Chapter 24

1347 Words
She had just woken up from her unconscious state a while ago, and she would never want to return to the state she was. Never! So, she raised her hands towards her back and got hold of the wolf's head. With all her strength, she lifted his whole body with his head as she flung it hard on the floor. Without letting him stand at his feet, she ran to him and used her leg to kick him on his head, to her satisfaction. At this point, Kath was beginning to wonder if she was destined to fight with black and scary-looking wolves. Not quite long ago, she fought with a wolf and the first thing she fought with after waking up from her unconscious state was a wolf. She could feel hot blood running down her back. And at the same time, she could feel pain all over her body, but specifically, her back had this unbearable pain that was draining out the little strength in her. The wolf's claws were something else and were even sharper than the edge of a sword. Since the wolf hadn't gotten up yet, it was a perfect opportunity to get her dad out of the net. She was about to take a step forward when she felt a punch in her stomach. The punch came with a lot of force that sent her crashing on the wall; she fell face flat on the floor. At this point, Kath felt like her backbones had been broken into multiple tiny pieces, and she wondered if Ravana had the intention of breaking her backbones. A while ago, she became unconscious after being pushed by Ravana and she fell with her back crashing on the door. The force with which she hit the door behind was just so much that it wrecked the door. She was still in the process of recovering, and now, the wolf had almost pulled out her bare skin alongside a very long scratch on her back. She could not withstand the pain that standing on her feet seemed like a task she couldn't do but, she had to do it. Generally, the pain she felt was indescribable. The fabric she wore had been drenched with blood. But something is so not right. She was positive that the wolf didn't punch her in her stomach; something else did: something unseen and unknown. She was in this battle alone, with two things fighting her: something unseen and the one right in front of her. The only thing the people of the Nazirites could do was, 'watch.' most especially the king. The fact that his daughter was going through all this pain; so much pain and he couldn't do anything about it was annoying, frustrating, and at the time, painful. He could literally feel his heart bleeding. Again, this time, the wolf began walking up to Kath. He wasn't in a hast nor was he slow with his steps: he walked in satisfaction. Not only did he walk in satisfaction, his facial expression held satisfaction. Though he had this straight face, yet there was this hint of satisfaction in it. The wolf was almost getting close to Kath when she struggled to stand on her feet after much thought. Since she was the only one left to fight, she had to put up the responsibility of saving her dad and the people of Nazirites on her shoulders. "Princess, come over and have my sword." One of the soldiers voiced out, pointing his finger to the sword which was stuck in his clothes. At least, since he couldn't move, he had to assist the princess in whatever way he could. There is something they just can't seem to understand and, at the same time, they can't stop thinking about: how can the princess walk freely? They were all trapped with the king not excluded. How did she manage to walk freely without being trapped by Ravana? It was as if the wolf understood, or maybe he did understand what the soldier said to Kath as he instantly launched at her. On the other hand, Kath was too quick to dodge and the wolf hit his body on the brick wall. He growled angrily and instantly stood on his feet as if he felt no pain. Kath seized this opportunity to run over to the soldier. She was just a few meters away from him when she felt something; the last step she would take to get to him felt like something was going to hold her leg to the ground. Even though she couldn't process what just happened, she instantly took a step backward, wondering intensely about what the hell just happened a while ago. Again, she makes another attempt to get the sword but, the same thing happens. The step she took; even though her leg hadn't fully settled on the ground, something was forcefully pulling her legs down. She took a step backward with her gaze fixed on the floor. She thought: "is there some kind of force underneath the ground?" "Princess, are you okay?" The soldier asked after seeing the look of contemplation on Kath's face and the way she took a step forward, after which, she took a step backward. "When I attempted to get close to you, something was going to stick my legs to the floor," Kath stated with her gaze still fixed on the floor. Again, she made another attempt yet again; but this time, something weird happened. Immediately her legs felt the floor, it was as if the ground melted and she was about to sink into the ground. Even the people of Nazirites felt it. Immediately she took a step forward, around them felt like it melted and they knew they would have fallen on the floor if their feet weren't stuck to the floor. "I think there is a force around us. Whoever gets close to us, there is a greater possibility that he gets trapped with us." "Princess, no matter what, do not come close to us, please do not else, else, we will all fall into the ground. Since you are the last person left in Nazirites that hasn't been stuck to the ground yet, Ravana is waiting for you to come close to us and we will all fall in unison into the ground. So, no matter what, for our safety, do not come to us." Another soldier who had a clearer idea of the whole situation said. Kath bats her lashes in astonishment as she raises her head to look at the soldier. Truly, what he said does make sense. She was the last person left to be stuck to the ground. So, once she successfully falls into Ravana's trap, he will surely take them all away. "s**t!" Kath cussed when she realized that she had a wolf to fight with. Why has he been quiet the whole time though? When Kath turned to look at the wolf, he was just a few inches away from her: a few, or precisely, one inch away from her. She got startled and almost took a step backward when she realized she shouldn't do that as it was a big risk to both her and the people of Nazirites. "Princess, here you go!" The soldier said and threw the sword to Kath without her awareness, but unfortunately, the werewolf got hold of it with his teeth. The wolf started taking some steps backward until he had gotten to the king. He turned around to face the king and the unexpected happened. Right in front of everybody, the wolf transforms back to the soldier with the sword firmly held in his hand. Kath couldn't believe her eyes. And aside from that, the wolf was just one inch away from her; that was surely a golden opportunity to either attack her or push her in, so she could get stuck with the people of Nazirites. And, why in heaven's name did he suddenly stop attacking her, and then, he went to her dad?
