I watched as the dark clouds covered the pale blue sky. It could rain, but it's also that time of the year. It could snow. I felt my phone buzz from a text. I peeled my eyes away from the beautiful scene unfolding out the window to focus on the screen. You really couldn’t wait huh Alpha? I let out an irritated breath as I read his message. “ Are you there yet?” I quickly replied back if not he’d freak. “ No, Alpha not yet, but I’ll be there within the hour.” I waited for his quick reply back. “ Good. Call me when you’re there.” I sent him a thumbs up emoji and he sent one back. I chuckled a bit, well setting my phone back down onto my lap. I looked back out to the grey wool clouds rolling in from the high top mountains. Yes, it’s definitely going to snow. I could feel the temperature starting to drop, well the sky split open to let the tiny beads of snow gracefully fall. Within minutes the beautiful fall view of Wyoming turned into a white out blizzard. An emergency message cut through the radio informing all residents to seek shelter for the next few days due to the high possibility of being snowed in. “ Lucky we’re wolves then huh?” I smiled at Ryan, my escort for this trip. “ Don’t be too proud my friend, even wolves can die from being out in the elements.” He chuckled back.” Yeah yeah yeah.” He chidded at me.” We’ll still make it within the hour right? I don’t want Talon on my ass when I don’t call by then.” I proclaimed. He turned around to give me this look of hurt.” Are you doubting my driving skills, Dove?” I smiled.” Oh no you know how he is if he doesn’t have an update every five minutes.” He laughed.” I’m going to tell him you said that hon.” I stuck my tongue out at him which made him chuckle. “ Yeah we’ll be there by then.” He assured me. I sat back and looked out the window again. The sound of the howling wind was like a lullaby. It was making my eyes heavy with sleep.” Get some shut eye Dove, I’ll wake you when we’re almost there. You had a long sevened-two hours hon.” I smiled. ” Thanks.” I let my eyes close to the whooshing sound of the snow hitting the car and letting sleep take over. Flashes of fire and the piercing sounds of screams filled my sleepless mind as it dragged me back to the past that I wanted desperately to forget. Watching as my parents died and were being burned by the rogues. Watching as the others retreat to the pack house where the old and us kids hid. Talon holding me against his body. Making promises that he’d keep me safe. Then it turned into a hellish nightmare. Something busted threw the doors and got us. Talon was being dragged away by these solid shadow creatures and the rest of the pack members were being slaughtered for the fun of it. Well watching as one of them creeps closer to me. I was frozen with fear and couldn’t move. It reached for me and wrapped its slimy hands around my neck and started to squeeze the life out of my body. My tiny hands clawed at it’s wrists and forearms to release me from its death grip, but it's boney fingers only tightened even more around my airway. I started to see black spots dot my vision as fire burned through my lungs, wanting the fresh air to desperately come to me. My eyes started to water as I started to feel my life slowly slip away. It lifted me up to look into my green eyes. I was horrified at this thing as it resembled my Mother and Father.” Why?” It breathed. I tried to choke out an answer. I didn’t mean it! I wanted to shout at them.” Why didn’t you tell us we would die!” I heard both of my parents say from the evil being.” Why!” It shouted till its voice kept echoing through my head with the one word. Why? I don’t know why. I’m so sorry Mother, Father. Then I felt as my eyes started to close and my grasp loosened around the beings hands. This is it. This is how I die. My hand dropped as this beast chuckled evilly. The demon’s laughter echoed till my last heart beat. “ Hey wake up, we're here.” Ryan said as I bolted up straight breathing hard from the most insane dream I’ve ever had. I was sweating really bad and my hands were shaking too. Ryan slowed down to look at me.” Hey hon you okay? Looks like you saw a ghost.” I looked up at him. ” Yeah, yeah I'm fine.” I lied well touching my neck where I could still feel their hands gripping me. I put down my shaking palm to retrieve my phone. I took a few deep breaths and went and called Talon. He picked up on the first ring. " You know what to do." He said quickly. I rolled my eyes at him. ”Of course I do Alpha." I said sarcastically. He scoffed at me." Drop the whole Alpha s**t Dove. I'm just big cousin Talon to you." I smiled at that." Of course I know my mission, Talon. I am the one that foreseen this and sent myself on this oh so little trip right?" He threw a raspberry at me." Oh c'mon Dove how sure are you that this is my mate?" He asked. My tone fell a degree." I haven't been wrong with my visions yet Cousin." We stood silent for a bit as memories from that night flooded back to his mind. He slowly broke away from the nightmare." I trust you Dove. We'll have everything go as planned. Like you told us to." He said well his tone went all Alpha on me." I also trust you as my Beta." I shook my head." I'm just ensuring the strength