Chapter 26

What will they do now? Both options are terrible. Can they survive in any of those options? The first option is to get killed and be in Ravana's possession, while the second is to participate in a so-called game. Well, the second option was quite considerable, because, the great Akiko has earlier notified them about the game, so, they were sought of mentally prepared for it. But the first option came as a surprise to them. They have never had it in mind that a day like this would come where they will be given an option to work under Ravana's subject. From both options, the first option was the toughest and definitely not a choice someone would willingly adhere to. "You are taking so much time! Am not as patient as you think I am. Listen, once Ravana gives me the instruction I have been waiting for, I will kill whoever I want to. So, make your choice now, cause you are gradually running out of time." The possessed soldier said and Kath sucked on her bottom lips thinking hard on how to get out from this mess they found themselves in. Is there a possibility that they could run out from the palace... An ear-deafening sound of the bang of a door had startled her out from her thoughts. Like seriously? She hasn't implemented nor has she concluded on her plan yet, and they are already ahead of her. She turned in the direction of the sound and discovered that the loud banging sound came from the huge double front door of the palace; probably some unseen forces in the palace had earlier locked the front door before she concluded her plans. She gets it, the plan failed! Epic fails at that. She swerve her gaze to the possessed soldier as he shook his head slowly and glared at her. Hopefully, this doesn't trigger him the more. He has warned them sternly not to think of other options aside from the options he gives but, she just can't help it. Did he expect her to keep watch until he does whatever he wants to them? "Kath, are you aware of the fact that you're gradually going against my role? Are you? Don't make me regret my kind gesture towards you both." When he said those words to Kath, the king raised a brow at his daughter asking what exactly has she done in such a short while. Kind gesture? Does he call that kind gesture? Let's be realistic here, the options he gave aren't what she can refer to as a kind gesture. Both options are clearly horrendous Despite all this, the king still didn't utter a word. Running away wasn't in his option cause, even though the ropes has been fired from his neck; the thick net was still bound to his body. No, his thoughts weren't particularly focused on the options soldier gave, but he was pondering on what option could make his daughter live to accomplish her mission as the chosen one? She can't just die without fulfilling her mission as the chosen one. He can't let that happen. In fact, what is the essence of living in their present situation? He could take up the first option, cause at this point, he has no fear of death, his only fear was that after death, he would be under Ravana's subject; he would be under the subject of an enemy, more like, he would be Ravana's servant to fight against the people of loves. How can he work with Ravana to fight against his people? And at the same time, he can't let his daughter decide on or, be given the first option. At least, if she is still alive, then there's hope for the people of Nazirites. "You've wasted so much time. Why don't I choose for myself then? And whoever I choose, has been chosen. There is no going back!" When the possessed soldier said these words, they could feel the beads of sweat on their foreheads. The hall suddenly felt like, just the king and Kath were left in the hall to face judgment as they could now feel their body temperature going up and down. They have to say something before he does something silly. "I would volunteer to be under Ravana's subject " "I will go with the first option." Both the king and Kath said those words simultaneously. Kath turned to look at her dad with furrowed brows. Why? Why did he choose to be under Ravana's subject? He is the king and the only hope for the people of Nazirites, so why would he say those words without considering the people? What does he expect the people to do without a king by their side? How would they feel knowing fully well that the king they once had is now working with Ravana to fight against them? She won't let her dad make the wrong decision. Besides, she hasn't been of much help to the people other than bringing in more troubles to them. She heard some gasps behind her followed by some murmuring sounds. Geez! She totally forgot that the people of Nazirites were still in this hall. The King on the other hand knew his daughter would make that choice without thinking. He knew she would make that choice for his safety and probably for the satisfaction of the people of Nazirites: he knew it. But, he won't allow his daughter to make the wrong choice. The decision he made now will be more convenient for everyone. His daughter should be alive to save the people of Nazirites. The only thing which he haven't done yet cause, he still haven't found a perfect time, was passing the book on to his daughter. Nevertheless, whatever is destined for you will find its way to locate you. "That's quite impressive, it seems like you both are so eager to be under Ravana's subject and to know what it feels like to possess supernatural powers. Unfortunately, Ravana needs just one of you to be under his subject..." "What are you waiting for? Take me then." The king said cutting him mid-sentence. The possessed soldier raised a brow at the king and then turned to look at Kath. Kath ignores his stares and walks up to her dad almost shoving the soldier aside. "Dad! What are you saying? Have you forgotten that you are the only hope for the people of Nazirites? Have you? What will become of me and the people of Nazirites if you make such a decision? Dad, let me do this. I have nothing to offer. Me being alive has no purpose to the people of Nazirites and even myself." Kath said this as even her voice began to shake and she could feel stung of tears at the back of her eyes. Her dad's expression seems persistent. But, will her dad truly do this? Ravana can only dominate his body but her dad himself will be dead. She can't lose such an important soul to not only her but in the lives of the people of Nazirites. The King brought his hands out from the holes of the neck and gestured on her to place her hands on his; which she did, "Kath, the decision I have made today will be up to the favour of everyone. You would understand this as time goes by. Just trust me on this one, I didn't make the wrong decision." The king said the words soothingly and plastered a smile on their faces. Kath shook her head slowly and mumbled, "Dad, I can't lose..." "Okay, okay, that's enough. That was so emotional. Yeah, I agree to that, but can you just let me do what I came down here for?" The possessed soldier said nonchalantly and Kath had to fight to urge to glare at him. The way he speaks makes it seems like he came down here for a good reason. This time, he deserves to be ignored. "Dad, I can't let you do this. I just can't, please reconsider the decision you've made..." "Kath, my mind is made up. I have thought about this and I think this is the right decision. I promise you, I will always watch over you. I will be there when you need me. Even when I am gone, do not feel like I am gone cause I will always be there with you." Kath could feel the tears which have been threatening to fall roll down her cheek. Her dad doesn't deserve this. No, he doesn't. She caused all this, everything that happened today was her fault and her dad wants to bear the consequences. She should have listened to Ravana and wouldn't have made any attempt to get the book, but because of her stupidity, she still proceeded and everything has now backfired to her dad and not her. What a troublesome daughter she was. A daughter that has brought death right in front of her dad. A daughter that has brought death, not only to her dad but to the people of Nazirites which she ought to have protected. She could now feel the taste of the tears in her mouth. Her tears were running uncontrollably down her cheek. Never has she felt so heartbroken. Her mom has left her and now, her dad wants to do the same. The thought that she would be the only one left in the world had her tightened her grip on his hands. She just doesn't wanna let go, she can't see herself letting go of his hands anytime soon. The King had this small smile on his face. His hands went up to her cheek as hot tears gathered in his eyes. This is the last time he would see his beautiful daughter; this is the last time he would feel the touch of his daughter. And of course, he would miss her from the bottom of his... heart!
