Chapter 25

And, why in heaven's name did he suddenly stop attacking her, and then, he went to her dad? With that aside, was Ravana truly waiting for her to get close to the people before he could take them all away? Everything that has happened made her think of the dream she had about a hand trying to drag her underneath the ground. Is there a possibility that an invisible hand was pulling their legs to the ground? Furthermore, why is Ravana patiently waiting for her to get close to the people before he takes them all away when he can forcefully drag her by the leg and pull her underneath the ground, no matter where she stands. Not that she wanted this but she couldn't just help thinking about it, knowing fully well that Ravana was capable of doing such to her. Back to the present: the wolf, which has now transformed back into the soldier, was still standing right in front of her dad with no reaction from him. Since he had his back on Kath, she couldn't figure out his facial expression and, at the same time, she couldn't tell what his intentions held. But then, why did he choose to transform when he was very close to defeating her? He was literally just one inch away from her, which was the perfect opportunity to attack her. All this was making her think otherwise; the reaction she got from him was not what she had expected though. And about Ravana, though Ravana hasn't been seen or more like, they couldn't conclude if Ravana himself possessed the soldier or one of his monsters did; but one thing she knows for sure is that Ravana is certainly lurking around in the palace with his monsters. Though she has no proof yet, or maybe she did, because the punch she felt back then in her stomach was from something unseen, which means that Ravana is in the palace but he made himself invisible. The King, on the other hand, could literally feel the violent stare of the soldier on his bare skin. His gaze on him was so intense that all that the king could do was to divert his gaze to the sword which he was holding firmly in his hand. The king couldn't help but worry about his intentions and the main purpose of the sword he was holding firmly in his hands. "What... do you think?" The possessed soldier spoke up, giving a reply to the king's thought. The King raises his head to look at him as he bats his lashes in astonishment. Let's ignore the fact that he finally said a word, but how can he get into his head and read his thoughts? Is there a possibility that this could be Ravana? "Ravana?" The possessed soldier asked, sarcasm dripping from his voice. Afterward, he made a light chuckle, "if you must know, I am one of Ravana's monsters. And as for Ravana, he is busy preparing a place for you all in his domain. Actually..." The possessed soldier paused and took both hands behind his back as he started walking from one end to another. Thus, he continued, "I have read your thoughts and I decided to give answers to your curious questions. I know you are wondering why you are still alive till this minute despite the ropes that are tied to your neck and, at the same time, despite the fact that you can't breathe. The only reason is that Ravana hasn't given me the instruction to take your lives yet. I decided to let you know that, you made it up till now because, I made it that way, and not because you are strong enough to bear the pains. Take a close look at the ropes around your neck. They are already prepared to take your life, with just an instruction from Ravana, you will be gone!" He stopped walking and turned to look at the king, after which he swerve his gaze from the king to Kath, "Ravana needs one of you. At first, he wanted everyone to participate in the game but, just a few hours ago, he changed his mind and told me, you needed one of you." His words have left them totally flabbergasted as there stared at one another. Kath turned to look at her dad and he did the same. He needs them for what exactly? Rituals? Or... "Rituals? If he needs you for rituals he must have done that a long time ago, even with your awareness." The possessed soldier spoke with direct satire. Kath knew she wasn't in the position to get even a little bit annoyed, as what she should be doing and thinking about right now is a solution or a way to get out of this predicament, but she can't just help it as she mentally rolled her eyes. Can he just stop getting their heads and let them speak? Yeah, she can adhere to the fact that he is the Almighty monster, but can you stop showing off? He should let them speak with their mouth before he gives answers and not get into their brain whenever he likes. "Thanks for your compliment. But, if you must know, your thoughts scream loud into my ears and I sincerely do not think that's what you should be worried about." There he goes again. A compliment, did he take, 'the almighty monster,' as a compliment? That was supposed to be sarcasm and not a compliment. She would take his last sentence to heart. This is not what she should be thinking at the moment: definitely, not. "Ravana needs one of us for what exactly?" The king finally spoke and bat his lashes when he realized that he can now speak freely. The ropes aren't bound to his next anymore. Finally, he can breathe! That's such a relief. "Silly. What do you think he needs you for? Of course, to become like me. You will be under his subject. Do not worry about it as they are a lot of advantages attached to it. Ravana would make you possess some supernatural powers and you can do whatever you want with it." The possessed soldier stated, with an expression they couldn't tell if he meant what he said or not cause, he must have for to be kidding them. A supernatural power? Who needs that? Ravana wants one of them to be in his possession? How can he say it so nonchalantly, as if what he said would sound like some sought of good news to them? But, the alarming part of this all is that either Kath or her Dad will be under Ravana's subject while the other stays behind to probably, participate in the evil game. But who would this be? Who would be under Ravana's subject and who will stay behind for the game? Both options would be the worst experience. "But, why must it be us?" The king asked. The possessed soldier half smiled and said, "you've forgotten you challenge him a while ago? Oh, you've forgotten. Let me bear the honor of reminding you. Hold on, do you think you can challenge Ravana and then you go scot-free? Do you think so? In all my years of working with Ravana, no one, I mean absolutely no one has dared Ravana and then, go scot-free." He paused and smiled at them before saying, "now, back to what I was saying, for you to be under Ravana's subject, you have to be killed; that is to say, you have to be dead so, Ravana can fully dominate your body. And guess what? I am here for that." What?! Does someone have to die? Like, is this an offer of death or what? And, why does he have to keep this facial expression that does not suit the bad news he is saying to them. Ravana does the same. He got this from Ravana. Kath breathe out and turned to look at her dad who was already staring at her. Her dad held this expression that she couldn't figure out his thoughts. Why are there been so many twists ever since Ravana descended? To be sincere, this wasn't what they expected. Before Ravana descended, they intended that The Descendants of the black moon would descend to capture them all, and then the game begins. Thinking about that now had her laughing mentally. They had no idea of what Ravana had in store for them. "You are scared of death? You should be more worried about the game and not death." These words from the possessed soldier had pulled her out of their thoughts. They understood that the game was going to be a deadly one but, never had they pictured themselves being under the subject of Ravana. This is the same as working with your enemies to fight the people you love most. "Actually, Ravana had given me the mandatory to choose whoever I want to be killed but, I will be very kind on my first day of descending in Nazirites. Who would volunteer to be in the possession of Ravana, and, who would volunteer to stay behind for the game? The choice is yours." When the possessed soldier said this word, he turned to look at Kath and then, over to her dad with a raised brow. For the hundred times, the king and his daughter made eye contact. Since they were stunned by the whole situation, they find it really difficult to utter a word. "Just a reminder: you are entitled to choose from the option I just mentioned. You have no right whatsoever to bring in your own opinion cause you don't have a choice. So, think wisely before you say a word." He said this word with a straight. What will they do now? Both options are terrible. Can they even survive in any of those options?