of our pack, that's all.” I heard as he smiled through the phone." They all see this as a gift, but it sucks knowing who was going to die and knowing how they were going to die made it much worse." I wish I could do more." I told him with emotion thick in my voice. As some important wolf coming in from one of the biggest packs in Colorado to talk about treaty policies and the Hunters around the borders of both states. Sounds like they’ll be staying for awhile from just the way all the higher ranked wolves have been talking. I wonder who it is? I don’t know, but it must be The Alpha himself since it’s about the treaty. So of course all the unmated she-wolves were getting ready for his arrival. You know the whole ten yards thing. Hair, makeup, something sexy to put on, ect ect ect. Ugh. I felt my head start to hurt from all this B.S. I pressed the heel of my hand into my eye socket as the pain started to radiate from there. Just my luck. I felt as some of the higher ranked daughters pushed past me.” Move b***h!” As the leader of the bunch, Malena was the first to start throwing insultes. Then of course the rest of the girls started in on me. I let out a deep breath as they kept on and on with the oh so hurtful words, Till a strong voice boomed in.” What is going on here!” Alpha Leon said well, making his grand entrance from the top of the stairs. All of the girls and the rest of the staff went quiet and bowed to him, well he came waltzing down.” I said, ``What's going on?” He practically spit in my face. ” N-nothing Alpha.” I told him while I turned my head away from his dark hateful gaze.” That’s not at all what happened my Alpha.” Malena had to openen her w***e lying mouth. Leon snapped his head towards her and just as quickly she lowered her head again. He walked a few steps to her till he was toe to toe with the lying b***h. His gaze bore into her brown s**t head when he said.” Did I say it was okay to speak.” Didn’t really sound like a question whatsoever, but the dumbass still answered him.” N-no of course not Alpha.” After she was done he grabbed her by the throat and started to wring her neck with his massive hands. You can see her amber eyes pop from her head as she tries to wrap her fingers around his to make him stop. He let out a growl as he saw that as disobedience. ” Malena, get your hands off him or he’ll kill you.” I spat out. What the f**k self? Why am I helping her? His head snapped to me as he released her and rushed me with the speed only an Alpha could only have. Oh no. He grabbed and slammed me into the wall. I felt his hands wrap around my neck now! I kept my eyes down and focused on trying to not pass out.” Maybe I should kill you.” He whispered into my ear.” It would definitely make my day scum.” He pressed me harder into the wall. I dug my nails into my thighs so I wouldn’t reach up and rip open his forearms with my claws from the pain he caused.” I’m sorry to interrupt Alpha, but our guests have arrived.” Louis said. Thank the Goddess! He looked to Louis then back to me.” Looks like you’ve been spared for now scum.” And with one swing he threw me across the room where I landed in a painful heap on the ground. Aw f**k that one hurt! I was wheezing and gasping for air as I laid there think of how stupid I was at the moment. I looked up to see the bitching she-wolves just grin at me. Well Malena looked away well cradling herself in pity. Stupid heffer. “ Get up before I change my mind.” I looked over to see Leon looking down at me before he walked out to the lobby to welcome our guest. First I got on all fours to push myself up. C’mon girl you got this! I told myself. When finally I got up on two shaky legs to get myself back to the corner of the house and rest up till I was called in again for my duties later on tonight. I walked away well watching the others with a smug look on their face basically saying that I deserved what I got. One day they will all pay. Mark my words. Dove’s P.O.V “ You know if Talon found out that you’re carrying your own luggage he’ll have my balls right?” I gave Ryan an ick face.” Please keep boy parts out of our convos okay?” I told him. He was there that night when everything broke out, he hid with us too. He lost his father then also and for a long time I couldn’t look at him without feeling this guilt that I did this. That I killed his Father. He knew I had this on my mind and he told me that there was nothing a six year old could have done to prevent this attack a hundred percent anyways. That his dad went out on a warrior's death, like he always wanted. He lifted my chin and told me to be strong for the pack members we’ve lost. I blushed at the memorie. I mean yeah he’s one of the hotter guys/ wolves I know for sure yeah, but he only sees me as a little sister and that’s fine. I looked over at him and watched as he grabbed his bag from the back of the armored SUV. I watched as his white shirt bunched around his chest to reveal a very muscular physique under all his security/ secret service type get up. His brown hair did up in the latest fashion well the scar above his eyebrow made him look more dangerous and a bit older than his twenty years of age. You could see his five o’ clock shadow coming in even though