CHAPTER 18: Maggie

Maggie hurried into the bathroom by the living room, closing the door behind her. She sat on the side of the tub and let the tears fall. She hadn’t thought Terry was a cruel man. She’d been wrong, but it didn’t matter. He’d helped her a lot and she’d repay him by taking care of him until he was well. Then, she’d leave and move on with her life. She wiped her face and walked into the living room. She put the TV on for the kids, retrieved the playpen from the car, set it up near the couch, deposited Davy in there with some toys and went into the kitchen.
She made some soup from a box that she’d brought with her and took a snack to the kids. “Mommy is going to be in the back with Mister Terry. You guys be good. If you need anything come and get me.”
