Chapter 16

1224 Words
The people gathered around again in the palace. Some stared at the king with folded arms while others were lost in thought as they still haven't gotten over the incident that happened a while ago. The incident that took place a while ago, has rendered majority of them speechless, while a minority of them throw questions at themselves. The woman which a steel hand or robotic hand raked through her hair was still in trauma. She sat down at one end; swimming in thoughts. "So, all this while, Ravana has been in our midst?" A man voiced out in exasperation. Now, they are beginning to regret not believing the king when he was trying to explain to them that Ravana was truly in their midst, though, he acted insanely but what he said, was the truth… the truth which they didn't believe; well, not until now. Though, the man was just throwing questions at himself and didn't expect any of the, "lost in thoughts," people to answer his question, but then, the king rather replied. "Yes! He has been in our midst and was whispering silly things to me. Do you know the last words Ravana said to me? He told me that, the bugging hand on the wall was a sample of what his servants are made of, which generally implies that, his servants are made of steel." The King explained. "What?! His servants are… robots?" Few people amid the people of Nazirites yelled in terror, almost pulling down the walls of the palace. From everything that has happened and they have heard, this was one of the most shocking things of them all. If his servants are made of steel, then they are completely… hopeless. "I never said his servants are robots. They could probably have the body skin as every human but, what is in them is made of steel. This will definitely prevent anything from coming into their bodies, which also implies that," the king paused and cleared his throat and continued, "our swords, arrows, and catapults; generally, our fighting tools can't penetrate through their bodies, at the same time, it also signifies that they are almost; if not impossible to defeat!" The king spit out the bitter truth and took a deep breath. Silence engraved the hall. Every one of them has different thoughts in their heads. Okay, they have always had it in mind that, they couldn't defeat Ravana and his people, but personally, every one of them knew that, when that day comes, they would certainly defend themselves by fighting and retaliating. But then, Ravana decided to render the tiny hope that had been hopeless! In this case, they can't fight, retaliate or defend themselves. Like, what would they do when even the fighting tools they have are worthless to them right now. "Oh, before I forget, Ravana also said," the people got pulled out from their thought as they swiftly turned to look at the king with wide-opened eyes. Their attention and gaze firmly fixed at him, "his second return is very near." The majority of them sighed in frustration as they push a lump down their throats. Well, well, well! Maybe, they just have to sit, watch, expect the unexpected, and then see what would happen on that day. They can't even ask the king for a solution, cause the same way they are clueless; the same way the king is. "Kath, is there anything you would love to say? Like a solution or maybe... contribution." The king asked his daughter after realizing that she has been quiet the whole time since their second gathering. Kath hesitated for a while before saying, "what if I do have a solution? Yet, I can't let it out because, Ravana would listen to us and then, knows our intention and thoughts to get them defeated. Ravana is not stupid. Once he hears our intention towards them, he would undoubtedly make plans ahead of us so, our plans towards them would be worthless." The King intertwined his finger and placed them on his thigh. Again, he was lost in thoughts; deep thoughts. What Kath said was the visible truth. It is obvious, Ravana's intention and everything are becoming clear to them. Ravana came down to earth to pass on a message to him, to make them more frightened and at the same time, listen to their plans to defeat them. "So now, we can't voice out our plans?" A man exclaimed amid the crowd. "Am afraid but, we... can't!" Kath replied. "I understand, I understand everything you are trying to say but, how then can we make plans to defeat him if we can't... communicate?" That same man asked Kath in confusion. Kath delayed before replying, "then we don't have to make plans, for now." Mumbling sounds arose amid the people of Nazirites. "Voice it out!" The king finally spoke up. Immediately, different questions started throbbing in from all the corners of the palace. "We shouldn't make plans for now? Just as the king has said, Ravana will have his second return any time soon, if we don't make plans, then..." Before the first man could complete his sentence, another question came in. "No plans? We know our plans can't go a long way but at least we should make plans for..." "Okay here is what will happen, we could make our plans now and if Ravana listens to it, then we would make a plan B when Ravana is no longer around us!" A man suggested. The man standing beside him almost glared at him as he asked, "how would we know if Ravana is no longer around us to make a plan B?" The man who made that suggestion bat his lashes and stuttered, "oh... I... I... I never thought of that. Why... didn't I think of that?" He ended his speech with a nervous laugh after realizing what he said was of no use and help to them. "I beg of you, think deeply before you utter a word! By the way, have been wanting to ask, what about the book our ancestors has handed over to us. King, you still haven't gotten any answers from it?" A man asked amid the crowd. The realization just dawn on them that, they had one hope left to be safe. The book, The Descendants Of The Black Moon could utter a solution to their unending trauma. Tiny hope surge through them that at least there's a little possibility that they would be safe on Ravana's second return. "No, I haven't. I am obviously... not the chosen one." The king said with mixed feelings of pain, anger, frustration, and hopelessness. "Have you considered passing it to your daughter? The princess can give it a try, who knows? She might be the chosen one!" Someone said as mumbling sounds of agreement surge through the crowd. Okay, he has officially agreed to do this! By the way, why hasn't he handed the book to his daughter? Oh, he was scared. Well thinking deep now, he just realized that he was been a little bit partial. It seems like he cares about his daughter's safety more than the safety of the people of Nazirites. He would do this and he can do this, hopefully, maybe, his daughter; Kath would offer a solution.
