The Wormhole

Chapter One Background Tuesday, 3/14/2462@1530 My name is Adam Pagan. I am a junior officer aboard the space transportation system USS Triangulum I. We are presently 61 million miles from Earth and just beyond the Asteroid Belt of our solar system. At this point, we are just drifting. According to our calculations, the Einstein/Rosen Bridge (a Wormhole) is scheduled to be opening tomorrow. That’s our immediate destination. I have been tasked by Supreme Command to write a history that has led 5 million citizens in the United States to relocate in the Triangulum Galaxy. The USS Triangulum I has a population of 7026 men and women aboard with a wide variety of disciplines. Our mission is to establish a colony on planet M-23. The planet was designated habitable by our previous probes. Keeping with my mandate and beginning with this entry, I intend to begin a chronological order outlining what necessitated many of our United States citizens to evacuate their homeland and seek a new home in a distant galaxy. I will continue to make entries into this diary for as long as the Supreme Command wishes me. Early in the 21st century, the United States was under the threat from ISIS Jihadists terrorists from every other country in the world. ISIS had gained momentum with their movement to establish a ‘Muslim’ planet. They had created a caliphate in Syria and millions of young Muslims from all over the world including those from the United States rushed to join the jihad. In the past hundred years, Asia, including China, Japan and the greater part of what was once the Soviet Union put up a bloody struggle, but in vain. All those territories were eventually conquered. In most of these geographies, the populations were completely exterminated in the name of Allah after being tried under ‘Sharia Law.’ The United States was the only county that was still free from this Muslim threat. The southern borders of the United States were porous and individuals from several terrorist groups came through with one purpose, they wanted to destroy our citizens, our religions and our cities. Unfortunately, for the better part of that century, they were allowed to go unchecked. In many situations, they carried out their terrorism with only a few repercussions. Unfortunately, the liberal leaders that ruled our government at that time believed that the United States should turn its other cheek. These officials refused to recognize the obvious danger and blamed this ‘Islamic Terrorism’ on everything other thing than what it was: ‘Jihad’ as outlined in the Quran. These liberals, year after year, made excuses for these murderers. Then in the middle of the 22nd century, the United States population voted for an administration that finally took action and sealed all of its borders. A lethal electric fence and land mines were installed along the northern and southern borders. Missile batteries were at the ready to neutralize any aircraft attempting to enter the country. Minefields were established along the east and west coasts. Our citizens were not allowed to leave the United States nor were anyone allowed in for any reason, whatsoever. The United States didn’t import or export anything and became a closed-door nation. This drastic action, however, did not completely address the terror problem. Many of the Muslims that were living in the United States at that time belonged to a group called Hizb ut-Tahrir or Party of Liberation. The Hizb had been around for over a hundred years and had always been careful, except on a few occasions, to refrain from advocating violence. However, after the United States closed its borders to the world, the Muslims living in the United States took up allegiance with ISIS sympathizers abroad and began to terrorize the secular population through suicide bombings and roadside IUD’s. They met and plotted terrorism in their Mosques. This amounted to thousands of individuals planning and implementing internal destruction as well as plotting to take control of the government. It was calculated that the Muslim population was and would continue to double every 40 years. Arrests were made on a daily basis, but the ISIS terrorism continued. The Muslims living in the United States advocated the following: A Muslim has no country except that part of the Earth where the Sharia of Allah is established; a Muslim has no nationality except his belief; a Muslim has no relatives except those who share the belief in Allah. Periodically there were bombs placed in public places, attacks on congregations in Christian Churches and Jewish Temples. Big cities, sport stadiums, and shopping malls were other targets for their destructive plots. The majority of these aggressions were planned in the Mosques by the radical Muslims. The Mosque during the Prophet Muhammad’s time was not just a place to worship. It was also a place to store weapons and make military plans. When Muhammad was in Medina, he used the Mosque as headquarters for all his wars. Even after his death, his successors used the Mosques for the same purpose. According to Muslims, Islam is both a religion and government. Islam is a pen and a sword. Time and time again, the United States Muslims were planning war on their country in their Mosques and brought these plans of war to fruition. Eventually, the United States secular public had had enough. They demanded the government to pass laws and arrest everyone who identified themselves as Muslim and who were not United States citizens since it was believed that ISIS had become embedded in that religion. It was no secret to the United States public that the world’s ISIS Jihadists population was intent on taking over the entire planet. They were forcing everyone to adopt their religious persuasion or die and at the same time, they intended to impose ‘Sharia Law’ on the living. This Law derives from the Quran and the Sunna holy books. In 2239, legislation was introduced in Congress to arrest anyone who had ever practiced the Islamic faith, regardless of whether or not they were citizens of the United States. The President signed a deportation bill into law. Once all of the Muslins were incarcerated, they were deported to a Mid-Eastern country of their choice. The United States became a secular society. This deportation bill further encouraged the Muslims worldwide to declare war with the determination to invade the United States and kill all the non-believers. By the end of the 22nd century, all the natural resources in the United States were nearly exhausted. The United States began to use its sophisticated space program to explore mining the asteroids in the outer solar system. The first asteroid mined was called ‘Nereus 4660.’ It managed to produce large quantities of antimony, zinc, tin, and silver. Indium, gold, copper, and lead was mined as well. Five years ago, all of the resources from that asteroid were finally exhausted. Many of the citizens wanted to move further out into the Asteroid Belt and mine the larger asteroids such as Ceres, Pollas, Vista, and Hygiea. The government agreed to fund this exploration and mining for a hundred years. It was during the mining of the four major asteroids, a Wormhole had been discovered. At that time, it was impossible to enter it, but Scientists went to work on perfecting ‘‘Exotic Matter’’ with negative energy density to stabilize it. This procedure was named after the old theory ‘The Lorentzian Traversable.’ This also would allow for two way travel to wherever the Wormhole led. The ‘‘Exotic Matter’’ would be introduced into the Wormhole by a spacecraft when it was in close proximity as it opened. Once the procedure of entering the Wormhole was perfected, teams of astronauts were sent into the Wormhole to determine the location of its exit. They discovered on the second expedition that it transported them to the outer reaches of the Triangulum Galaxy. The third expedition discovered the planet M-23 in the circumstellar habitable zone (chz) around its star. It was about that time when other options were being discussed. These options included passing several laws that would reduce the size of the population. Women in the United States were not allowed to have a child unless it was previously approved by the government. The children that were allowed to be born were carefully designed. That is to say, the gene pool of every human seed and sperm was examined for the purpose of producing an individual who would benefit the government. Engineers, Doctors, and Scientists of all disciplines were going to be needed to explore the Universe and locate another suitable home for the United States. That law went into effect more than 100 years ago. The population of the United States shrunk from 375 million at the end of the 23rd century to its current 50 million. Eventually, this law eventually met with resistance, so the government gave its citizens a choice. If those citizens who wished to procreate without government approval were told to move west of the Mississippi River and establish their own government. Over a period of several years, 45 million citizens of the United States accepted the move order and these citizens would not be considered for relocation to the Triangulum Galaxy. I should point out here; I was one of the governments ‘Designed Humans’ that was made especially for the purpose of possessing the scientific talents that were essential for relocation. It was a universal belief among the 5 million citizens living east of the Mississippi River that they would eventually be invaded by the Muslims, and it was further believed by the government of those citizens; if they didn’t take action to eventually evacuate the planet, they would succumb and be conquered. Our Supreme Command at the time were convinced that once the Muslims defeated the 5 million inhabitants east of the Mississippi River, it would only be a matter of time before the entire continent would fall to them. Unfortunately, those citizens living west of the Mississippi were living in denial and would not face the inevitable. Every citizen living in the east would have to determine, by the beginning of the 24th century, if he or she wished to leave or stay. Every one of the 5 million citizens surveyed agreed to relocate to M-23. Based on that census, Transporters were built. Due to the size of the Transporters, engineers decided to assemble the Transporters in space. Each Transporter could accommodate up to 8000 occupants and provide ample living space as well as supplies and sustenance for the long journey. Every crew member had a special skill that would be needed not only operate the vessel but to assist in establishing a colony once we arrived at planet M-23. Preliminary orbits by the probes around M-23 indicated that life forms existed on at least one the five continents located around the planet. The life forms were not identified, but it was believed that some of them were hominids in several stages of evolution. Based on preliminary information, it was determined that they were not an advanced civilization. Upon initial exploration from space, it wasn’t determined if any of the native life forms on M-23 were intelligent based on our understanding of intelligence. Although the continent that was the most appealing for us to colonize, life forms were discovered. It was decided, however, that the initial expedition would not land or colonize in any areas populated by the indigenous creatures. Several sites were selected to establish our first colony and this would also be done before attempting to make contact with any of the exiting life forms. After our colony on the planet was well established, it was our intention to send out reconnaissance teams to make contact and/or observe depending on the stage of their evolution and the size of their population. Wednesday, 3/15/2462@0930 Yesterday at 2100, Angela came to my quarters. She is one of the enlisted sterile women that the Command provides to the duty officers for s****l relief. It is a capital offense to have s*x with a fertile woman. They are being reserved to populate our new home. I am entitled to s****l relief every ten days. Angela was very accommodating and I believe she enjoyed the experience satisfying my s****l needs. She was very experienced in giving and receiving s****l pleasure and in addition to all of that she is very beautiful. I would like to have a s****l experience with her in the future, but that is a slim possibility. I will receive another young woman from the rotation nine days from today. However, I can’t imagine that my chemistry with the new woman will be as dynamic as it was with Angela last night. I should be satisfied with the present situation and not complain.
