Chapter One: Shattered Dreams
What !!!!!! Where !!!!! How !!!!!!!!
Yes, these were the words that could come out of my mouth the day I got the news of my parents accident.
"Oh no !!!!" Father wake up please, I can't do life without you" I lied down with him by the road where the accident took his life instantly but watching my mother still struggling to get up after a broken leg.
Two years, seven months and five days later, just like yesterday I have no father again, and I'm left to cater for my mother whom the accident left crippled.
As I sit here, surrounded by the memories of our little family, I'm reminded of the harsh reality. Life is unpredictable, and sometimes, it's cruel. But I refuse to let it break me.
"Arya what have you been doing"My mom said , bringing me back to reality.
"Mum, how are you feeling today?" I ask, trying to sound cheerful.
My mother smiles weakly at me. "I'm okay, Arya. Just a little tired."
"Do you need anything? Water, maybe, or some painkillers?"I asked.
My mother shakes her head. "No, dear. I'm fine. Just sit with me for a bit."
I nod and sit down beside her, taking her hand in mine. We sit there in silence for a while, watching the sun set through the window and later on we ate and go to bad and this as being our daily routine.
One day, as I'm helping my mother with her physical therapy, she turns to me with a serious expression.
"Arya, I need to talk to you about something," she says.
"What is it, Mum?" I ask, feeling curious.
"I know things have been tough lately, but I want you to promise me something," she says.
"Anything, Mum," I reply.
"I want you to promise me that you'll take care of yourself and won't give up your dreams for me. You're all I have left, and I don't want anything to happen to you."
I nodded "I promise, Mum. I'll take care of myself."
As I look at my mother, I realize that I need to do something to help our situation. I need to find a way to make some money, to support my mother and myself.
But what can I do? I don't have any skills, and I don't have any experience. I'm just a 26-year-old woman with a broken heart, choked with a lot of responsibility and a determination to survive.
As I sit there, feeling hopeless, my mother's words echo in my mind. "Take care of yourself, Arya."
I take a deep breath and make a decision. I'll do whatever it takes to take care of myself and my mother. I'll find a way to make a better life for us, no matter what it takes.
But little do I know, the road ahead of me will not be without challenges and obstacles. It'll be a journey of self-discovery, of love and heartbreak, of trials and tribulations.
And it'll all start with a simple decision, a decision that will change my life forever.
******
I woke up with a feeling to do something new. I was going to make a better life for my mom and me.
I started by updating my resume and searching for jobs online. But it wasn't easy. I didn't have any special skills or qualifications.
"Mom, I'm trying to find a job," I said, feeling frustrated. "But it's hard. I don't know what to do."
My mom looked at me with concern. "Arya, you'll find something. Just be patient."
I nodded, but I couldn't shake off the feeling of worry. I decided to take a break and clear my head. I went for a walk around the block.
As I walked, I saw a small café. I went inside and ordered a cup of coffee. While I was waiting, I noticed a help-wanted sign on the bulletin board.
"Waitress wanted," it said.
I felt hopeful again. Maybe this was the opportunity I was waiting for.
I approached the counter and asked the barista, "Excuse me, I'm interested in applying for the waitress job."
The barista smiled and handed me an application. "Great, we're always looking for friendly and hardworking people."
I filled out the application and handed it back to the barista. "Thanks, I look forward to hearing from you."
As I left the café, I felt a sense of hope. Maybe this was the start of something new and better.
I got back home feeling happier than I left, even though I have not been called or accepted but at least they asked for my number.
"Mom, i applied for the post of a waiter"I said in excitement upon getting into the house.
"Wow !!!! don't worry things will fall in place for you"My mom said.
"Thank you Mommy," I said.
My mom smiled and patted my hand. "I'm proud of you, Arya. You're taking steps to make a better life for us."
I smiled back at her, "I won't give up, Mom. I'll keep trying until we're okay again."
My mom nodded, her eyes shining with tears hiding in it. "I know you will, Arya. You're strong, just like your father."
I felt sad at the mention of my father, but I pushed it aside. I had to stay focused on the present and the future.
The next few days passed slowly, with no word from the café. I tried not to get my hopes up, but it was hard not to think about the possibility of getting the job.
One day, as I was helping my mom with her physical therapy, the phone rang. I answered it, hoping it might be the café.
"Arya, this is Sarah from the café," the voice on the other end said. "We'd like to invite you for an interview."
My heart skipped a beat trying to maintain my excitement. "Really? That's great! When is the interview?"
"How about tomorrow at 2 pm?" Sarah asked.
I nodded, even though she couldn't see me. "That sounds perfect. I'll be there."
As I hung up the phone, I felt extremely glad. Maybe this was the start of something new and better. Maybe this was the chance I had been waiting for.
