Chapter 14

1445 Words
"Ravana Is here; here within us!" "If I may ask, what Ravana are you talking about?" One of the soldiers asked as the king almost glared at him. "Specifically: the leader of the Descendants of the black moon!" The king explained further. "So, why are we still here then?" Another soldier asked. "Where then should we be at?" Replied the king. "We should be running out of the palace... by the way, what's the proof that Ravana is here?" Another man voiced out from the midst of the crowd. While this conversation was going on between the king and his people, at a far end in the huge hall, a woman was leaning her back on the brick wall of the palace listening to the king when she felt a hand raking through her hair. At first, she was loving the sensation from it, not until the realization hit her that, there is no one standing behind her.  When she turned around, she couldn't find anything or anyone that could rake his or her hand through her hair. She concluded that it was probably, just her imagination, so she continued listening to the king and the conversation he was having with his people. "Ravana was whispering to me a while ago." The king finally admitted. Even when he knew the people wouldn't believe what he just said now, he had to admit it cause, proof has to be given for them to believe him. "Ravana was whispering to you a while ago and you are sitting down so... comfortable?" A man voiced out from the crowd in disbelief. "What then do you want me to do? Run out from the palace or what?" The king replied a little bit angrily. Again, that same woman felt a hand on her hair, but this time, it was actually pulling it real hard. When she wanted to scream, the hand suddenly stopped pulling her hair and immediately she turned around to see what exactly it was but, found nothing! At this point, she began thinking if it was her imagination or something truly was pulling her hair. The king's voice distracted her from her thoughts. "I am aware of the fact that the majority of you would think that I am acting weird or stupid but believe me when I say Ravana was whispering to me a while ago and he is our midst." "What did he say to you?" Kath inquired. "Nothing... important. His aim was just to make me act... in... sane, yes, insane in front of you all." She king said and ran his hand through his hair. "But then, you fell for it. Just look at them, no one believes you. To them, you are just an insane king." That creepy voice whispered these words in his ears in a mockery tone. The King welled up and slammed his hands on the arms of his throne, "You know what? This gathering is over!" He yelled angrily. For the first time, the king raised his voice on his people. What is the point of this gathering when what he has been doing all through is acting like an insane person? That creepy voice wouldn't let him think properly and even when he knows what he is saying, the people won't and can't believe him because he has been acting stupid all day. The people still didn't move an inch as they were still in shock at the king's sudden outburst. Obviously, he hasn't said anything meaningful throughout this gathering, so, why then is the meeting over? No doubt, the king has been acting insane and every word that has come off his mouth makes no sense to them. Ravana is in their midst and even whispering to him? What? Ravana? If Ravana was truly in their midst, then they would definitely notice his presence; definitely would. Ravana can't be that calm. Because of the ongoing... drama and confusion amid everyone in the palace, the woman absentmindedly leaned her back on the brick wall of the palace. This time, she felt something roughly pulling her hair; just as if it was about pulling her hair off her scalp. The pain became unbearable and she wanted to scream but then, she changed her mind and decided to act smart. Without any sign or notice, she uses her right hand to get a hold of the hand pulling her hair from behind. After struggling for eternity to get the hands off her hair; still using her right hand to hold firmly to the unknown hand, she successfully pulled her hair off the grip of the hand and turned around to see who's hand it was. What she saw made her completely speechless for a few seconds until she got a hold of herself and screamed at the top of her lungs as she fearfully left the hand. When the people who were close to her heard her scream, they also turned around to see what had made her scream so loud. What they saw made them scream even louder than her. Now, the hall of the palace is full of screams from different voices. This scream has gotten the king's attention as he diverted his gaze to the direction of the sound. "Rafe, go over there and check what's going on." The king instructed as the soldier nodded his head and walked towards the direction of the sound. When he got to the scene, his eyes widened as he gasps, "What the... King! Come over and check, a hand his bugging out from the wall!" The man exclaimed. Truly, a very black hairy hand was bugging out from the brick wall. It had long fangs and cracking dry fingers. But, the most shocking part of them all was, the hand had nobody; or, maybe it did but, they couldn't see it as the only thing they could see was just a hairy hand bugging out from the brick wall. The hand wasn't moving but just there with stretched out fingers  After walking to the scene and beholding it, the King folded his hands and said thoughtfully to himself or whoever could hear him, "Could this maybe be Ravana's hand?"  At least, the people will be able to believe him now. And again, this was enough to prove that Ravana was somewhere; somewhere around them; even though they couldn't see him. But, with this hand bugging out from the wall, how can it go away? "The king; what are we going to do regarding this issue?" Rafe questioned staring at the king. And, even with thinking, the king commanded, "Cut the hands off!"  Again, the soldier nodded his head and took his sword out from the scabbard as he walked closer to the bugging hand.  He raised the sword up and then, brought it down forcefully as the sharp edges of the sword came in contact with the hand but then, instead of cutting it off, the sword bounced back after making a striking sound; exactly the sound of when iron comes in contact with other iron with an explicit force. Though Rafe was in shock then, he decided to give it another try. The same thing happened and the sword bounced back to him. "What?! Is this a robot or what?" Rafe questioned in disbelief. This time, Kath stepped forward and then, made an attempt to cut off the hand but, the same thing that happened with Rafe, the same thing happened to her. But, despite all this, the hand still didn't move an inch. It was just there just as if, it got stuck there or something. "Let me just say... that's like a sample of what we are made of. Samuel, my second return is very near, get prepared!" That same creepy voice muttered these words to him and immediately he was done talking, the hand on the brick wall turned into dark smoke, and slowly, it vanished. The people were dumbfounded and horrified and, all they could do was stare at one another. "The hand is... gone!" A girl stuttered among the crowd in incredulity. Meanwhile, after that creepy voice has said those words to the king, he couldn't say a word as he also was... dumbfounded. So, everything that just happened right now was Ravana trying to pass a message to him. His servants are made of steel? His servants are more like a robot? This is exactly the same as Ravana passing a message on to him that, there is absolutely no way that they would defeat them. The King raised his head and said, "This time, we should have a... sensible gathering!"
