Alpha Alex POV: I dropped the papers on the bed, my gaze lingered on them for a few seconds, before I shook my head. I walked to and fro by the side of the bed, my hands on my head. I paused to take a look at the paper again, I picked it up, my eyes moved through every word on each line, and each paragraph. My gaze moved to the chandelier and back to the wooden shelf at the other side of the room. If I needed more answers; they're definitely lying patiently behind the shelf, in the safe. My feet moved speedily towards the shelf, my fingers got greeted with cobwebs and dust as I pushed away the books covering the safe. I stared at the safe. I exhaled, my hands on my shoulders. Only if I could get the right combination of numbers, getting access to whatever was there wouldn't be a problem. I crouched, and the beeping sound of the buttons filled the room. I stood up straight, staring at the green screen, which had to be completed with six digits. I bowed my head, my jaw resting on my palm. My mind traveled around, trying to find an answer. Or the last six digits. My eyes lit up, and I quickly rushed over to the little drawers on the right side of the bed. My hands were covered with brown dust; it couldn't be any worse. I went through the two drawers, and my eyes suddenly grew dim, "How can this be empty?" I got on my feet and walked over to the other side of the bed, my heart racing fast. I shut my eyes and took a deep breath as I drew out the two drawers with my two hands. My hands slowly moved into the drawer, and I paused when my fingers came in contact with a soft, ropy material. I slowly opened my eyes, hoping it was what I wanted. My chest rose and fell speedily. I quickly grabbed the old, brown, rusty diary and sat on the bed. I loosened the rope like my life depended on it, and yeah, it did. I flipped through the book's pages, only to end up coughing. I dropped the book by my side, holding on to my chest, my dusty palm over my mouth. For the first time in a while, I stared at the roof, my mouth wide open, my chest slowly rising and falling. I fell backwards onto the bed, a wave of dust filled the air, filling both my nostrils. I stared helplessly at the chandelier over my head, while noise and a faint whistling sound filled its way out of my lips in the disguise of breathing. My heart tightened, and my chest became hard; my tongue stuck out of the boundaries of its lips. My gaze moved to the window, which was on the far right side of the room. That was what could fix me; my hands moved to my throat. I clung hard to it, wrestling with nothing in particular, but the sharp thorny pinch. I felt my heartbeat slowly dwindle… (A few hours later) My eyes slowly opened, my chest slowly rising and falling. I rolled my eyes as I slowly sat up, gazing around. The memories of what happened last flooded my mind, and my gaze moved to the book beside me. Immediately, I got on my feet and moved over to the window, pulling apart the rich purple curtains. The room immediately radiated the silvery look of the moon. I walked back to the bed, picked up the book, and headed straight to the window. "Do you think it was just dust that made you wheeze, the pink-like feeling in your throat?" Lex, My wolf asked. I dropped the book on my lap and looked around the room. My eyes widened, and the whole The room was covered in dust, including the walls. I got up slowly, moved away from the curtain, and quickly grabbed my phone. I stooped and pinched the particles of dust on the floor; it didn't look like dust, it was chemical. My mind flashed back to a discussion I had with Alice and Trey during our science class. There's a particular mixture of gas that knocks one out just by being around the said environment for a maximum of six minutes. The texture and the color were the same. My gaze moved to the safe, and then to my dad's diary in my hands. I had less than five minutes to leave this room or get knocked out again. I flipped through the book's pages, hoping to find a sticker with the keys to the safe. If I had known he would die before the war came to an end, I would have spent time with him. Who knows, he might have let me in on the keys for the safe. I paused when a piece of paper slid down one of the pages. I stared at it, and slowly stooped, hoping it was exactly what I wanted. My eyes widened, my lips curled at the sight of the different numbers. I threw the book on the bed and hurried to the shelf, punching the keys as my fingers quaked. I exhaled immediately upon hearing the three-second sound; it was music to my heart. I held on to the knob of the safe for a few seconds. "You know, whatever you come across has the tendency to alter the entire course of your life?" Lex muttered. "I am aware, but what if it alters it for good?" I heard him chuckle, What's known, rather than the unknown. "What if it goes the other way? You know, sometimes it's better to live with I nodded my head, "I can't go into this new phase of my life without having an idea of the secret that was passed down to my dad.... Even if it's going to hurt me, at least I know I am acting based on facts, and not on what-ifs. " I took a deep breath and opened the safe, which was filled with bundles of cash used in the world of humans and millions of small brown envelopes. "Human currency, and millions of brown envelopes?" Lex muttered curiously. I brought out all the envelopes and closed them after feeling a light pain in my chest. I changed the password at the speed of light, grabbed the diary and my phone, and dashed out of the room. I barged into my room and quickly locked the door when it dawned on me that I had left the window open. I stared at the diary, which was seated on the piles of brown envelopes. "Let the secret reveal begin......
