Chapter 11

"I... am sorry for being so selfish!" The soldier apologizes after realizing how selfish he has been. Kath shook her head slowly and smiled gently at him, "No, it is fine, I have no grudge against you, I was only trying…" "Princess! Princess!" Two loud voices called from behind cutting Kath mid sentenced. A few meters away from them, they could hear running feet of people in their direction. When Kath spotted a figure, she raised her hand, "Over here!" She said waving her hands trying to get their attention. The two men breath out a sigh of relief on catching sight of them and walked almost drained out of their direction. "Geez! We've... been searching all over for you." One of the men said; he hesitated for a while to catch his breath and continued, "great news! We've found the king. No, we didn't find him, he has been at the palace all alon…" "Hold on, what king are you talking about?" One of the soldiers who has accompanied Kath asked in skepticism. The same question Kath has been wanting to ask. "Our king of course. We still don't understand how it happened but, the king has been in there all along. He has ordered for us to bring you back to the palace." The second man replied. "So, this has been a setup all along," Kath said thoughtfully. "Yes! It was all a setup and a waste of time. I am sure those wolves were sent by Ravana to harm us. Ravana set a trap for us, which we fell into, but thankfully, we survived it." Another soldier said. After a moment of silence, Kath finally spoke up. "You know what? We will think about all this later. We should all head back to the palace." ******** "Dad?!" Kath called on seeing her dad standing outside of the palace. Obviously, has been waiting for their arrival. Her dad turned to look at him with a soft smile on his face as he beckoned on her to come over for a hug. Kath felt like she haven't seen her dad for years and wanted to run into his arms but, on second thought, this was the same thing that happened with Stephen and his mom. She isn't hundred percent sure yet, so she can't just run into his arms; that might be extremely dangerous. "Hey! How sure are you that, he is our king?" One of the soldiers who accompanied Kath inquired from those men. "We haven't confirmed it yet. We are still... examining. Well, I think this is more like our king. The same way you are hesitating, that was the same way we hesitated, until he asked about the princess and we told him you all had gone to search for him in a jungle. You need to see the king's facial expression back then. He was so scared and immediately gave us an order to make sure that you all come back alive." The messenger explained. Notwithstanding, was that enough reason to believe that this is still their king? "I know what you are thinking. I understand; everything that happened is still a mystery to not only you but also me. But, I assure you, I won't hurt or harm any of you, cause this time, I know what I am doing." The king pointed out but, they still didn't move an inch. The King ran his hands through his head and exclaimed, "Kath, are you also scared of me, for God's sake, I am me this time! Rava..." "I believe you dad! I was only making sure." Kath turned to the soldiers behind her and said, "trust me, this is your king and my dad. I know my dad, this is exactly how he behaves. Has it been Ravana had turned him into someone else, then we would notice the change in his character? But this time, there is known, so trust me." The soldiers nodded their heads. Well, she does have a point though. Even if there is a possibility that Ravana has turned him into something else, then, they would be a change in his character. Either the way he speaks or the way he acts. And, just like that messenger had said, this is more like their king. They only needed a little prove to be sure. Kath turned to her dad and ran to give him a heartwarming hug which her dad welcomed her in. If there was one thing Kath is most grateful for, was for the fact that, despite everything that happened, she and her dad made it out, alive! ***** "I was so shocked when I heard one of the guards saying to me that, Ravana told you that I was at the top mountain in that dangerous jungle." The king began, sitting on his throne, while some of his people sat down on the long wooden armless chair on the left and right-hand side of the king; he continued, "it is an arranged plan by Ravana to get you into danger." He concluded. "I agree on that: the king. While we were walking back to the palace, would you believe that those werewolf we killed, suddenly vanished? Like, we rechecked to be sure but we couldn't find any of the dead wolves. Generally, this implies that those wolves were sent by Ravana to take our lives in the jungle. He did all this to lure us into the jungle so, those wolves could end our lives. I wouldn't be wrong if I say, those wolves are a member of the descendants of the black moon." One of the soldiers said with all confidence. Kath could recall the event. They were walking back to the palace when they got to exactly that same spot where those wolfs had attacked them. Surprisingly, they couldn't find the wolves. It was as if, someone took them away or they suddenly disappeared. Fortunately, they didn't have any form of attack from wild animals while returning to the Palace. The soldier does have a point, this was all a setup from Ravana; he intended to lure them to the jungle and then he send those wolves to attack them; which he successfully did! He had everything plotted out! "What?! Some werewolves attacked you guys?" The King exclaimed with wide-opened eyes. And instead of replying, Kath decided to change the topic, cause she knew her dad will worry about them. They are here for something else and not to discuss some past incident. "But Dad, how did you end up in the palace? I thought you were there with us?" The King stared at her with a raised brow cause he knew she was trying to ignore his questions. Nevertheless, he responded. "I also can't tell. It's still a mystery to me. The last thing I remembered when I woke up and found myself in the palace was Ravana saying to me that, I must work and act under his control; that's It. That's all I could remember." The king explained. "Let's leave that aside. Ravana assured us that he would be descending again in Nazirites. I think while he is gone, we should make better plans and preparations for his second return. Like, he has defeated and has killed so many of us, and I just realized the exact reason he was defeating us so effortlessly," Kath hesitated for a while and before she could continue, the king completed, "it is because he possesses supernatural powers and we don't!" Kath nodded her head in agreement. "Not only does he possess supernatural powers; his physical strengths are outstanding! He has both supernatural and bodily capabilities, but, I think that he defeated us more because of his supernatural powers, which I don't think anything can be done about it." Someone's voice could be heard amid the people of Nazirites. The King didn't bother looking up as he bowed his head deep down in thoughts. The King knew whoever said that was completely right! Nothing can be done about it. Ravana possesses supernatural powers while they don't. They obviously can't compete with Ravana's super... "King! Our King!" Someone ran into the palace breathlessly, almost tripping on his feet. He staggered towards the king and made a slight bow before saying, "the king, you won't believe what just happened. We were outside checking up on the soldiers that got assaulted by Ravana; of course, some of them were conscious and some unconscious. The ones which have been confirmed dead by us; right in front of eyes, they suddenly… disappeared!" The soldier said in one breath. After he was done with his speech, he placed his hands on his chest trying to catch his breath. The King sat upright and bat his lashes in astonishment. He asked, not believing his ears; "You mean, the dead bodies of the soldiers suddenly disappeared right in front of you all?" Instantly, the messenger replied with, "Yes!" The King turned to look at the people of Nazirites, who had, of course, a shocked expression on their faces, slowly, he diverted his gaze to his daughter: Kath. She shook her head and said gently, "It this implies that," she paused staring at her dad to see if he would understand the message she was trying to pass on to him. The King shook his head disappointedly and finished off, "Ravana has taken their bodies away to use them against us!"
