From Boardroom to Bedroom

Alexa's POV Immediately I had woken up that cold Tuesday morning, I had known instantly that trouble was up in my sleep, wolfing down hot bacon and an icy tea. Then I had received the call from my father, a shrill sound from my cell phone making me spill my tea in the process. I cursed under my breath as I quickly cleaned up the mess. I'm Alexa Maria Stones, daughter and only child of Mr. and Mrs. Stones, one of the richest CEO in all of Chicago. If you think I work as a director of some sort then you are wrong, I worked in their company as their interior designer and of course I loved my work and would wish for nothing else but coming up with new and creative designs. Last month I had gone on a solo vacation to Paris as I've been working round the clock all year and I really needed a break; it was all my father’s idea though. Arriving yesterday and staying in the Lake house was the best decision I had made since I got back from Paris because seriously, I wasn't ready yet for any unsolicited advice from my parents. Truthfully, I had done myself better going to Paris. But then something had flashed in my head, I tried to kick it off but I couldn't forget his face the handsome stranger I had met in one of the clubs. He was perfect, so charming, just like a Greek god, having a one-night stand with him wasn't what I had bargained for but I would confess, he was a gentle lover. " Hello daddy". I squeaked. " Good morning angel" He responded, I really know that voice, he wanted something, I cringed at the thought of it " Hope you are good. " I asked a bit worried but also hoping I don't get what I didn't bargain for. " Yes, I am, I know you are on vacation, but I'll need you to…." " You'll need me to come back and attend a meeting?" I said cutting him short. Yeah, right. " Yes, I'll need you to come over, you know the company needs you. " He laughed and I guess he was smiling now. "I'm really sorry I promise after this time, I'll never disturb you ever again " he said which I knew was a big fat lie. I knew that he wouldn't bother me but I was getting fed up and annoyed, I just can't have a moment rest no wonder he asked me to go on a vacation to prepare me for a huge task. I slapped my temple but there's nothing I could do. " Are you there?" He asked. " Yes father, I'll make it to the meeting, when is it?" I replied, I had no choice. " It's tomorrow by ten" his voice was low. " Really?" I was speechless my eyes widen in surprise. "Seriously Dad. " " I'm really sorry Angel" Jeez, I had planned out my whole week, I would be going shopping with my friends and also try a yoga workout. " It's fine dad, I'll take the next available flight " I lied, didn't want him to know that I had arrived because I was dead sure something worse than this would arrive. " I'll send the necessary documents through my personal assistant to you, bye" The line went dead . I jumped on the bed screaming into the pillow, this was really frustrating and heartbreaking, I wanted to cry. I looked at my scattered room with lots of clothes hanging by the side of wardrobe and on the door too. At long last I had ended up cleaning the room myself, tried a new recipe I had seen on i********: and tried to work on some new designs. By the time I was done, I had forgotten to set the alarm and slept off. ______ It was the sharp annoying shrill from my alarm that woke me up, I made a mad dash for bathroom and in few minutes time I was out, added just a touch of make-up and all that while cursing under my breath. I would just take a taxi and tell my dad the lie I had prepared, didn’t want to let him know I had arrived the day before. I stood looking at my wristwatch hoping to catch a cab early enough, get to the meeting and be done with this whole crap. I scrolled through my phone just in time for a cab to stop before me. Without looking up I moved from the sidewalk and tried to get into the cab when i bumped into a hard muscular body." Can't you get out of the way??" A voice bellowed. I glanced up quickly to see the most handsome since I came back from Paris but that shouldn't mean he should yell at me I wasn’t a quiet person " And is that why you bumped into me like an old blind bat. The road is wide enough, mister." He raised his brows in surprise which was quickly replaced by anger. I thought he would exchange words with me, but he moved away, his eyes fixed on his phone as he opened his car door, ignoring me completely like I just spoke to myself. He was tall about 6"2 with jet black hair and a very handsome face no woman would resist, his very expensive suit hugged his biceps like a second skin. He got in and speed away leaving a small line of dust behind, I shook my head feeling like a fool, gave a signal to the driver, I blamed myself for exchanging words with him in the first place, now I might be late for the board meeting. I wasn't bothered though, I could always apologize to Mr. Anderson Lakewood, he's my father's best friend and business partner. I knew I was freaking late as I reached the great Lakewood building where we've always done most of their interior designing. I smiled at the receptionist at the entrance of the door as she showed me to the room. " I'm so sorry Mr. Lakewood, I'm late", I said as I entered shutting the door almost out of breath. I turned around I was met with a different pair of eyes and a younger face. I was shocked and almost stuttered like who's this and why was he sitting on Mr. Lakewood's seat. I turned to the other members and they seemed comfortable and at ease. I became confused and shocked " You would have been an actress," A silky deep voice boomed that sent familiarity down my spine. I looked closely and knew instantly who he was. He was the young man earlier today. What a huge coincidence. I decided to ignore him as I took a seat. " I apologize for coming late every one, we can begin now" I said. " And who are you to tell when to begin this meeting" He asked. I took in a deep breath, this is a business meeting Alexa, don't mess things up. " I asked a question," He half shouted " And you expect an answer to that question Mr. no name?" I blurted out before I could even stop myself. " Steve is the name, and this meeting is adjourned " He declared. There was a slight murmuring as they all stood up leaving the room, I was dumbfounded, " You can't possibly adjourn this meeting after everything I've been through to meet up?" " Oh! You can go ahead” He made for the door. " You wouldn't dare leave " I said, walking to the door and locking it, dangling it in his face His grey eyes blazed hot " You're so childish, how would you run the company this way?