it was ten in the morning. That little permanent smirk he had that made any girl weak in the knees. His vibrant green eyes were almost like emeralds shining through the darkest night. Almost like a beacon to bring you back to the place that’s warm. He was that guy to make sure you were always a part of the group. I loved that about him. He straightened up and caught me looking at him." What? Is everything okay?" He asked, looking around him." Do I have something on me?" He looked worried now. I blushed and looked away." No, just wondering what's taking so long." I said too fast. He grunted at my comment. He walked over and playfully bumped my shoulder. We both chuckled as we played like that till we reached the door of the White Pine Pack. And on que the door opened to show an omega woman. We smiled at her." Good morning Beta." She bowed to Ryan." Oh no sorry to disappoint but uuuh, I'm the Delta." He said well, rubbing the back of his head with a broad smile on his face." You're looking for her then." He pointed to me. Her mouth hung open." Are you the Beta's mate?" She asked. Ryan let out a small laugh. I gave her a small smile." No, I am Alpha Talon's Beta, Dove Thunderbird." She quickly started to shake." I'm so sorry for my rude behavior Beta!" She bowed again when I gave her my title." No need ma'am, my apperinenc for the title is rare." She looked up at me with a question mark look on her face. I gave her another small smile. She snapped her head as she was receiving a message from someone. Most likely Alpha Leon. She came back and turned toward us." I'm sorry I'm eating up the Alpha's time." She said ``well rushing us through the door well taking our jackets and luggage." This way please, the Alpha will be right behind these sets of doors." She bowed one more time before letting us through." Thank you." Both Rayn and I said in union to the omega woman well stepping into the room. She froze at the thank you, well shutting the doors behind us. "I have a bad feeling, Dove." Ryan said to our mind link. " I hear ya, but please don't go all detective yet." He scooted closer to me to the point where our hands brushed together. " Promise to not venture off too far okay?" He said well, grabbing my hand and slightly squeezing it. " I promise." He let go before the set of doors in front of us swung open to all the high ranked wolves in Leon's pack. " Wow, I feel welcomed." I gave Ryan a sideways glance at his sarcastic comment. Then there came waltzing in Leon, his Beta, Delta, and Gamma." Well look at what the wind blew in. The Beta of The Three Lake Pack.” Said the female Gamma that was checking out Ryan. My guess is this is Sabrina Welsh. “ Ryan, we have to be on alert on what we say to them, remember the pack over through their last Alpha and Luna.” “ Yeah I remember reading that in the report. Like I said before, don't venture far from me.” Leon gave Sabrina a dirty look. She tilted her head as she was getting a mind link from the Alpha himself no doubt. Then after a few seconds she rolled her eyes and went back in the way she entered. Then Leon clapped his hands." Well where were we? Awe yes." His piercing blue eyes focused on me." Welcom, Beta Dove to the White Pine Pack." His voice boomed well, raising his hands up like a king showing off his lands. His purple velvet shirt was half buttoned up to show off his chest. He was slim, but fit. He didn't have the body of an Alpha, but he sure acted like an one. Hell, even Ryan was taller than him! How did his Father bet the old Alpha and Luna then? I don't sense any trace of royalty or Alpha blood in him. So how is the big question here? I gave him a tight lip smile.” It’s good to be here.” I said, ``Well, looking around the decorated lobby.” Beautiful Country you live in. Perfect for wolves.” I chimed in. “ A female Beta doing male duties?” I heard one say.” No, that must be her mate, he's the true Beta.” I let my ears flicker from each comment.” She looks too young to be part of Their Council.” “ Maybe we can over through their pack since they have females on The Council?” One male wolf said with too much lust. I heard chuckles erupted through the crowd at the comment, well the whole time Ryan and I watched Leon. He too had a large s**t eating grin on his face as his pack's comments flew around him. “ Yes, how did a woman like you get the job title of Beta? Leon said. It made my skin crawl at the way he infansized the word woman. “ Calm down Dove, he's trying to get a reaction from you.” Ryan quickly told me. “ Yeah I know. Thanks for the heads up Ryan. Let's not let him get under our fur shell, we?” I heard him chuckle again. I gave Leon a sweet tight lip smile again and chuckled a sweet chuckle to all of them, then my eyes narrowed on the whole pack. I know they can feel it. The cold from my gaze freezing them in place. I heard as some of them started to panic and others tried to run, but they couldn’t because they’ve never had an actual Beta or Alpha in that matter actually use their true nature on them. My green gaze landed on Leon as I saw him wanting to do the same to cower away from me, but he hid it quite well. And with as much power as I could lace within my words, I said. “ Wouldn’t you like to know.”
