seeming like a century, he finally spoke. " You're not a harbinger of doom but the celestial star of peace and blessings. The happenings in your family are not your wrongdoing but a predefined threshold of suffering that was as a result of your father's sins. Worse things will happen until you meet your fated partner. Until you two have an understanding,he will help you with blood to break your calamity. if you don't meet him before you turn twenty five,you will endure five years of excruciating pain before you meet a painful death," he sighed as he patted her shoulder. She was only an innocent little girl,why did she have to bear the weight of her father's wrongdoings. She didn't even know what her father had done to warrant her misery throught her short-lived life. She begged the temple attendant to allow her stay. Everyday she trained relentlessly hoping to uncover the untold dangerous secret of her father. Time flew by and she was now a radiant pretty young lady in campus. Though her life was filled with bitterness,sorrow, loneliness and longing,she portrayed a rather different image. No one knew her outside the school vicinity and even within the school premises, she maintained an aloof personality. She had no friends just a pool of admirers and stalkers who just wanted to get close.
