Chapter 23

1152 Words
Well, to the king, he knew that this was just the beginning of their torments and this torment wouldn't end anytime. Soon! To think that this werewolf standing right in front of him was once their soldier, was disheartening. The ropes of the net were moving around his neck, and with each move he made, it tightened even more around his neck. Sometimes he wonders if Ravana was making them feel the pain without taking their lives. Not that he was hoping to be dead but, with this rope firmly wrapped around his neck, he ought to be lying down lifeless on the floor by now. The wolf stared deep down into the king's eyes. Aside from choking him with the ropes of the net, he hadn't done anything else to the king. But, there is still a question that has been running through the king's mind, but he hasn't gotten an answer to it: did Ravana transform into a wolf, or is this wolf just one of Ravana's monsters? The wolf turned his back on the king to face the people of the Nazirites. The murmuring amid them ceased and everywhere in the hall became so calm and silent. Even the birds outside of the king's palace couldn't dare to make any chirping sounds at the moment. From all their imaginations, never have they thought of a wolf in the palace. Specifically: a black and scary-looking wolf at that. Aside from the wolf's fierce looks and his gaze at them, his silence was even scarier to them. He took a step forward and stopped, once he had gotten right in front of the people of Nazirites. They could feel it: they could feel the tension in the air which had, however, made it very difficult for them to swallow. The wolf howled and in the blink of an eye, one soldier was down already with his left eye out. A while ago, the wolf unexpectedly jumped on him and took out his left eye with his claw. Afterward, he made a very long scratch on his face down to his neck with his claws. Once the wolf landed back on the floor, the soldier fell trembling in pain. Unbelievably, the wolf uses his mouth to pick up the soldier's b****y looking eye on the floor; right in front of everyone, did he chew on it. They could hear the loud crunching sounds of the soldier's eyes in the wolf's and they almost poked at the sight. Thick blood rolled down the wolf's mouth to his chin. They could see it. After he had finished chewing on the soldier's eye, he unbelievably gulped it down. That was so… disgusting and truly not a sight to behold. The wolf further proceeded to take out the right eye of the almost dead soldier. Immediately he took out his right eye, It wasn't quite long, the little life left in the soldier drained out and that's it, he died. The same thing he did with the left eye, same thing he did with the right eye. After he had finished eating the soldier's eyes, he turned to the King and began taking some steps towards him. With every step the wolf took, the king could feel his legs and his hands shaking, not only because the wolf was walking towards him, but also because he was still in shock as to what just happened a while ago. It is no longer the wolf that everyone knows about. This is obviously a monster. Not only did he take the soldier's eyes out, but he also chews on it and then gulped it down with a look of satisfaction on his face. And now, the wolf is walking in his direction, to probably take out his eyes too. Not to forget the fact that he was still in a situation where he was finding it difficult and struggling to breathe. The ropes were still wrapped around his neck. He can't breathe and can't swallow, nor is he dead yet. Isn't that... unbelievable? The wolf settled right in front of the king, for a hundred times, staring fiercely at him. "So, what comes next? Take my eyes off?" The king thought. But, on second thought, what the wolf did to the soldier: was he trying to pass on a message to him? Is he trying to show him what he will do to him at any moment from now? What exactly… The King was still thinking when an aggressive howl pulled him out from his thoughts. The wolf attempted to jump on him but then, something kicked him away as he hit his back on the brick wall of the palace. When the king turned to see what had saved him, he couldn't believe his eyes. "Kath?" He called in shock. His daughter Kath was standing right in front of him. His daughter is back on earth. He felt the urge to hug her but then, he was trapped in this so-called suffocating net. But how did she? Ravana told him that her life was in his hands, so did he give her a second chance to live? Or did he say that to deceive him just so, he would hand over the book to him? "Let me get you out of here," Kath said as she walked to her dad to get the ropes off him. Kath was so fully concentrated on getting the ropes off her dad and she didn't notice that the wolf had gotten up and was now walking towards her. "Kath, are... you... okay?" The king manages to say. He was even more concerned about his daughter's health than getting out of those ropes. She half smiled and nodded her head. From the corner of their eyes, the king caught a glimpse of the werewolf walking abruptly towards his daughter. He was now just a few meters away from Kath. Since Kath had her back facing the wolf, she didn't notice or see the wolf walking towards her. "Kath, watch out!" The king half yelled and before she could process what her dad was trying to say to her, the wolf launched at her back, using his claws to dig deep down into the back of her neck: very deep into her bare skin. She groaned in pain as she staggered about, sometimes slamming her back on the wall to get the wolf off her back, but still, the wolf didn't let her go. The more it stays on her back, the more he uses his claws to make either a long scratch on her back or dig his claws into her back. The weight of the werewolf on her back was already draining the strength in her. She had just woken up from her unconscious state a while ago, and she would never want to return to the state she was. Never!
