Chapter 9

Rose's p.o.v

After Kai told me about Belli being pregnant I knew we needed to save her from Kari's wrath, so we shifted and ran as far as we could in the direction both scents were coming from. Now I was begging him to come home with me, I could tell he was confused as to how I could hear his thoughts and how I knew he was feeling, guess I'd have to explain how wolf shifters mind links and mating bonds work… 'I ought to send her home for endangering us… but Rose is right, she's my sister, I could never hurt her.' I heard him think. He shifted and turned back to his human form, I walked up to him and pulled him back toward the pack when I glanced back at Kai and Belli. She was hugging Kai's wolf form that was whining softly rubbing his head against her stomach, I glance at Kari whose head was hung in shame for even thinking of hurting his little sister. As we walked back we didn’t speak for a while, he was too consumed in his thoughts to speak to me outside of his thoughts saying over and over again ‘I’m sorry Rose and Belli…’ finally I turned to face him and poke his chest gently, he looked up at me after a few seconds and his face gave off a blank expression, “R-Rose I wanna say I-” I cut him off “I’m sorry to you and Belli, yes I know I’ve been hearing you think it for as long as we’ve been walking back to the pack just a constant I’m sorry over and over again. I need to build up a wall to keep your thoughts out, or else they’ll drive me mad.” I said slightly annoyed but shook it off, I look at a silent Kari only to see his shocked expression as he watched me, “wait you can hear my thoughts? How the hell? Do you have powers, or are part witch?” I find amusement from his questions as I hear his thoughts running a mile a minute, ‘you can hear this can’t you? How do you do it?’ I look at him then pull him in for a kiss, kissing him deeply and passionately. ‘Believe it or not Kari you can hear my thoughts and feel what I'm feeling. It’s the mate’s bond with shifters, especially wolf shifters… since we are fully mated now you can hear and feel what’s going on with me. Vampires are a little different maybe, but us wolves can put up mental walls between those we are mated to so they can’t hear what we’re thinking. With practice you could do it too, but we must practice… but all I want to do now is eat and spend all night with you. Are you okay with that?’ I asked him, through the mind link between us, he pulled out of the kiss with a huge grin on his face. “Hell yes, let’s get food in you so we can spend the night together. What do you want to eat?" As we get closer to my house, he puts his shirt on me until we get inside to get some clothes on, as we strode in my mother rushed over to me checking for scratches or bites. "Rose! We were so worried about you and Kai, you're not hurt are you? What happened out there?" She asked me seemingly upset then her eyes landed on Kari, her mood instantly shifted from upset to pissed off at him, then she slapped him across the face. 

Kari's p.o.v

Rose's mom slapped me and all I could do was take it, I could sense the rage coming off her without having to be this close, she reared back and slapped me again in the same spot. "You! You vampire bastard could have killed one of my kids!" As she drew back to slap me a third time I caught her hand, she gasped and tried to pull away but I held her hand tightly. "I'd never hurt my mate or her brother, any kind of pain to my mate would be the death of me. I don't want to cause her pain, I wouldn't allow any harm to come to her even if it's the last thing I do in my life-" Before he could finish what he was saying his phone rang loudly in his pocket, he pulled it out of his pocket and answered the call. "Yes Astrid? Okay… … … so no one thought to, oh I don't know… NOTIFY ME THAT SHE LEFT HOURS AGO?!? SHE COULD ARRIVE ANY MINUTE NOW!" 

Rose's p.o.v

As Kari screams into his phone I get a mind link from my brother Kai sounding really defensive, 'sis can you bring some clothes here? And bring Kari, there's a strange vampire female talking to Belli trying to defend her from me.' As I hear this I run upstairs grabbing clothes for me and Kai my mind races with if it's Kari's ex Karissa and if it was what would I do. I ran back down stairs hearing Kari still screaming on his phone, I walk over to him and grab his phone from him. "Hi, I don't know who you are but Kari needs to go now. A strange vampire is trying to hurt my brother, thanks and bye." I hung up, tossed Kari mine and Kai's clothes as I shifted 'follow me Kari, we need to get to my brother and Belli quick!' I said in our mind link as I run from where we came. 

