It was finally the morning, to be specific, the morning of a day that I won't forget. Tonight I would be going on a date with Drew. I woke up and it was already 11, I was definitely not used to sleeping in that late. My morning routine went something like washing my face and then going downstairs to eat breakfast. A meal didn't sound too appealing so I resorted to eating blueberries, that's it. Back upstairs, I decided to call Mindy telling her to come over at 4, just for extra reinforcement. Continuing the routine, I did my usual stuff like putting in my contacts and brushing my hair.
Before I knew it, it was 4 because I while my parents were away at work, I did absolutely nothing.
-ding-dong-
"Hey girl! Are you ready?" Mindy asked as soon as I opened the door.
"I guess so! Oh and Kian is coming over in a bit." I told her so she wouldn't surprised later on.
"I'm going to be honest Rosi, I always thought after that summer day you and Kian would-"
"Mindy. Can we not?" I cut her off.
"Now let's get the dress on first so we don't ruin your hair and makeup when you go to put it on" she told me leading me up to my own room.
"This isn't prom Mindy..." I reassured her as she threw me my dress to put on.
"I don't give a s**t, it's Drew!" She told me laughing "This is huge for you Rosi!"
I went in my walk-in closet to change into my dress, I zipped it my self and checked it in the mirror. That's when I heard someone walk in the room, and of course it was Kian.
"Is she changing?" He asked as I turned the knob.
"Oh my god Rosi!" Mindy squealed, her typical response.
"Rosi you are- oh my god- Rosi look beautiful." And when he told me that I blushed. He never failed at being kind to me.
In that moment, just for a few second, Kian kept my gaze.
"I'm gonna be right back, I need to get something from my car." Mindy told us leaving and shutting the door behind her.
"Sorry" Kian said scratching the back of his neck.
"No it's ok, are you sure I look fine?" I asked I felt so awkward being in a dress, I haven't worn one in ages, everything felt off.
"Rosi, you are truly stunning, Drew is lucky to have a girl like you because you are everything any guy would want."
"Thank you so much Kian" I told him hugging him, as we parted we looked into each other's eyes. For a second I completely forgot where I even was. I started to lean in but quickly backed away from the boy when I heard Mindy's foot steps. Kian did the same, the tension surely growing.
"Damn I leave you two alone for a minute and it's it feels all awkward in here." she told us laughing and grabbing at me to start on my hair.
She restraightened my hair for a smooth look and put the top third in a small ponytail. My surprisingly long hair hung down, I could feel it in the dress's opening on my back. She then started on my makeup, doing a whole lot of things I didn't understand, like with concealer and foundation? Then she did a light gold eye look, natural but still a step up from my usual. She then added highlight to my cheeks before finishing with a natural pink gloss.
Finally she stepped back to symbolize that she was done.
"Done!" She said showing me to Kian who's distracted daze turned into an interested, engaging stare.
"Oh shit." he said standing me up and twirling me around.
Checking my phone, I saw it was almost 7 and Mindy was still trying to touch up my hair and spots in my dress. I put on my the simple black heels and swung a black shoulder bag over my shoulder. I put on some perfume I had gotten from Victoria's Secret as well and went to wait by the door. Kian gave me one last hug and so did Mindy right before Drew pulled in my drive way. I walked out saying goodbye to my friends, which was harder than I thought. Not the goodbye part, the walking in heels part, this is impossible.
"No way, is that really Rosi?" He greeted me.
"It's me!" I said smiling.
"Let's go" he said opening his car door for me, like the gentlemen I always see in movies.
We drove straight to a famously known, fancy restaurant downtown. We were fortunately seated in a corner booth with romantic, candle lighting and melodious songs played over head. We talked over drinks for what seemed like the longest time, our conversations seemed endless.
"So seriously you look so beautiful, why did you change your style?" He asked.
"I don't know I wasn't all that happy with my look and I needed a more mature style" I told him truthfully.
"Well, it's just another quality I have come to like about you." He said, causing a redness to form on my cheeks.
We didn't waste any time ordering food, everything they served her was absolutely divine. It was around 9 o'clock when we finally finished all of our food. When leaving to go outside, I realized it was a bit colder than what I expected. Of course I didn't bring a jacket and we had to walk down a couple blocks to the car. And just like in the movies, Drew noticed and lent me his jacket. He even held me tight against him to keep me warm.
On our drive home we talked a little bit more, even though so much had already been said. Arriving at my house, I said my many thank you's and turned to get out of the car.
"Wait, Rosi." He said. I turned my head back around to respond but instead waiting for me was a small kiss. Nothing too major, but just enough to cause me to freak out. I was beyond happy and in awe.
"Goodnight beautiful." he told me as I finally got out.
