Instead of stalling further, I built up the courage to call Drew last night. He agreed he would come over today. Kian ended up crashing on my couch downstairs anyway but at the time of Drew's arrival he would stay upstairs and hover for my safety. Drew would be arriving around 2, and glancing at my watch, I realized was any minute.
I was wearing a yellow tee from Brandy Melville and high waisted black shorts with my hair in a bun. Nothing too special but nothing too comfortable. I was still getting used to actually getting ready every morning.
"Hey sweetheart." he said just coming inside kissing my cheek. I cringed at the word sweetheart and I pulled away. "Is everything alright Rosi?"
"No it's not. I asked you to come over because I had to tell you, we need to break up."
"You're kidding me, right." He said, grabbing at my hands.
"I'm sorry Drew, I just can't do this and for this reason."
"You are such a b***h Rosi." He stated, raising a hand at me, I looked away in terror fearing the worst. I dropped down to the ground to try and escape as I heard pounding on the staircase.
It was Kian running downstairs "I swear to god if you touch her!"
"What the hell Kian!" He yelled turning his attention to him, getting ready to fight.
"Leave now!" Kian yelled. Drew didn't even look to me, he put relaxed his fighting stance and walked out without a word.
I didn't want to move, the floor provided me comfort as I still felt the tension throughout my body.
"Rosi?" Kian asked, sinking down to my level.
"I'm okay." I told him as he stroked my arm in comfort.
"I know you are, you are strong. And that's why I love you Rosi." He said leaning in to kiss my lips.
"I love you too Kian." I said parting and immediately wrapping my arms around him. In that moment I realized something; I had just told my best friend that I loved him.
After breaking up with Drew, I found the true answer I had been searching for. I truly did love Kian, and there was a part of me that always has.
He guided me up so that we could both sit on the couch together, maybe work some through things.
"Now I know that was terrible, but I expected it to be worse." I told him.
"Wait you thought he would get ... violent?" He asked.
"Yeah, that's what I guessed. But I knowing that you were here made me worry about that less." I told him, even laughing a bit.
"I'm glad I could be here for help." he said with a smile.
"That whole ordeal with Drew was exactly what I needed to understand the truth, ya know?" I told.
"What truth, and how?" He asked looking a bit confused.
"I am finally able to see clearly on who I love, and Kian that's you!" I said, happiness spread on my face.
My phone buzzed, but Kian picked it up. I just knew who it was. Kian laughed and showed me the screen.
From: Drew
I'm sorry, can we please work this out.
To: Drew
Absolutely not.
From: Drew
Give me a chance Rosi.
To: Drew
Just delete my number Drew.
I kept it short and simple. I turned off my phone and threw it to the side chair, not wanting to worry about the situation any more.
"Now that it's no longer a touchy subject, do you remember that summer day last year?" He asked grabbing my hand.
"How could I forget?" I told him smiling but his face changed slightly.
"I've been wondering, why did you run away?" He asked.
"Oh, that. Kian, I was mortified and I felt awkward. You were my first kiss, it was a good kiss too. And, like, what was I supposed to do? Just sit down and smile like an i***t? Honestly I-" I stopped for a second to realize what I had just said. "Holy s**t, does that mean I have liked you this whole time?" I asked as if he knew that answer for me.
"It's okay, I understand now. And I feel the same way." He said, "I missed your kiss."
"Well it's right here whenever you want it."