Belli's p.o.v

When Kari and Rose left, Kai rubbed his head against my stomach whining softly 'he didn't hurt you did he?' Kai mind linked me, and I shook my head smiling softly. "No, he only shifted and got really mad… I'm glad he couldn't hurt me or else you could've gotten hurt or killed my brother." As he pulled away I heard a branch snap close by, I stood up alert of my surroundings and I notice Kai is also looking around on guard with the noise. Then a deer walked by us sniffing at the ground, we both relaxed watching the deer walk past us, then from behind us Kai was thrown a good distance away. I turn around staring at the person who threw my mate and I paled seeing her after 3 years when she left before I had, "K-Karissa? What are you doing here? Why did you throw Kai?" She just stared at me like I'd grown two heads, then she walked over to me and put her hands on my shoulders. "I'm here for Kari, then as I walk through the forest I saw a wolf close to you, you do know that they're dangerous to our kind right?" I paused for a second and sighed, "Karissa, I don't know how to tell you this but…. The wolf is my… my mate, so please apologize to him for being rude and throwing him." Karissa turned to Kai, staring at him she turned towards a tree then punched it. "I… I'm sorry wolf, but Kari is here and I need you to tell me if he's a mated man now… And if he is who's the female so I can kill her?" I froze hearing her say that, Kai presses against me and mind link me 'Belli my sister is in danger, we can't tell her my sisters name or else… she might be injured by this crazy vampire.' I agree with him so I form a plan with Kai as she paced along the trees and back, I approach her slowly while she stops and looks at me. "Karissa go home, he's mated and she is a lot stronger than you. You won't be able to put a scratch on her, she could almost kill me with only a slight effort and we both know I'm a lot stronger than you. Besides Kari is pissed your here, he will kill you if his mate doesn't get to you first. Leave now! Or it's your deathbed your staring in the face." She took a few steps back shaking her head not believing me, then Kai whines gently letting me know he's in position and I nod only looking at her. "N-no he's not mated… He'd never kill me… And she's not that powerful, y-you're lying to me!!" She screamed at me but stayed put, "why would I lie to you? Have I ever lied to you before? No. Now leave before you get murdered. Or else I'll have no choice but to drag you to Kari and his queen." She just stared at me and fell to her knees, "please… tell me it's a lie, I can't lose my love to someone else… please…" Then Kai launched his attack. 

Kai's p.o.v

'Here's my plan, I distract her by telling her about your sister without mentioning who she is while you get into position behind her waiting for her to fall to her knees and her guard faults. When it does go for her head and bite down as hard as possible. Okay Kai?' I look at my brave mate then nod, and back away as she walks towards Karissa. I get into position slowly hoping the girl didn't notice me moving behind her, once in place I whine softly letting her know i'm ready to attack. I don't listen to the vampire, I only watch Belli and wait for her to signal me to attack, once she falls on her knees and is screaming I get a mind link from Belli 'NOW!' She screams to me while keeping a calm face. I waste no time and attack, I get her head in my mouth and I bite down quickly and hard but feel her squirming and hitting me. I'm not biting hard enough, I bite down as hard as possible then she stills after another minute of struggling, I drop her but don't realize Belli was screaming not to let go yet until I feel a hard kick in my ribs. I fall down and cry out feeling a few of my ribs shattering, I see the vampire stand over me as I shift back to my human form laying painfully on the forest floor unable to move, she stares at me with an unreadable expression. "I order you to step away from my mate, right now. Be lucky I don't execute you right now for hurting him." She says, her eyes flashing between red and purple. I see her walk away from me and toward Belli, I try to move but feel worse pain and curse silently as my vision gets blurry and I mind link Belli before I pass out 'I'm sorry my love. Rose is on her way.' Then I passed out from the pain.
