I followed Mercy out of the room and down a long hallway. We walked past many doors and finally stopped at one. Mercy opened the door and said, "This is your room, Arya."
I walked inside and looked around. The room was big and beautiful, with a comfortable bed and a nice desk. There was also a big window with a great view of Lake Geneva.
Mercy smiled and said, "I'm glad you like it. You can rest now and unpack your bags. Dinner will be at 7pm."
I nodded and thanked her. As soon as she left, I sat down on the bed and took a deep breath. I was really here in Switzerland, starting my new life.
I spent the rest of the day unpacking and resting. At 7pm, I went downstairs to the dining room. Fred was already there, and he smiled at me.
"Welcome, Arya," he said. "I'm glad you're feeling relieved and refreshed ."
I smiled back and sat down. Mercy came in with a big tray of food, and we started eating.
The food was delicious, and we talked about many things. Fred told me about his business and his family. I told him about my life and my family also.
As we finished dinner, Fred smiled at me and said, "I'm glad we had a chance to talk, Arya. I think you'll be very happy here."
I smiled back and thanked him. As I went back to my room, I felt happy and excited. I knew I had made the right decision in coming to Switzerland.
The next day, Mercy showed me around the house and introduced me to the other staff members. There was a cook named Maria, a driver named Green, and a gardener named John. It's interesting how I got to know another John but it is most interesting that I'm the overall maid, that means I can give them orders. That was what Mr Fred told me.
Everyone was very friendly, and I felt welcome. Mercy showed me the schedule for the day and explained my duties.
I was responsible for cleaning the house, doing laundry, and helping with meals at my conviniences. I was also responsible for taking care of Fred's personal needs.
As I started my work, I felt happy and content. I knew I had a lot to learn, but I was willing to work hard and do my best.
The days went by quickly, and I settled into my new routine. I worked during the day and rested at night. I also had time to explore the city and learn about Swiss culture.
One day, Mr Fred asked me to go with him to a business meeting. I was happy to go and learn more about his business.
As we drove to the meeting, He told me about his company and his plans for the future. I listened carefully and asked questions.
At the meeting, I met many important people and learned a lot about business. I was proud to be working for Fred personally, I'll be opened to a lot of opportunities.
As we drove back home, Fred smiled at me and said, "You did a great job today, Arya. I'm very proud of you."
I smiled back and thanked him.
The days turned into weeks, and the weeks turned into months. I settled into my new life in Switzerland and felt happy and at home.
I worked hard and did my best, and Fred was very pleased with me. I also made many new friends and learned a lot about Swiss culture.
One day, Fred also asked me to go with him to a party. I was happy to go and meet new people.
At the party, I met many important people and had a great time. I danced and laughed, and Fred was very proud of me.
As we drove back home, Fred smiled at me and said, "You're natural and free spirited, Arya. I'm very proud of you."
I smiled back and thanked him. I felt happy and content, knowing that I was doing a good job and making a difference.
As the months went by, I became more and more comfortable in my new role. I learned the ins and outs of the house and became familiar with Fred's schedule and preferences.
Fred and I kept going for one occasion or the other, well I had been learning a lot and I was really happy I had given this opportunity a chance.
Fred turned to me one day when coming back from one of our trips and said, "Arya, I'm very pleased with your work. You're not only a great housekeeper, but you're also a valuable assistant."
I smiled, feeling proud of myself. "Thank you, Mr. Fred. I'm happy to be of service."
Fred smiled back and said, "Please, call me Fred. We're not just employer and employee, we're also friends."
I felt homely with his words. I knew that I had found a true friend and mentor in Fred, well I wouldn't know if it would be more than that but for now, the relationship is a pure one.
As we returned to Geneva, I felt grateful for the opportunity to work for Fred and to learn from him. I knew that I still had much to learn, but I was excited for the journey ahead.
And so, my life in Switzerland continued. I worked hard, learned new things, and enjoyed the beauty of the country. I was living my dream, and I was grateful for every moment.
“Mr Fred seems to be a really nice person”I said to mercy at home.
“Yes, he is really a nice person, he treats us all very well and he is such a gentle soul” Mercy said.
“It's just that, Mr fred sometimes has a lot of things in mind but rather keep it to himself “she added.
“What did you mean?” I asked in curiousity.
“Don't worry dear, you will find out soon enough”She said.
